  1. The car with 80k miles was previously owned by British Gas and that does have the full Skoda service history, so I would be more happy that everything that should have been done has been. The car with partial non-Skoda service history I will need to find out more information, as all she could tell me last night was no recorded services in 2021, and two in 2022 - but she didn't have the details to hand of what work was carried out.
  2. There’s also another one at a smaller dealer which has does have full Skoda service history, but has more miles (81,000]
  3. Hi All, I’m going to look at a 2018 Octavia 1.0 SE Technology DSG for sale at a Carshop branch at the weekend. It’s currently on 60,000 miles and they have told me the previous owner was Leaseplan. This isn’t a huge surprise as I got the impression this model was aimed at fleet buyers. They went on to say that the service history is only partial. They don’t have a record of service on 2021, but two services were carried out in 2022, by Halfords (given the reputation of my local Halfords I’m not sure what to think of that). Is there anything in particular I need to be looking out for on the car, or anything specific with the 1.0 engine and DSG gearbox? Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated…
  4. Apologies, but I don't have any tools to check the version on my car. It took a lot of complaining to get a fix applied to my car, to the point of me saying "can you please look at the 23 plate loan Octavia you have given me where climate sync holds, and my car where it doesn't". To be fair they did just that, and sent the comparison off to Skoda Technical. I asked for more information from the dealer a few weeks ago as another forum member asked me for details. However, they said they were not allowed to provide details of the update applied, but that another Skoda dealer could look at the details of my car to see what work had been done. The only other comment about the update was that "it came direct from the factory".
  5. Hi all... I'm looking at getting a 2018/2019 Octavia with either 1.0 or 1.5 TSi engine. Can anyone clarify the cambelt change interval, as I'm getting mixed messages from the dealers selling the cars, and not all are franchised dealers. Looking on-line there doesn't seem to be a clear answer either, with some comments that Skoda have changed the intervals from 5 years to 10 years. As the 2018 cars are 5 years old quite a few are noted as having the belt changed, however, another car for sale is at 90k miles and the non-franchised dealer is saying it doesn't need to be done until 140,000 miles. Would appreciate some guidance, and a rough cost to change the belt... Many Thanks..
  6. I've had all of the issues you mentioned above, except the last one about randomly switching to a guest profile. When my car was with the dealer in June they told me they applied a large update to several modules in the car, plus another update from the factory to specifically address the climate sync issue. Apart from the infotainment reboots it did resolve everything. The jury is still out on the matrix lights as I've not really had a chance to use them during the summer, so we'll see. When they're activated you'll soon find out from other drivers if they're being dazzled. The issue with them was that they were configured for a left hand drive car (similar to the climate sync issue)
  7. This was one of the issues I experienced with the Sat Nav. After a few of the Pop, Pop, SOS alerts the module would eventually give up, and take the satnav with it. Virtual Cockpit wouldn't display the live map data anymore, and the GPS would put me a few hundred metres to the side of the road causing constant route re-calculations. In my time with the car I think I've had most of the issues that others on this forum have experienced... Pop, Pop, SOS... infotainment crashing.... climate SYNC not holding... Matrix lights dazzling oncoming cars. I'm pleased to say that all of my issues have now been rectified through software updates to various modules within the car. Ultimately you will probably need to push the dealer on this, but there are software fixes out there for all of the issues you have. I think my car ended up going back to the dealer around 10 times, and on several occasions I've been without the car for several weeks. I found it did help a little to raise the issue with Skoda UK Executive Office. It seems once a ticket is assigned by them, the dealer can use it to get more of a 'priority' service from Skoda Technical. So if you don't get the issues resolved on this next visit, it may be a route worth looking at.
  8. the TPI number is: 2069590. The dealer told me today this TPI didn't apply to my VIN, and they found another TPI which did apply to my VIN, and that also recommended applying the 1941 update. Here's a link to the forum post which contains the TPI to download: Link to forum post Anyway, I think if you tell me the infotainment system is restarting multiple times, and reference the TPI in the forum post above as a friendly nudge I suspect they'll put you on 1941.
  9. I'm not sure you can insist that the infotainment is upgraded as I believe they have to carry out their own investigation. I told them my infotainment was constantly restarting and also supplied a copy of the TPI document suggesting others owners had found it had fixed the issue. When I got the car back today they said that TPI did not apply to my car, but another did, and that also directed them to install 1941. They commented it was a huge update at 16GB in size.
  10. The dealer commented to me yesterday that there is now more than 1 TPI out which mandates upgrading the infotainment to 1941. He said the list of published bugs for 1896 is pretty extensive (which most of us know).
  11. My dealer is also aware of this. When I took my car in they asked if I had updated or tried to update to 1941 myself, as they are aware of some users doing this. Apparently when you do it yourself it generates fault codes, which need to be cleared. They went on to say if your car goes back to a dealer for subsequent work it will show up that an update has been applied in a "non-standard" way. If Skoda want to stop this happening, then push 1941 OTA to all vehicles so users don't get so fed up with their infotainment constantly restarting that they resort to taking the risk of doing it themselves.
