  1. Maybe. I’m going to try to argue it isn’t drivable. a lot of the controls for the car are operated through the screen which is unusable. It’s probably likely the battery will be flat anyway i can see the radio is on again and the screen looping whilst it’s parked up outside.
  2. Little update today the infotainment has been looping restarting all day, and when it wasn’t doing that, it was randomly muting. I’ve discovered it’s the slider touch area having phantom touches. Particularly the power button. that’s also what’s making it come on when the car is parked up. i don’t know what’s causing it but it got better later on in the day. It wasn’t that hot today. I’m going to call Skoda assist tomorrow and see if they’ll take it in.
  3. I use Apple car play exclusively. The cycling resets i experienced last year were when using car play. mines been fine since then too. To be fair it was fine for 6 months before it started too. the current problem is when the car is switched off for me, rather than when I’m driving it.
  4. I’m on 1941 it was doing this last spring, which prompted me to get it upgraded to 1941. The dealer did it though thankfully. I normally have very few of the catalogue of problems identified on this forum, but i do worry I’ll park it in the sun somewhere and come back to a flat battery.
  5. So mine has been parked up on the drive for the last two days. There’s been nice weather and the sun is shining into the cabin. through all yesterday and now this morning, the radio keeps switching itself on. Every time I’ve walked past it whilst gardening it’s been on, despite me turning it off each time. this morning i can see it looping and restarting. I’ve not driven it or moved it or anything beyond cycling the ignition each time i find it running. as soon as the sun went down it stopped, now this morning as soon as the sun shone on it, it starts again. anyone else have this problem?
  6. It sounds like it’s behaving the same as when you ask it to charge to full from the engine. that would reset after an ignition cycle. i wonder if it’s the early signs of your 12v battery dying. There’s been plenty of issues with earlier registered hybrids having mystery 12v battery drains, even when the high voltage battery is on charge.
  7. I find the e5 fuel tends to net a few more mpg. I guess it’s got 5% more petrol in it, so it ought to. In my opinion, and purely considering price, if the premium fuel is less than 10p a litre more than the standard e10, then it costs about the same to use it once you factor in the increase in mpg, you might feel the throttle is more responsive too and it may produce more power, but that’s likely to be subjective if you can notice such a difference. Tesco 99 e5 tends to be less than 10p more a litre than the regular e10 95.
  8. As above, it seems pot luck. mine sometimes remembers that i left it off, even if I’ve left it overnight. other times, naa. It just does what it wants without much rhyme or reason. it may well be linked to the app though, as the default temp it comes on at, seems to be linked to whatever the app last asked it to heat to, regardless of what temp you left it at when you just got out. another one of it’s features. At least the crashing, and setting resets seem to have stopped since 1941 upgrade
  9. if you set a “leave time” on the charger schedule it should do it i think, or if you just drive it right after it’s been charging. You’ll know it’s not pre conditioned when its when it’s not plugged in or not been charged for a number of hours and you just get in and drive in e mode, you’ll notice the power availability isn’t as high, and the amount of available regen is also lower.
  10. Yeah i second the above. I factor a 10kwhr charge to actually cost 11. my charger has an app, and 11.5 is probably the most it’s ever taken. That may also include a bit of cabin pre heating if i set it to come on for 15 mins on a cold day.

As above posters said, it’s the repeated reheating the cabin that is probably taking away a lot of range. if you’re going to drive a short distance, like 1 mile, then maybe consider pre heating, or just not having any heating at all for that journey. i can’t imagine you’ll feel much warmth in the time it takes to drive 1.5 miles anyway. maybe also try turning the regen off. i find it’s better to coast as much as possible rather than try and regen every time you lift off the throttle. If you plan your braking well then you can get the regen from the brake pedal when you actually need to slow down, very rarely need to actually use the friction brakes in normal traffic. I find I get better efficiency form coasting rather than cycling between regen, accelerating regen accelerating.

