  1. This is how the B&O Looks like in a A5 with no spare tyre but with storage space.
  2. Well, at least you got it going, prob. also the enclosure volume has something to say about the improvement since the box is designed for the speaker but you will see. I also have the sub in my B&O Q5 (where I got the idea from in the first place) and it is more than enough for me without all the hi-lo, cables and all the fuss around a 10-12" bass box. Now, for the Hi-Lo, the Canton amp as well as the others (Also B&O amp is made by Harman Kardon) have resistance checks and the only adapter I got and worked flawlessly is: https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/helix/accessories/aac.3-hp . The sub I used with it was JBL BassPro Hub and I wasn't satisfied since, as I understood from other colleagues on this and other forums the bass signal coming from the amp to the OE sub is filtered and also capped at a certain level form where only mids go up and in a later stage also the highs are getting filtered to other frequencies. The only way to really boom the AM sub would prob be to get the signal with a DSP or from "full range" front speakers. Another idea is what I posted in the past threads: The Match PP w-8q. You can see the result here in A5-A7 with Canton Amp, so it delivers more than enough: and here: My Helix AAC is now in a drawer since I am no longer using it in my cars.
  3. Never played with Dayton audio before but I've heard great things about it. Go for it and keep us updated on the sound improvement
  4. Sadly no, I have also searched for front speakers some time ago and didn't find any decent 8Ohm. The only way to go is a separate DSP and move to 4Ohm 😞
  5. Yes, you have the big spare, I have the sff 18 inch. Leave the phase as it is and just swap it. For 50-80 Quid it's just for fun Through the years I've had Hifonics, Jbl, Hertz etc. and I can state that the B&O is perfect in Canton if you don't want just "boom boom" but balanced sound. For better understanding, this is one of my "late" subwoofers https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/hifonics-atlas-atl12bp-1200-w-car-hi-fi-subwoofers-5596562 The difference in sound is obvious and you can check the other threads on Canton to see the feedbacks from those who did it. Also, you can try to fit a 3X4ohm sub from Match into the enclosure but it really depends on the taste and budget. The Match will shake your steering wheel levers but will overpower the speakers. Finally after searching the net for more than 3 years I can say that I found what I needed in both of my Skodas, and that is the B&O. I am looking into modifying the enclosure for the Match sub but it's just for fun since I don't really feel the need for more punchier bass.
  6. If you have it in the spare, yes. Keep in mind that is bulkier so if you have the plastic containing the spare kit tools on top of the actual sub (Like in Octavia RS with Canton), you will have to find another space to store them. In rest it is plyg and play and not Plug and Pray
  7. Neah, nobody is laughing. Confusions happen all the time Now it depends on your budget, you can go for Match products that come with OE plug and play harnesses, you can go for Vibe/Hifonics, Jbl BassProHub spare wheel subwoofer and so on. If you are new to this the best way to go is drive to a car Hi-Fi specialist and start there from the budget that starts from ~600 and...well....much higher limits depending on your wallet size. Regarding the Audi sub, you will surely find a member here that will want it, very soon Here are some examples: https://www.ars24.com/lautsprecher/nach-automarke/skoda/26846/skoda-octavia-iv-front-und-heck-lautsprecher-dsp-verstaerker-subwoofer-v4-sound-upgrade https://hertz-audio.com/collections/car-audio-speakers/
  8. Most likely. But as the thread says Canton System Upgrade so whoever goes for a sub without having Canton...
  9. Sad, I have yet to see one without here in RO, but I guess it depends on the importer/dealer and market request on optionals.
  10. He said he has room for a full spare. The 2021vRS comes with Canton so he is good2go. The RS comes with a small form 18" spare, a flushed Canton and some toolbox plastic cover so he will fit it. The screw should be an M8 with a 10 nut and around 7-8 cm in lenght if I remember correctly.
  11. My bad, I thought that you are the colleague with the Superb. Go for it and ignore my last comment.
  12. You have it in a post on this thread by yours trully: 80A035382A Get it, plug it in and...give the feedback here Or nevermind, you have the Sonavox Sub, it is more than enough for you. Don't switch it because the sub comes in the spare, you have the sub on the left side. It won't fit
  13. Glad to hear that we had the the first success on this! I am also investigating the sub mod for the iV guys and also the Drop-In speaker to the original Canton Box. From what I have found so far it seems that we have a chance with the Sonavox box from Superb FL 3V0035412. I have listened to the sonavox (Canton) on Superb and it also sounds right and tight but the positioning of the box is in the far rear corner of the boot. For the iV members this just might be it. Looking forward to other happy members that got rid of the crappy Canton sub
  14. It is a real pain to upgrade this picece of .... subwoofer but this is the closest I got to a suitable (even surprisingly satisfying) sound. The 2x100 2x8Ohm is a real pain in the back. I am really looking forward to your and another colleague that texted me by PM feedback. You should be amazed It desires its pound of flesh for retrofitting and fixing it propperly but it is my opinion that it is well worth it. For A5/A7 there is no comparison. It literally obliterates the existing stock subwoofer.
