  1. Can't wait to see a Yeti in the flesh. We are currently out on tour with the caravan and are not near any dealers with roadshows at the right time. Can see a 170 CR TDi being our next car. Looking forward to see how the caravan press rate it. Roll on March 2011 when I anticipate buying one God willing!
  2. I tow 1175Kg with a vRS CR TDi without any problems. Seen lots of 1.9's out and about and all their owners rave about them ... most of them towing more than you intend. I certainly have towed that sort of weight in the past with 90 bhp HDi pugs with no problems.
  3. I have read towing tests of various Superb's and Octavia's with DSG in the caravan press. Lately it hasn't had good press, the testers feeling its slow to react etc. BUT actual owners always come back and say it's great and it tows well. Never towed with, or even driven a DSG myself. My dad has just changed to a Jaguar XF TD with an auto box, he has been towing now for 45 years and this is his first auto ... he loves it!
  4. Wow this is an old thread ... that car has come and gone and been replaced by another vRS (caravan has changed too) ... again fitted with a fixed bracket. Currently out on tour here is a picture to prove it!
  5. Don't see why not as long as you keep the weight down. I'm sure one of the caravan mags tested a Golf with that engine and found it fine. Ultimately a diesel is a better towcar, but towing may only be a small part of your yearly mileage so as ever life is a compromise.
  6. Not had any wheel spin issues with either vRS ... but we will be looking at a Yeti next time round. Or a Scout if by then its available with the 170 CR unit.
  7. Ta but when the time comes i'll get the experts to do it ... I know my limitations! Enjoy your Scout ...if it tows as well as my vRS you'll be laughing!
  8. This seems to be an issue with many cars fitted with 13 pin sockets from the factory. I have read a few isssues on caravanning forums/mags stating that the pins for fridge/battery/ATC are not wired. My dealer arranged to have towbars fitted by a local specialist to both my vRS's. They have both been correctly wired (albeit twin sockets). We will possibly change our 'van next year for one with a 13 pin socket ... same specialist will take £45 to change the twin sockets to a 13 pin.
  9. My previous 57 plate vRS PD TDi did this once. Called Skoda Assist out. They replaced an exhaust sensor and all was well. No more problems till I traded the car in.
  10. Had a vRS estate, now a vRS hatch. Can't say i've noticed a difference.
  11. Cheers loon! We set off next Friday on our grand tour! So if you spot a red vRS hatch happily pulling a small but perfectly formed caravan heading for Culloden it's us! After that we will be found at Invernahavon, Markinch, Dunbar, Northumberland (eeek that's England), Edinburgh, Scone, Banchory and back to the Broch. I will vRS spot along the way! I dare not go and look at the facelifted vRS! Anyway WE have decided WE want a Yeti next ... well to be accurate Heather-Jane has decided we want a Yeti next!! Meantime it's a week of house chores before we set off. Nae luck!
  12. Had CD error the other day ... because i'd put a DVD in by mistake! Apart from that no problems.
  13. Looks like there will be loads of Octy's in our happy land then! Mine will be out and about a lot over the next few weeks as the school holidays are almost here and there is serious caravanning to be done! Happy days!
  14. Maybe best to ask in a caravanning forum eg Caravan Talk or the Practocal Caravan website. More than happy with my Octavia's towing ability but they've both been diesels so doesn't help you much!
  15. You do see more and more of them all the time. Get down as far as Edinburgh and they are there by the shed load!
  16. Have done 5000 miles with our CR since March. Loved my old PD vRS, but the CR is so much better and economy is probably +5mpg, averaging 50.
  17. Go for a specialist. Our Skoda's have both been fitted with brackets by local specialists prior to collection at a cost of under £400 for a fixed bracket with twin electrics.
  18. My previous vRS TDI Estate was a 57 plate with 30000 on the clock, usual extras plus cruise. It's on sale at the dealers we traded it in to at £12600. That said it's been there since 1st March so no one has bitten their hands off yet!
  19. I'm on my second Skoda with DPF. The first covered 30000 miles (5000 towing just under 1200Kg), the second so far has covered just short of 4000 miles ( just under 1000 towing). Have had no issues whatsoever with the DPF. Welcome to the wonderful world of caravanning!
  20. New vRS looks good, will happily buy one next time round. However i'm not too bothered that I bit the bullet and bought a new old style one in March! The Mrs is breathing a sigh of relief as we speak!
  21. Interesting. I've had the alarm go off twice. Once on my 57 plate vRS and now once on my 09 vRS. Both times have been towing the caravan. A check on tyre pressures showed nothing amiss. I must admit I regularly change the tyre pressures - upping them for towing then lowering when we arrive on site/home but never reset the TPM. Any suggestions??? Just ignore it??? Rather alarming though as both times it has happened it has been when bowling along at 60 on the motorway.
