It takes practice. I overtook some muppet in a F!£$ta doing 38* in a 50 (scared of the dark driver) and got blinded by a mirror-full of mainbeams and full-on horn action when I pull back into lane. The bloke coming the other way was still easily 45m away by the time I pulled back in decided he liked the look of this and gave me some mainbeam and horn action as he drove past. *I was stuck behind him for so long I decided to reset the trip computer to carry out my own speed check

Honestly, keep them on if you like them. Your car so do what you think looks good cos you're the one driving it not everyone else.