As usual, it depends where you intend to drive it, but I get about 30 miles in the summer, and 22 ish in the winter. i live i a fairly hilly area, and include some motor way use in that, which is not the best place to use up the battery really. for me, if I’m working from home, and just using it locally for days at end, then you can get away with not starting the engine ever. I got close to 1000 miles out of a recent tank of 35litre petrol fuel up. During that time, it was probably costing me about 12p a mile, which is cheaper than using petrol at about 14p, but not loads cheaper. If the weather is warm, you’ve got a tail wind, you turn the interior heating off, and start out with a warm battery whilst driving on a flat 40mph limit road, then yeah, I reckon you could muster 40 miles of range out of it. Maybe. I’m happy with it, but it’s a company car, so makes sense to me, not sure the extra cost would pay itself back if it were a private choice, as the savings aren’t huge unless you’ve got mega cheap electric.
  13. I was going to reply to this with the screen that showed the information you seek but it’s gone. I’m sure mine used to give a percentage of journey done on electric, and now it simply shows the electric range only, and the potential extra range if you turn off the heating etc. i wonder if the update to 1941 changed this.

As above, but you may also notice when the battery is cold or running low you don’t get full power as well as regen from it. if you set a departure time in the software, then it preheats the battery and ensures you’ll have full power, even if you don’t have 100% charge. if you don’t schedule a departure time, and just hop in it from cold, even if it’s charged up from a previous time, you may not have full power from it. Especially noticeable in the winter.
  15. it’s like that I’m afraid, there’s no setting you can use to change it. Google used to show in there and then stopped some time last year. I’m not sure it’s skodas fault to be fair. (Probably is though) apple maps is the only one I’ve found that still works on the virtual cockpit, but it’s not something that I personally find too big a deal and i tend to use google, although i notice google maps on the main screen has a slight delay and i have missed turnings before as a result. apple seems fine, and the maps look better to my eyes but their traffic doesn’t seem as good as googles. if only we could combine the best bits of all of them.

  17. it’s a vrs ordered jun 21 delivered September 22 so gawd knows when it was built. i missed out on the dials over maps virtual cockpit upgrade though, so i think it’s my21 build.

  19. They don’t have the rear lights strips in the doors. It’s a big shame as the kids are always disappointed about it. also the promotional models showed prior to the mk4 release had them, even the early brochures listed them, but none of the cars came with them. must have been a last minute decision to not include them at release. the vrs does have coloured lights in the rear footwells though, and illuminated door handles in the rear
  20. Mine was the same on delivery. they reset it when it went in for the battery level gauge being frozen at empty from new. it took them 22 months to build and deliver the car but they couldn’t find ten mins before handing it over to check it.

Mine does about 47mpg on petrol alone with an empty battery. that’s approx 15p a mile when fuel is around the cost it is now. on electric only at 33p kwhr you need to be averaging above 2.5miles per kwhr to make it cheaper than the petrol. on short journeys in cold weather, it can be as low as 1.5 miles kwhr. At the current daft electric prices, it’s a close run thing on whether it’s cheaper to run petrol or electric. If you can get cheap electricity then it gets to be much cheaper of course. I’ve not seen a public charger point yet that works out cheaper than burning petrol. (Apart from the free ones). I’m paying 27p kwhr at home so it’s a no brainier for me now, electric miles are cheaper than petrol, but 12 months ago, i was paying 33p kwhr, and that was the point where the petrol and electric cost the same in winter, and electric marginally cheaper in the summer. Geeky i know, but when your employer gives you hmrc rates for fuel, every mpg / kwh mile counts, or else you’re paying them to drive on business.
  22. This happened to me today. It tends to happen once every few months to me, seemingly without trigger. I assume it’s something to do with their servers. Very irritating though as it takes a while to put it all back how you wanted it. I’m on 1941, but it used to do it on 1889 too. Everything else is pretty stable, and was on 1889 too.
  23. Sounds an interesting upgrade ! Any idea on prices? did Audi do a better sub for those of us with hybrids? These are in a different location than the normal octavia models?
  24. yeah, just how naturally economical you are, and the sorts of roads you have near you. i live in quite a hilly rural area, so probably don’t do as well as someone in a city or something for example. I’d say you should get a fairly consistent 25 to 30 out of it.

It’ll depend how you drive it previously as to what estimate it gives you on the next charge. also the temperature has a massive influence on it, and whether you’ve scheduled a charge with a “leaving time” (i think it pre heats the battery). also the battery only has around 10/11 kwhr useable, as the rest is kept in reserve for when it’s showing 0%. on a hot sunny day, straight after a charge I saw 41 miles predicted on mine, in the middle of a cold winter it might be 25. i think the longest single electric journey I’ve done was 35 miles, with 50% of that on the motorway. With a tail wind. i found the air con doesn’t kill the range that much, but if you need to heat the cabin up, it drains it really quick.
