Hopefully the furniture polish keeps the dampers quiet. If it doesn't you may need to upgrade to the lithium grease. Recalls such as this don't ever make it to that government website. It's internal to Skoda and the dealers. So you would need to goto the dealer and report the issue, and they should know about the recall for the specific issue. That's the theory anyway.

Have you tried unpairing and repairing the phone? Depending on the phone it could be worth trying Android Auto/Apple CarPlay instead?

I completely understand how frustrating it is when the infotainment behaves likes this. These issues are well known and understood, so the Skoda dealers do know how to fix this. It's frustrating that it keeps coming up on the forum that dealers want £100+/hour to "investigate" something they already know about. It might be worth raising this with the Skoda Executive Office. I recently had good success with them in getting a load of software updates issues paid for. My argument was that the issues were well known, and had been for several years. And they agreed to help. It did take a while to get to that point, but may be worth persisting.

@Justo Below is a picture of my windscreen. The circular section underneath the camera looks very different to your image. So if the rain sensor sits inside that circle, looking at your image I can see why the intermittent wipe function is not working. It looks like they've done a messy job in that area. Have they applied a sealant there when none is required? I would contact them.

What's your infotainment version? Also it would help to know whether you're connecting the phone via Bluetooth, or Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.

@Bobsko1 I had exactly the same issue last year, and it was the dampers that were the problem. The first product I tried only last a week before the rattling came back. @Warrior193 Thanks for the suggestion, it worked perfectly. I ended using some picture hanging wire. There was an element of luck with it as the wire had a small sharp bend on the end where it had been previously cut. As I lowered it down the gap it ended up getting caught, and wedged behind the lego. This allowed me to drag the lego up and out of the door.

That's a good suggestion. I'll have to see what I have at home. I have no idea why my 7 year old decided to do this... or tell me he'd done it while I was driving down the motorway! 😩

Hello All, So my youngest son decided to push a small flat piece of Lego between the window and door. I can just about see it, but have no idea how to get it out. I’ve not operated the window as I think will drag the Lego inside the door. Any ideas or hacks on how I can remove it without taking the trim off the door? Many thanks!

@MonkeyBoy2283 OTA does work for some updates without anyone logged in. I had a loan Octavia a few years ago that was brand new. There was only a guest user present. Within hours of me driving it, it was prompting to install various app updates. Things like map updates I would say a primary user would be required as it would need to check that you were subscribed to the service first. I would also be inclined to try another dealer. It's not good that they are making up false statements in an attempt to get out of doing the updates that should've been done before you were given the keys. If you post the area you live, then some people on here may be able to recommend a good dealer. I had this issue with being unable to login as primary user in 2023. The symptoms were the same as what you are experiencing. It was a known issue and the dealer resolved it fairly quickly with an update. OTA updates with the early cars are a bit of a mystery. Some forum members received them, but many didn't. My car has never received a "big" update such as infotainment or OCU. It receives app updates and map updates. I was told once the infotainment was taken to 1941 it would receive and apply the bigger updates. But it never has. The OCU has now been updated to 0311, so maybe it will going forward but I'm not hopeful. But certainly if your car is only very early software across all modules, it will need them updated before it stands a chance of receiving anything bigger going forward.

@MonkeyBoy2283 The Skoda dealer is talking complete and utter nonsense on this point. Skoda haven't turned the feature off. Many of us had this issue and it required a software update from the dealer to resolve. I think it was the OCU that was the culprit but I can't be 100% sure as it was a few years ago I had this issue. Ask them what version the OCU is on your car. The current version is 0311, and that has started to be pushed to some cars over the air in recent months. The previous version, 0144 was also stable. If your car is at an earlier version, then they have not updated all the modules that they are supposed to as part of the Skoda Approved Used agreement. In fact the 0311 release notes stated that it was a required update to ensure continued online functionality going forward.

@MonkeyBoy2283 Forgot to add, if you purchased the vehicle from a Skoda dealer they should've updated all the software prior to sale. The infotainment being on 1896 proves that wasn't done. So I would say you would have a case for going back to the dealer with this, as it's a known issue - and one that you would not be experiencing if they'd updated all modules are they're supposed to. In which case software updates should be free of charge. Possibly also worth contacting the Skoda Executive Office for help, as they may offer a contribution if there is anything to pay for the software updates.

