Canton Sound System Upgrade
VW's Dynaudio is not really using Dynaudio speakers It's just marketing name. Same as in Skoda Canton is not using Canton speakers. It's actually the case for majority of "premium" sound systems in cars. One i know for sure is using branded speakers, are Focal systems in Peugeot.

Sound deadening project
Ok, so first step been completed. Front side windows replaced. If anyone is interested, part numbers are: 5E3845022 (right side) 5E3845021 (left side) Nothing else needs replacement, seals are the same. In Poland i have paid 865 PLN per windows, so roughly 180€ in dealership. Tried to find used windows, but only found them in Sweden. It made no sense, as price (with shipping) was just 20€ lower, than new ones. Replacement is rather easy, once door card is removed. 1. Remove 2 plastic caps marked in green. 2. Lower your window, so that you can see holes/openings in the glass. 3. Use screwdriver or something similar to push plastic windows latches, that you can see through hole in the glass (sorry, haven taken pictures of this part). Push gently, but rather deep. At the same time try to move the glass up. Once it's release, you can remove it. 4. Release straps holding wiring (yellow marks). Do not cut them, as those are not regular straps you can replace with anything! 5. Take off plug marked in red. Disconnect all plugs. 6. Remove 2 torx screws in point marked in red. 7. Rotate green "screws" by 90 degrees counter-clockwise. Now you can remove whole window lift part, gaining access to inside of the door if you wish to use the mats there. If not, you can skip points from 4 to 7. Assemble everything in reverse order. That's it. One note - after this, you will need a diagnostic interface to clear airbag error. Round part with yellow plug is impact sensor. I have used the mats in the doors, on speaker frame and on the midrange driver mounting place on the door card. Mat is 3mm thick. Also used accoustic foam (self-adhesive) on the door cards. Now door and window feels much more sturdy. Sounds completely different when you knock on it/hit it. Also give very satisfying closing sound. Inside you can hear less noise from passing cars, but it's still present. I was surprised, that it has also reduced a bit tyre noise and suspension sounds. In general improvement is quite good, at least up to 100-120 kph. At 140 kph difference seems to be little bit lower, as tyre noise is dominating. I guess will need to also do wheel arches, and maybe part of the floor. Also one can still hear windo noise from the windscreen. Not replacing it yet Please remember, that i did all at once, so i cannot really say what would be the effect on replacing windows only, without dampening the doors. Dampening the doors has improved audio significantly. It still lacks lower bass, but at least now bass much better controlled, more punchy. Sounds much better in general. Now i have to do a rear door Edit: One more photo - inside of the door. Haven't used the mats on reinforcement, as i don't think it resonates that much, and didn't want to add more weight to the door. They are heavy already now

Wish i hadn't bought my MK4 Octavia and kept my karoq
Valid question. I had Ateca before O4. When buying Ateca was also testing Karoq. O4 is SO much more comfy then both of them. For me change from Ateca to O4 was a very good choice.

Sound deadening project
Will start mine probably this weekend. As my car doesn't have acoustic windows, i'm actually planning to add those. Of course side only. Hopefully tomorrow i will get parts (windows+seals). Since i will be anyway removing windows, will use mats inside of the door. Let's see what will be the result. For now only planning front door, and will see later. Probably trunk, rear door and front wheel arches.

That explains all Although it's actually interesting, that smaller roads in Tampere area were more quiet, than in Helsinki area. I would expect more people with studded tires in the north

NAVIGATION SYSTEM NOT WORKING *"This function is not available"* (MIB 3) octav mk IV
Hard to say not knowing the specs of L&K in India. Looking at the picture, you have either Columbus, which should have sat nav, or Bolero, which doesn't have it, but has all the needed hardware. If it's Columbus, it should work. If it's a Bolero, it shouldn't show sat nav in the menu, but at least in Europe you can buy it from the Skoda shop in the infotaiment. Check which infotaiment you have, and based on that you will know. If it's Columbus, go to the dealrship to fix it under warranty.

Fuel gauge slow to move from full
Actually analogue ones were way more accurate usually. Owned few cars that were quite spot on. In modern cars i'm using range indicator, which is also not perfect, but gives a bit better overview of what to expect.

Possible to completely disable (permanently) Kessy / Keyless entry?
You really think they used something else? Cause i'm 100% sure it was a relay.

Full matrix headlights - working as designed or not?
🤣

Sound deadening project
I guess that's mostly due to the size. I have 225/45R18 and tire noise quite loud on some surfaces. That's why i'm particularly interested in this. Although living in Finland, you should know what i'm talking about I don't know if its because of tarmac used, or because in Scandinavia you can use tires with spikes, but i noticed tire noise to be much, much louder in Scandinavia, than for example in Poland. Done roughly 2,5k km through Finland, Sweden and Denmark this summer. Waiting for your impressions when passenger side is done

Full matrix headlights - working as designed or not?
And that's what i'm talking about Not really. I can clearly see the "pocket" created by matrix for those cars, and they are well within this "pocket" all the time. That could be a problem in more premium cars, which have higher resolution of LED matrix, if the are even slightly mis-calibrated. But in O4 resolution is quite low, so the "pocket" is always big enough. Read above... That's what you think... I think you're not aware on how matrix works... And don't you think, that what you've done made you the same a**hole? More often than not, those guys behind you are on full beam by a mistake, whilst you are doing that on purpose. And you are not the one to teach them a lesson, it's job for police. Well, that's true. Question is, if we should stop developing new technologies? If someone is wearing glasses, that person has to wear glasses in the car, that's the law. I'm not a doctor, but maybe there should be similar regulations for people with cataracts? It can be cured.

