Fabia 2 85.
The question in Post 1 was answered by toot in Post 7. The rest of the thread is just guys trying to give me information about my car, of which I have very little.

Fabia 2 85.
I'm afraid I have no paperwork. Even the New Keepers slip I was given had an invalid document number. I do know, because I checked, that the VIN on the car and the VIN on my V5C match. I do have the original service book with dealer stamps up until until January 2014 and 35,080 miles. It has 45 codes for optional equipment (I assume these are things coded as against things fitted). It says it is a Fabia ELE, JHQ gearbox, BXW engine and paint code 9156. Not a lot else.

Fabia 2 85.
Sorry, I didn't make it clear in the title of the thread (thought i did in the first post), my car is a 16V.

Fabia 2 85.
It is a big wide tyre. I think it is 195/something R15 on a steel wheel with the yellow stickers as against 205/45 R16 on alloys. I have an extension pipe to fit so I can check the pressure without having to remove the wheel. I'll get the full spec when I do that.

Fabia 2 85.
Is my 2009 Fabia 1.4 16V a Fabia 2 85? Why I am asking is I was checking on "How Many Left" and if that is the model I have they were never a big seller but 83% of them are still registered with about another 20 SORNed. I have no idea what my particular "trim" is. I think it is what Parkers refer to as Standard Equipment. The list says Full size spare wheel but mine has what looks like a full size wheel but it has the yellow markings for a get you home wheel. Still only managed about 20 miles with it so far but I should get another 3.4 miles on Thursday! Can anyone recommend a headlight bulb upgrade?
A link to this was posted on ClubJazz this morning. May be of interest. Best car headlamp bulbs 2022.

Water in spare wheel well.
I used to work in the High Vacuum industry (Optical coatings and semiconductors) and I I have tube of silicone grease somewhere that you lightly rub on a rubber seal and then pretty well rub off. it is just a very expensive version of the products you mention. I'll dig it out and use that.

Water in spare wheel well.
The first thing I did was search Water in spare wheel well and it found everything but. I have been an active member of a Jazz forum for six years (I still am) and I know how annoying when new members keep asking the same questions innumerable times without doing a search. But thanks for the search on my behalf. Even doing the search again, a few minutes ago, it only pulled up my question and not the 2014 answer. I should have just Googled it, as you did, instead of using the site's Search. When I watched the first Video I realised that my car was valeted about three weeks back, probably with a pressure washer. That may well have been the problem. The hatch seal looks fine but I think I will check the tail lights as that one bolt fixing could easily be the cause.

Water in spare wheel well.
Today I decided to check my tyre pressures including the spare wheel. When I removed the spare to check it there was quite a bit of water in the spare wheel well. All old cars leak to a certain extent and I am not worried about it . I know that the Jazz I had previously had a problem with water ingress under the roof trims and it gathered in the spare wheel well. I never had bother with mine until I came to remove the tools before the car went off for scrap when there was water evident. What I am wondering is there any known spots to check or is it just a case of the hatch seal and around the tail lights. I just pumped it out and dried it with kitchen towel before tucking a 1 Kg silica gel pack in the tool moulding. There is no rust in the well and the trim in the boot space is clean and dry. Any suggestions?

Blower fan not working.
Thanks for that. They are just on the way to my local Morrisons. I phoned them this afternoon and asked for a quote to get my timing belts changed. He will price the job and phone me tomorrow. I have service history for the car up to January 2014 and 35K, but nothing since. The belts were changed a year earlier at 26.5K, but who knows if they have been looked at since. I think it prudent to change them. Now approaching 70K.

They are just a small car sales with a reasonable workshop attached. They do not do work other than on cars they are preparing for sale and warranty work.

Blower fan not working.
The dealer fitted a new blower fan motor for me and it is working great. He phoned to say he could bring it round in an hour if I would be home and I said yes. About 45 minutes later he phoned to say he would be a bit late as when moving it in the garage he thought the back brakes were sticking so he had but it up on the ramp. Both back brakes were scuffing so he stripped the drums off, cleaned every thing up and lubricated the pivot points. I was quite impressed because a less scrupulous garage would have brought the car round to me and left me to find a problem further down the line. So today I had my new car, driving great, Climatronic system working as it should and delighted with the dealer service. A big thank you to Danderhall Cars.

