1.6 CR TDI Fabia crank but no start (no OBD codes)
What does coding a battery mean? All I have ever done is taken a battery off and fitted a new one. Can someone please explain for an old Luddite?

Gear Box Swap
If you want to drive at more than105 mph why did you buy a Fabia 1.2?

Short Circuit in Rear Wiper
It is not a short circuit. That would take the fuse out. Something is causing a drain. There is a lot more in the circuit than just the rear wiper.

1.6 CR TDI Fabia crank but no start (no OBD codes)
As soon as I have starting issues I replace the battery. You can drive a car with dodgy brakes or steering (not that I am advocating either) but a car that won't start is only good for keeping chickens in.

Another issue with my Climatronic.
Today I went out to check the pulley was rotating and when I switched on the ignition the Climatronic unit behaved itself. I turned on the aircon full blast and the temperature dropped quickly. I had cleared the 318 code yesterday so perhaps it was just a transient that caused it in the first place. Or maybe the gas pressure is just on the limit. I'll see how it goes over the next few trips out.

Another issue with my Climatronic.
Checked the pressure sensor out. It was easily identified and reached. The connections are pristine, like brand new. No sound evident when switching from Auto to Econ or back again.

Another issue with my Climatronic.
I'll check it out when the rain stops. Thanks.

Another issue with my Climatronic.
I'd probably check the switch out if I knew where it was and if it was accessible to a crippled old man. Haynes manual is no use.

Another issue with my Climatronic.
The Climatronic generated the code and displayed the error. I didn't do a short shunt. We had been shopping, I parked the car in the drive and later when I went to move it it started flashing the moment I turned on the ignition. I won't be getting the system checked until nearer the summer so if it wants to repair itself, it will have plenty time. And as KenONeill says. if KwikFit doesn't make it colder there is no charge.

Emergency key.
The only door with a key lock is the driver's door but I am sure if I can open the driver's door I could get into the boot somehow.

Another issue with my Climatronic.
I may just give KwikFit the job. They may very well do more regasses than AVW. And £15 is £15.

Another issue with my Climatronic.
Went out with the car this morning fine, with nothing untoward. When I returned it to my drive I had to shunt it nearer to the workshop and on restarting it the Climatronic unit flashed for about 10 seconds before reverting to seemingly normal operation. After a bit of research I interrogated the unit and it threw up error code 318 which refers to Air Conditioner Pressure Switch. I assume, rightly or wrongly that this signifies low gas pressure. Hopefully a regas will cure the problem. My local indie VW/Skoda charges £80 and KwikFit £65. I wonder if it is worth the extra to have the indie do it.

Emergency key.
Page 40 of the owners manual. If the vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft alarm system*, you must unlock the vehicle by inserting the key into the driver door you then have to insert the key into the ignition lock and switch the ignition on within 15 seconds after unlocking the door. The alarm will be triggered if you do not switch on the ignition within 15 seconds.

Emergency key.
If I open my car with the key I have to turn on the ignition within 15 seconds or the alarm goes off.

Emergency key.
I have only one key for my car and am currently unable to afford to have another programmed key manufactured. I am not concerned about losing the key but I have a fear of accidentally locking it in the boot. If I had a cheap key cut by the likes of Timpsons, would it allow me to unlock the car to gain access and hopefully retrieve the real key? I know the alarm would sound after 15 seconds but we are talking about the car probably sitting in my drive at the time. Currently, if I open the boot by itself I unlock it then put the key back in my pocket before lifting the hatch, but one day I will accidentally drop the keys in the boot or possibly lay them in the boot while I pick something up. And yes, I do know I can just unlock the entire car then it won't lock automatically!

spare wheel
I had a similar question regarding my unused spare on my Honda Jazz which though 12 years old looked brand new with no signs of cracking or aging. I contacted Bridgestone who manufactured the tyre and received the following: “Thanks for your mail, which has been passed to me for reply. For this space saver tyre, if the tyre has been stored in good condition and is displaying no signs of ageing then it should still be suitable for emergency use. However I would stress that space saver tyres are a temporary mobility solution and if used, should be changed for a full sized tyre as soon as possible, driving for a maximum of 50 miles at 50mph. As with any natural product, rubber does age and will become more susceptible to cracking as it does. The rate of ageing depends on how the tyre is stored and what it is exposed to. We cannot offer an official cut-off point at which a tyre should not be put into service but based on my own knowledge I would recommend changing a tyre of this type once it is 10 years from date of manufacture. I hope this helps, and if you need any more info, let me know. Best regards Pete Peter Moulding Lead Field Engineer Bridgestone UK Ltd”

Electric windows problem.
Personally, I would pop the switch out and short the live feed to each of the two window feeds to see what effect that has.

Large stain under the car.
This afternoon I went to walk down to see my GP (recovering from Covid) and I noticed a large dark wet patch under the car. It is immediately under the driver's seat (standing on my level drive). I wasn't sure if it was oil. water or petrol but as there was no smell I assumed it wasn't the latter. On my return I managed to get down on my hands and knees and it appears to be water. The coolant level is fine and so is the screenwash reservoir. Could it be condensate from the aircon? I drove about 5 miles this morning with the Climatronic unit in Auto. Seems a lot of water for the condensate a trip like that should generate. Anyone any ideas where it might have come from?

climatronic flashing
I always left it switched to Auto, irrespective of the weather. I do the same with the Climatronic system. If you don't run it the seals dry out and you lose the charge. I cannot remember the last time I opened a car window. Very few times since they did away with the Forth Bridge toll booths.

The cars I have owned with aircon it was never off, summer or winter.

That Hella Climatronic control is not the Climatronic unit fitted to my Fabia.

Problem with dip beam lights on skoda fabia mk2
As Crasher says, the column stalk is the culprit. The rotary switch is Off - Side - Main. The stalk selects which of the main lights operate, Dip or Full beam.

Very occasional oil warning light and alarm on 2013 1.2tdi
I would suspect the sensor first off. It is easy enough to replace and at under a tenner, not going to break the bank.

Headlights.
I used the car for about 10 miles today. After parking I had some jobs to do, then about 15-20 minutes later I checked the battery voltage (before reconnecting my charger) and it was 12.6 volts.