Full matrix headlights - working as designed or not?
Welcome... Agree with that. Discussion here is about whether sensors fail to react, or not. From my observations they are not. Of course you're right. But again - from my observations sensor are not "forgetting" to react. They are reacting. It's just that perception of they matrix lights can be different, as they are brighter, but are not really dazzling. Just judging by my own experience. And some other people. Correct. Question is, if reason is really valid? And where did i say that? That was my first drive with matrix, and after each flash i was changing manually to dipped beam. It was only at home, when i started to review the recordings and found out, that they were flashing me for no reason.

Full matrix headlights - working as designed or not?
That's true. But looking at rest of your post and way how you reacted, sorry to say, but you are oversensitive. Also driving at night, there's quite a lot of cars with matrix LED also were i live and yes, i can see some people are using matrix's, but no, i'm not dazzled. There's a thin line between noticing matrix high beam, and being dazzled. If what you say would be truth, matrix LED would never be allowed to be used on public roads, at least in EU. But they are.

Ok, can you tell us what difference wheel arches made? Super interested in that

Full matrix headlights - working as designed or not?
It's altering light sensor sensitivity, so basically when car will switch from daytime running lights to dipped beam. I am sure of that. Been driving since 1998. Many times i have seen cars hundreds of meters away from me with their main beam on, and i was not dazzled until they came much closer (if they forgot to switch to dipped beam). It's the same with matrix.

OTA update available
Got same update yesterday. I don't see any changes, although i get the feeling system is a bit smoother. Might be placebo effect though. Update took roughly 5 minutes in my case, versions have not changed in the system info. Would be nice to know what is it? Wonder if it might be for example this lane change assist, that was supposed to come to O4? Can't check, as my car doesn't have side assist and side ultrasonic sensors.

Full matrix headlights - working as designed or not?
Actually if it's a long distance, it's not really dazzling. But again - other driver can see you're on high beams, so can flash you. But he is not really dazzled yet.

Full matrix headlights - working as designed or not?
Sensitivity setting is for light sensor, where matrix LED uses camera to detect cars. This setting should not affect matrix in any way. I think problem with matrix LED (not only in Skoda) is the fact, that... other drivers are not used to them. What i mean, is that when passing a car with matrix, you can clearly see it's using long beam BUT you're not really dazzled. Many drivers are flashing, even though they are not dazzled. So yes, matrix works as expected and is not dazzling, but you're being flashed by "overly sensitive" drivers, that are over-reacting. Only situations where matrix do not work as expected are related to trucks. On some dual carriage roads, the barrier can block visibility of truck's lights to the camera, but it's driver is dazzled. On those roads system should not switch on high beam on the left (or right in UK) side to avoid this, but this is based on the sat-nav a believe, and not all roads seems to be marked correctly. Also when coming to a hill top, truck driver will be dazzled. I was analyzing recordings from the dash cam, where i've been flashed, and i could clearly see, that matrix worked as expected, it was just other driver that was over-reacting.

Pop pop,SOS
I don't think that's correct. As far as i know all versions can be upgraded to 1896, but in case you have older version now, they first need to upgrade to some other version (17xx?), and only after that they can upgrade to 1896. There was a picture of TPI concerning issues fixed by 1896. IF you can find it, just go to your dealership and report one of those issues (for example ACC not allowing you to overtake on the right side, or sat-nav not remembering your favorite destinations). This way they will have to upgrade according to TPI.

Hard brake pedal with the engine off
It is normal in O4 if you ask me. O4 has a new, electro-mechanical brakes servo, unlike older cars, that had vacuum servo. It means, that car's computers can operate the servo at any time. On many occasions my car is "hardening" the pedal as i have my foot on it. I literally can feel pedal is lifting my foot, and being a rather strong guy, i cannot really stop it. But to be honest i cannot remember now in what situations it does that. Will try to check and report back, when i have a chance. Again - it's a completely different servo/booster, than in old cars. Has nothing to do with vacuum.

That foam that is there, usually doesn't do a very good job for some reason. It's not strictly acoustical foam. So using a butyl mat mat and acoustic foam on a wheel arch usually brings quite an improvement. Some people are also using mats outside, on the plastic wheel arch cover.

Sound deadening project
Unfortunately tire noise is the biggest issue on majority of "cheaper" cars. I've tested Merc CLA, as i was considering it. It was even i bit worse than Octavia, which was very surprising. In general noise level in CLA is comparable to O4. But that's why i'm thinking about wheel arches. I think that would bring much bigger improvement, than other parts.
-
Sound deadening project
Are you going to do wheel arches? It seems that in Octavia tire noise is the biggest contributor to general noise level. It's not nearly as bad as in Leon (both 5F and latest one), but still it is something to improve.