2008 fabia
I had exactly the same with my 56 plate Honda Jazz. There was nothing to feel with weight on and off but new drop links solved the problem. I therefor agree with Murdockman.

It is just a small independent car sales. They get five star reviews and they will be getting another from me.

Blower fan not working.
Dealer took the car in about 16:00 and phoned me at 21:00 to say the blower motor is defective and he has ordered a replacement. He offered to put the car back together, so I could use it until the part arrived, but as it was a pig to get out I told him just to keep the car until it is repaired. It is not though I need it.

Blower fan not working.
Thanks I will do. Managed to get the car taxed today now that the DVLA has reopened so was able to go for a short drive and fill up with petrol. The car was a delight to drive with incredibly light steering after the Jazz (with Honda's first foray into EPS).

Blower fan not working.
This morning I took the opportunity of the good weather to dive back into the fuse box and check the voltage. With the ignition on there is 12v at the fuse so the X Contact Relief Relay is energising and switching. That only leaves the Fresh Air Blower Control Unit and the fan motor. I will leave the rest to the dealer to sort out. I am beginning wish I had never bought this car. I know all cars have issues, especially old ones but I have not even had it out on the road yet, and I am scunnered of it already.

The Climatronic is the fully automatic system so you have no "4" setting. The system has been working since I got the car and then yesterday, without changing anything, it didn't. The fuse information in the manual and the Haynes manual match and there is a 30A fuse where I would expect a 30A fuse What I did notice for the first time yesterday was an intermittent click from behind the dashboard. Thinking about it, I wonder if the X Contact Relief Relay is trying to pull in but not managing. I tried the pollen filter advice from rum4mo but I am too old and stiff to get up under the dashboard. Tomorrow, which is forecast dry, I will get my multi-meter out and see if there is 12v reaching the fuse. This is the part I am interested in:

Blower fan not working.
Thanks. I will try that. I have had a look at the circuit diagram and the X Contact Relief Relay comes before the fuse so that not operating would stop the fan from getting power. I will check to see if I am getting 12v at the fuse in the next couple of days. That should isolate it to the relay or the motor. An acquaintance had to replace the fan motor in his Ibiza at the same sort of mileage. I hope it is not the motor as that appears to be a dashboard out job.

Blower fan not working.
2009 Fabia 1.4 16V. Went out to start the car this morning and the blower fan is not working. Car has the Climatronic system. The control panel is working, I can hear the air flow valves working. Just no fan. I checked the 30 Amp blower fuse (Fuse 39) in the under dash panel and it is okay. What can I check next before returning it to the dealer?

No heating
I normally go by the richest figure they give. Antifreeze is cheaper than an engine.
-
No heating
That is why you should go by the manufacturer's recommendations. I regularly check mine with a antifreeze hydrometer.
-
No heating
The stronger you make the antifreeze the less it cools the engine so you can have overheating issues if you make it too strong. For best engine cooling it should be plain water, possibly one of the reasons, back in the day, that you just put antifreeze in in the winter.

New owner questions.
I had two SAAB 99s one behind the other. I had a Carlton and a 2.0L Cavalier CDi, both lovely cars and both automatics. I followed that with a Volvo S40 auto so ended up with 25 years and no need to use my left leg. I had a spell as a bus driver which were also automatics so I took ill out when I reverted to the manual Jazz.

New owner questions.
I started driving in 1965 and have been behind the wheel of something ever since. I still enjoy driving, even on today's busy roads. I do not know if my car has Stop/Start technology or not. It doesn't seem to have it or if it does it hasn't kicked in yet. I have 2x1 Kg Silica Gel pouches in the car. I have kept them in the car for the past five years and with judicious regenning they do a good job of keeping the car dry. The reason I went for the Fabia as against another Jazz was purely on cost and availability. The Jazz failed it's MOT, terminally, and I needed a reasonably priced car, quick and local. You could say it was a "distressed purchase". The Jazz was my first ever Japanese car. I tended to buy SAABs, Volvos and Vauxhalls this last 40 years. never had a Ford newer than a 1956!