Unfortunately I think you will require a visit to a dealer, or an independent garage if they have the tools to update software. I'm not 100% sure but I think it's the OCU that will need a firmware update to resolve this issue, and possibly some other modules too. This issue has come up a number of times on the forum, so all of the dealers should be very familiar with it and the steps needed to resolve it. However, many will say they need to investigate, send a report to Skoda, etc. All of which risks adding costs to your final bill. So if you can find a good dealer then that may be beneficial to you. My local dealer is Marshall Skoda Letchworth, and they have been very good over the years in sorting out all of the software issues with my car.

The dealer put my car up to 1985 when it went in for a service in February. It was absolutely fine, and my only negative experience with it was that there seemed to be far fewer radio station logos. Last week the car went in for an OCU update, and they also updated the infotainment to 1989. So far it all seems fine, and there seems to be a lot more radio station logos available now. I know looking at the threads on this forum that some people who've updated to 1989 have benefited from doing a factory reset of the infotainment after the update completes. When I picked the car up from the dealer I did have to login again, set myself as primary user, etc. So I suspect they did a factory reset (but I know the OCU update was also forcing people to sign in again).

I had a look there too - and it's not there 😃 So I've managed to answer my own question. It seems that the speed limit display is permanently on. Unless you are parked on your driveway off road. This is where the car was parked when I was logging back in, checking settings, etc. I didn't think the GPS would be sensitive enough to know that being a few metres away from the road would be enough to turn off the speed limit display. Hi All, My car has come back from the dealer today after having both the OCU (0311) and Infotainment (1989) updated. On previous versions of infotainment I had the road sign display enabled in the navigation as I don't have the traffic sign recognition feature on the car. I found it quite a useful feature. As the OCU had been updated I had to log back into the car and set myself as primary user, etc. The road sign display was never on by default. However, on 1989 I cannot find any option in the navigation settings to turn it on. I've even resorted to looking in the owners manual. Where it states it should be here: Route Guidance Settings -> Road signs -> Show on map However, the option is no longer there for me. Here's what I get on my display: Can anyone with 1989 confirm if they are seeing the same thing? Many Thanks...

I'm still on 26.2, and if I recall I only received that map update a few weeks ago. That being said I live in a very poor mobile reception area, and the car hasn't been used much lately - which could explain why it took so long to arrive in my case. But good to know 26.4 has been released.

Good luck with that conversation. The dealer told me it was an all day job, which didn't make sense to me given the OTA process seems to be around an hour. However, a friend put me in touch with someone who's carried out the OCU update process and they agreed with the dealer: So you'll probably get into a conversation about who's going to pay for tech's time... Let me know how you get on. You may have more leverage given the message that @SiWaiting translated on his infotainment stating the update needs to be done to ensure correct functioning of the vehicle going forward...

My car is due to go into the dealer to have the OCU updated in the next few weeks. They put me on 1941 a couple of years ago, and I never received any further infotainment updates. Similarly, since they put me on 1985, it hasn't ever prompted to install 1989, or for the OCU update to 0311 that this forum thread is discussing. I've spoken with another forum member who had their OCU update to 0144 a while ago, and they never received any pushes to take their infotainment up from 1985 to 1989. I'm thinking that maybe Skoda have a database of the capabilities of each vehicle as it left the factory. So even though an OCU maybe updated by a dealer to a newer version, which should enable additional features. It seems in reality this isn't happening. My guess would be that Skoda's own database would need to be updated to reflect the features available on a specific vehicle after an OCU update, and this isn't happening. This would be one explanation why after an OCU update infotainment updates aren't being pushed, remote lock/unlock and sending destinations via the app to the car are still not available.

I had pretty much the same response initially on 6th February: I've left my case number in the screenshot above in case you want them to try and link the cases.

Probably just laziness on the part of the support representative sending you this e-mail. I think what they really want is just a photo of the infotainment system prompting to install the update. I've now sent them 4 e-mails with a date/timestamped photos (1 photo of the prompt to install, and another of the 'successfully install' message) over the past 4 days like they've asked, and not had a single response from them. Also from the wording it looks like they're taking all of these reports as separate things, rather than joining the dots and realising that all of a sudden they're getting a few complaints relating to the same update being pushed.

Skoda promote their service plans quite heavily in order to bring the overall price down. I recently had similar quotes from Skoda and a local independent garage. However, with the service plan If you take the basic plan which covers 2 services at £22.50/month over 24 months interest free, then the cost of each service comes down to £270. Worth looking at what each service plan includes if you need things like spark plugs, etc. In the next 2 years I don't, so the basic plan worked out best for me.
