Dcc shock and replacement

Featured Replies

Afternoon. All, seeking some knowledge please!

My cars' offside front dcc shock has decided it doesn't want to be a part of the car anymore and soiled itself over the droplinks, caliper etc, anything it could basically! 🤣🤣

So, I need to find a replacement, I havnt a part number to go against, the oil has eradicated the sticker

Any recommendations for either an OE or other that's dcc compatible, running eibach Pro lowering springs all round at present.

THANKS!!

Bilstein B4 damptronic all round. Will be more for labour but possibly worth it given one shock has given up. Can you honestly say the others are ok?

Per chance you know the ones you looked at?

Good read and very in depth, am I right in saying its just the b6 fronts you have at the moment with standard shocks on rear with Eibach pro kit springs all over?

Perfect, im as near as damn the same set up as you as I have the rear audi tt top pads too....

B6 seems to be the best way as they are meant to be used with lowering springs,

Like you I have the pro kit too... So results should be similar!

i had a mission avoid lowering, chose Eibach Pro too, but from weightier cars -

what gave stiffness without lowering

Not necessarily. B6 are standard height that can handle a mild drop (just as standard shocks can). B8 is the one recommended for lowering but not sure they do damptronic variant for cars like ours.

They don't do them in the damptronic unfortunately so B6 seems like the next best

Has anyone done a direct comparison between B4 damptronic, B6 damptronic, stock DCC and non-damptronic B6?

Specifically anything DCC compared to passive B6. Is it worth keeping the complexity of DCC? Passive B6 are the gold standard IMO for fit and forget daily drivers. If DCC is truly a step up then I think I'll be hunting for it on my next car.

Unfortunately looking at a 6 week wait for bilstein b6s so have put on backorder...

I know I could drive the car if I absolutely have to... But I think for the next six weeks I'm saving fuel... Lol

Perhaps this’ll help.

Just FYI. OEM Monroe and Bilstein have a 12 month warranty (at least here in Aus). Borsehung are slightly cheaper and come with a 4 year warranty.

I was tempted by the Bilstein B6 but found that a rear sway bar was all I needed.

So those are replacements, right?

Curious who's making the OE shocks, could it still be Monroe?

Nope, the original OE units. Took that pic in June 22.

Monroe is OE and you can buy spare ones.
I have replaced mine and it is better than it was used to be, but old ones had 170.000km, so it is expected.
For less than half a price of B4 or B6 dcc they are worth if yours are are already worn out.

Cool! Researched a bit and I can get the front ones for 150 Euros. That's more than decent. The car has 155.000km and they are pretty damp because of the leaking.

...150e per piece*
