  1. Well it was very windy on Good Friday when we made our way down from Aberdeenshire to Edinburgh. The ATC cut in a few times when particularly vicious side winds caught us. You just feel a slight tug as the brakes apply. We also have Alko shocks fitted to the 'van which helps with stability too. ATC is a great bit of kit and is worth the £400. I would imagine you would reap the benefits more on the Vendee than we do on the shorter Majestic. The Octy was very stable with our previous non ATC Bailey, but every little helps.
  2. Oh we have had 4 Rangers! The Vendee is a cracking 'van, good luck with it.
  3. 30 ish towing a Bailey Pageant Series 6 Majestic weighing in at 1170Kg. Great towcar btw. Coped well with windy weather on Good Friday, though Alko shocks and Alko ATC on the 'van no doubt help. Wifi-ing this from the 'van just now as we are on our Easter trip! What Bailey are you getting? Our current one is our fifth Bailey! A wee pic attached!
  4. Well I have just passed 10000 miles and the mpg is still climbing. I am currently getting high 40's, or low 50's on a longer run.
  5. I love mine! Not felt the need to modify it in any way.
  6. My towbar (fixed swan neck) was fitted by an outside firm at the dealers request. The electrics I would guess are not Skoda's own. No problems so far, was worried that the grey socket would be wired correctly to pick up the new Alko ATC electronic stability system fitted on my new caravan but it was fine. Have a buzzer fitted for the indicators, slight problem is that it is quieter than in previous towcars so you do need to listen out for it. Approximately 2000 towed miles since September 2007, no problems so far. But the vRS doesn't have reverse sensors nor does it have an ESP.
  7. I'd have another on in a shot, either another vRS or a Scout is they ever get round to putting the 170 TDi or its replacement in it! I had 3 Peugeot 306 DTurbo's in a row, always a different colour and the last one was the HDi, but like to stick with a winning formulae! Certainly the case with caravans, 5 out of the 6 caravans we have owned since we married in 93 have been from the same maker, the first 4 from the same range. So maybe i'm just a creature of habit. Whatever i'm a Skoda fan now and for the forseeable future.
  8. I was thinking that too. Mine has a buzzer.
  9. Took my car in for its first service on Saturday, six months to the day after I picked it up. Anyway saw several cars going out with 08 plates on them. A Fabia, a Scout and a vRS exactly the same as mine.
  10. Yep looks like a cycle rack to me. The towbar should have some sort of makers plate on it.
  11. I agree on both counts! I notice Seat have the 170bhp TDi in its 4x4 Altea.
  12. You already know my opinion on that one Darren!!
  13. I have heard of this sort of issue before, think it was with the Volvo V70/XC70. Best to get the right thing. Personally I would keep the fixed bracket. Not a fan of removables my self. Remember if you insure your car with the Caravan Club you will get a discount cos the Scout was a class winner in the towcar of the year, 20% from memory. It actually states any model from the range of a class winner so I will be after them for a discount when they send my renewal in July.
  14. I'd certainly want an 08 car this close to the 1st March. Or a substantial distance.
  15. No problems with mine in just under 10000 miles since September, well I have a side light bulb that needs replaced!
  16. I got free servicing on mine, well for the first three services anyway. Thought this was a long term offer?
  17. Just done a long solo trip down to Glasgow for the Caravan Show. According to the computer we averaged 52mpg with cruise set to 70. Pleased with that!
  18. Well i'm a bit ticked there is gonna be a new engine in the vRS when I specifically asked if there were any updates coming when I got mine last September. Something to look forward to in 2010 I suppose when its time to change.
  19. Well the swan neck bracket on my Octy was fitted by an independant specialist recommended (and arranged by) the dealer. There was a lot of chat about this in the caravan press a few years ago. At that point a lot of makers were insisting that own brand brackets were fitted, sometimes at inflated cost. I THINK the status quo is now that it shouldn't effect your warranty. But you should satisfy yourself this is the case. My understanding is that the towbar maker themselves would offer a warranty to cover any shortfalls. How this goes for the electrics side i'm not sure. However the only time I have had a problem with towing electrics was with a bracket fitted and wired by a VW dealer on my then new Golf GT TDi. I am happy with my bracket/electrics and didn't want Skoda's offering.
  20. I presumed it was the turbo, but then i'm not very technical!
  21. LOL neither of us drink! Will certainly think about it come spring.