  12. My 2021 car has had all of the issues mentioned above. They have gradually been solved. Two months ago the climate SYNC issue was fixed, and it's in today having the 1941 infotainment upgrade applied. I've had a 2023 Octavia as a loan vehicle several times this year. In some cases I had the car for a few weeks at a time and it had no issues at all. I have even used it as an example to the dealer, as it had no issues with the climate sync, infotainment restarting, etc. I said to the dealer "whatever software is running on the loan car, can you please install on mine". So I would say you would be fine in a 2023 car.
  13. I'm just done with the car now to be honest. I think I worked out that I'd driven 740 miles going back and forth to the dealer. Skoda UK just don't care either. Complete lack of interest. The Executive Office are just not interested.
  14. I'm sorry I don't. All I was told was that I was one of the first customers to trial a new software update package which was designed to address a lot of the known issues with the car. They did comment the update to fix the climate sync did require a software update on the AC controller (which would make sense). The update did fix pretty much everything except the Infotainment crashing. it's back in today for them to hopefully fix the Infotainment, when I pick it up in the next day or so I will try and find out what update they applied to fix the climate sync issue, and if there's a specific number related to it. I think I'm now on my 14th visit to the dealer for them to try and resolve all the software issues on my car.
  15. There's a separate software update that the Skoda dealers can apply which fixes the climate sync issue. My car had this applied a few weeks ago and SYNC works fine now. My car is going back next week for the 1941 infotainment update to be applied (hopefully)
  16. My car is going back into the local dealer for them to 'investigate' the constant reboot issue. Is TPI2069590-2 the correct item I need to be quoting for them to update my car? It went in a few weeks ago, they'd claimed they had fixed it, but but hadn't. So I now think I need to be more specific on what they need to look at and apply.
  17. It seems Skoda Technical have been taking more of an interest in these ongoing issues lately. My car was with them for 3 weeks in January as they wanted to use my vehicle to fully understand the issues and work out a plan to resolve them going forward for other Octavia owners. I've not had any SOS issues or the "Loading Settings..." issue since. I also had a problem where I couldn't set myself as the primary user of the vehicle. That was also resolved. I found getting photos or videos of the issues occurring (where possible) really helped the dealer troubleshoot an issue and prove their case with Skoda Technical. I notice your location is Hertfordshire... I've been using Marshall Skoda in Letchworth and they have been good.
  18. I'm getting the same message. I tried logging out and logging in again, but made no difference.
  19. The concern I have is that my wife's drive to work involves a 1.5 mile drive to drop my son off at his school, and then another 2 miles to her work, and then the same in the evening. I think in the long term if we don't get the additional long runs that it may cause a problem if we look at the diesel. Are there any issues with higher mileage 1.0 petrols? I've seen a few with 60-80k miles on them at not too ridiculous prices, and some with much higher mileage, but would probably avoid those, even though our mileage will probably be quite low.
  20. Absolutely agree, but I was thinking that if everything was deployed OTA, then sooner or later the infotainment would be in line for an upgrade, so I'd expect to see this version change as well at some point.
  21. In theory, those of us now on 1896.... should we receive an OTA update to 1900?
  22. My car is mostly ok since the 1896 update. However, normally at least once a week the infotainment system will crash and restart shortly after starting the car. When that happens I get a load of errors on the display similar to what you have. As soon as the infotainment has restarted all the errors are gone. As @AllanDJ says it seems they've never properly sorted the issues out. That being said I had a 2023 Octavia as a loan vehicle a few weeks ago, and didn't have a single issue with it in the week I had it. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe they've resolved the issues on newer cars and are not so interested in rectifying older cars. I have found it can help if you can take photos of the errors that get displayed, and pass them onto the dealer. I've had at least one issue the dealer couldn't replicate so didn't think existed as they couldn't replicate. When I sent them photos and a video of it occurring they couldn't ignore it.
  23. Yes, a lot of the 1.6 diesels are high mileage, so it would make sense that their previous owners may have been for taxi use. I think I will avoid the diesel and look to get the 1.0 or 1.5 petrol. We was going to get a small hatchback, but with the boot requirements, and for not a lot more money you can get an Octavia Estate we thought that would probably make the most sense. My wife was looking at things like 19 plate Hyundai i10/Kia Piccanto, and when you look at the prices they are selling for these days, you can get a 19 plate Octavia - but most with higher mileage.
  24. We was originally going to purchase a small hatchback for my wife to drive as her mileage really isn’t huge. However our young 2 sons now have bikes that don’t fit in the back of my hatchback Octavia without wheel removal or seats going down. As the seats can’t go down with them in the car, we have to remove wheels. Getting the wheels off is easy, it’s getting them is a real pain. I think we’d probably do a maximum of 5,000 miles a year. I imagine some of the family stuff we currently do in my Octavia would be transferred to the Estate car. Their seems to be a lot of the 1.6 diesels on Auto Trader at good prices, it if it’s going to potentially give us problems if we don’t do the mileage, then I’ll look at the Petrol.
  25. Hi All, I'm thinking about getting an Octavia Estate. As my wife would be the main user, she would be mainly doing short journeys during a lot of the week, with possibly longer runs at the weekend. I've seen quite a few 1.6 diesels for sale... given the main type of driving of the car, would getting the diesel be a bad idea? Should I be looking at the 1.0 petrol instead?
