1.8 TSI noise?
As I was trying to make a better video of the sound, I discovered it actually comes from the driver's side of the engine, you can hear that I'm surprised in the recording lol. I was standing over the timing chain thinking for the worst case scenario. So like I've said, cold start, as the revs go down to normal idle, you can hear this ticking noise which gets quieter and quieter until it eventually dissapears. As far as I know, the high pressure fuel pump is in that area and I've even heard it has a tappet that can be changed(?).

1.8 TSI noise?
Thanks for the input. I'm now constantly researching with a friend that has more experience with VAG cars than me (I come with a Bavarian background lol) and he sent me this video. I highly encourage everybody to watch it and also read the comments(!) as it turns out it starts to become an issue on gen3 2.0 and especially 1.8 engines. As I was watching the video I was realising this is the closest with what I'm experimenting right now with my car and it would totally make sense as the first owner (in Germany) changed the oil every 30.000km!! The second owner, which I bought the car from, changed it every 10.000km but I guess the long service intervals in Germany caused some harm. The odd part is that I don't get any fault codes. 0. Even checked if the chain is stretched with VCDS but it showed 0.0 degrees which doesn't look right to me. Planning to take the car in to a Skoda dealer and have it checked with Elsa.

1.8 TSI noise?
Here's another video. Please excuse the wind noise. I think this noise is somehow related with the first videos. This was the first noise I've heard. It was cold, I was outside just started the car. You know how it sits around 1000rpm when it's cold and then slowly backs down to the regular idling rpm. That's when it makes this rattle and then it's gone. Oh well, you can hear how it sounds in the first videos I've posted. Been at two mechanics and they scratched their heads. I want to check if the timing chain is stretched asap but even if it's not the chain (and I really think it's not) I'm afraid nobody will be able to fix it or even tell what's causing the noise. Most VAG cars here are diesels and petrols are so rare therefore nobody with knowledge. Fun fact, this was the only 1.8 TSI superb for sale in the last 6 months in the country.

1.8 TSI noise?
Sounds to me like it comes from the passenger side. Somewhere in front of the engine. I really don’t think it’s the timing chain because it would make noise on any rpm. To me it sounds like it’s from the alternator, ac compressor, pulley and what not. I can schedule the car at the dealer only in January.

1.8 TSI noise?
Hello, 2017 Superb III 1.8 TSI, 98.000 miles I noticed there's a sound coming from the engine after I rev it up and the RPMs are going down. It only makes it when it hits 1000rpm as it descends. No mater how much i rev it, that particular sound is there only when it hits 1000rpm and goes away once it reaches the idling RPMs. I just got the car, I have no clue if this is normal and I don't know anybody with the same engine to try and compare. Any thoughts? I don't think it's the timing chain otherwise the sound would be present more, and to be honest I've never heard or find anything online of anybody having problems with the timing chains on the 3rd gen of these engines. In the video the engine was at running temperature

Dcc shock and replacement
Cool! Researched a bit and I can get the front ones for 150 Euros. That's more than decent. The car has 155.000km and they are pretty damp because of the leaking. ...150e per piece*

So those are replacements, right? Curious who's making the OE shocks, could it still be Monroe?

Timing chain noise? Superb mk3 1.8TSI
Hello, I'm about to purchase a 2017 Superb mk3, 1.8 TSI DSG7. The car has 155.000km (96.000 miles) and I'm a total noob when it comes to petrol VAG engines. Owned only Diesel BMW's so far. This is a cold start on the car this morning, I can't really tell if there's anything concerning about that noise or not. I'm not really familiar with timing chain faliures, noises, rattles etc. How does this sound to you? Is that really short rattle normal 'till the engine builds up oil pressure? Thanks in advance!