  15. For NX3 you will need to ditch the small organizer on top if you have a low/small spare. It is bulkier than the thin Canton. It fits well in the normal spare. You can try to move the speaker from one enclosure to the other but I have not tried it and dont know if the speaker will fit and if it does if the Canton box will be enough from air dispersion, volume etc. pov.
  16. LE: I've heard about retrofits that sadly need to modify a bit the sub housing but with greater improvement for the bass (surpasses the B&O) using https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/match/subwoofers/pp-8w-q Basically you bridge 2x3Ohm coils and you end up with 2x6Ohm that are in the comfort zone of the amp. There are some vids online and also on thr ru forums about this but it's alot more complicated and also expensive.
  17. Dunno about hybrid subs. The B&O is around 100E and a lot more from suppliers, in a new, of the shelf. I bought mine for 50 quid and I consider myself lucky with that price. For hyb maybe you should investigate the sub on the Superb. I've lived with it for about a week and it didn't dissapoint. I also believe that the specs are the same with 2x8ohm(the biggest pain in the a... when trying to replace the Sub)
  18. It has almost triple the size of the Canton sub Magnet and is louder, deeper, punchier. Given that The Canton Sub with Front setting and +3 Sub volume starts to clip at half the volume, the B&O Sub sustains the +9 Volume at any level. This should give you an ideea about the difference. For comparison, it sounds better than the sub in the Superb 3. Or if you go by an Audi dealer, listen to it in the Q5. Swap it, it will amaze you. PS: you will also need a nut and a thread to tighten it. The OE NX3 plastic thread will not fit through the B&O Sub.
  19. As I also posted in the thread above, I will also leave the info here given that is so hard to find propper info on this "Upgrade" or retrofit: What you need to do it OE Style is: 1. Audi 80A035382A* take care for the code because 80A035382(Without the A) is on 40W and 2Ohm single channel 2. Skoda 5E5867427P for replacing the empty space after the removal of the Canton Sub Box 3. 191972714 Female plug (You plug the male connector that goes now into your Canton Sub) 4. 7n0972704 Male connector plug (That goes into the B&O Subwoofer). Take care of the pinout to keep the phase correct and enjoy the bass that should have been there from the start. There is no comparison between the old sub and new. You really feel that you have the 200W in the trunk, no distortion, sub volume can be kept at +9 without any issues, at ANY volume level. I also suggest to add some sound insulation in and on/around the subwoofer box. This will remove the rattling and plastic resonance sound and make the deeper frequencies clearer. Enjoy!
  20. For all you guys that are really tired of this crappy bass and want to fix it permanently without adding anything else like DSP and Amps+Helix AAC+(or other alternatives) get the Audi 80A035382A and retrofit it into the spare wheel cutting the foam if you have storage space or adding it if you have a spare wheel. What you need to do it OE Style is: 1. I also suggest to add some sound insulation in and on/around the subwoofer box. This will remove the rattling and plastic resonance sound and make the deeper frequencies clearer. Enjoy!
  21. Gents after adding an aftermarket sub (JBL Basspro Hub)+Helix AAC+HP I decided to take another route and use the Canton amplifier for the Subwoofer. The universe finally shed some light on this big sound issue that affects all of the octavias with Canton (Crappy speakers) in pointing me to the solution. On the 2021+ Audi's with B&O the spare wheel subwoofer is rated 2X8Ohm 2X100W and is literally plug and play with the NX3 Canton system. The sound difference is mind bobbling. The PN is 80A035382A and not 80A035382 that is on Audi Sound System and rated 1X 40W at 4Ohm Enjoy!
  22. Indeed, if I moved the gain 7% with the OEM pinout, and above 15% on the bass eq the sub was cutting/clipping also with no <60Hz output. Sadly I haven't saved any measurements. If I'll get the chance I will try to redo but given that I wraped everyting in textile tape I might be to lazy to disassemble
