  1. Free Food! It's worth paying the money just for that
  2. I drive roughly 900 miles / month (~11k/yr) yet on fuel and tax I calculate I save over £300 a year running a second-hand diesel. I really can't understand that people seem to think it's cheaper to run petrol cars or you have to do high mileage to see the benefits of running a diesel car. Matt
  3. Well, I went along to Silverstone yesterday, and I have to say it was the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at any motorsport event! Walking along the back of the pits at 8:30 in the morning we bumped into Tom Onslow-Cole off to get his breakfast who kindly agreed to have a quick word and his photo taken with Mrs mattandy (who'd reverted to a dribbling schoolgirl on sight ). Also saw Colin Turkington, having his morning coffee in the Team RAC hospitality area and signing autographs for us early risers, and Chilton, who dropped far in my estimation, for his attitude to a friendly nod of the head :( Giovanardi almost walked into me (and said a quick 'escusi') as he came out of one of the VXR trailers as we were walking past just before the pitlane walkabout. (my God he's short!) At the pitlane walkabout mrs mattandy went off to stalk T.O-C again (he actually remembered her from the morning so guess what the topic of conversation was for the next 9 hours ) Also got Giovanardi's, Neal's, Turkington's, Jelley's and Hughes' autographs. The queue for Plato and Turner was too long and I didn't manage to get John George's autograph as the pitlane session ended - Team JAG are my local team to me being based in Watford. The atmosphere in Luffield was amazing, everytime someone spun or got side-on in front of us the whole stand erupted into applause and cheering. When Jackson got spun out an Race 2 and then managed to get going again I thought I was going to go deaf! The highlight for me though was after Jackson overtook Plato in Race 3. As he came through Luffield the entire group of SEAT Sport fans near us stood and applauded him. If there was any doubt about him being the people's hero it doesn't exist anymore (even the Porsche Carrera GT Cup-of-Warm-Cocoa managed to keep me interested. For a bit ) Roll on Brands Hatch!
  4. Yep, good to meet everyone I reckon I know two others that'd be up for a regular meet. At least that way I wouldn't be the token Furby driver
  5. What part of the Big Red Arrow? It is quite big, we could end up all over the carpark
  6. You could buy these as well, 5 for £2, well worth it
  7. :iagree:You'd be surprised about the insurance, when I swapped my '96, 1.4 gutless Astra for the newer, faster, higher spec, higher insurance group '04 vRS my insurance decreased by just over £100!
  8. I'm not brave but I'm stupid. Where do I sign?
  9. As you look down the filler neck there's a small lever on the righthand side, when the pump clicks off, push this lever down/away from you (continue holding it down / away) with the nozzle and continue filling for another 10* litres. *I say about 10ltrs as I've never checked. I reckon I fill the car up when there's about 2ltrs left in the tank, the tank is ~45ltrs and I can squeeze about 52ltrs in.
  10. The computer on mine doesn't seem too bad compared to what I've heard about other peoples', it usually reads 47-48mpg when I actually do 45-46mpg. This tank is the first V-Power I've used and so far the economy seems to be up along with smoothness, quietness, possibly a bit more grunt and a lot less crap out the back. Might actually be worth the 6p / ltr difference in future Good going!
  11. Liberal use of the right pedal to overtake "40mph-everywherers" and short journeys mostly on A/B roads probably account for my range with expansion tank

Shifty (but not that Shifty) - provisional I think we need at least 15 car for this to be worth doing???? Attending but not running: 1. Lummox 2. Chrisw_vrs 3. cowper301 4. sms + sinister (maybe/TBC) 5. Beretta
  13. Those three races at Rockingham were amazing, no wonder you got back into it You're right about the upcoming drivers, my money's on Seat bringing in a third car (a la Vauxhall) and poaching Adam Jones to drive it.
  14. A mate at work said he might be up for it, I'll ask him tomorrow.
  15. 700! You're joking surely? 520 is about the average for a tank and that's with the expansion tank! (~52ltrs)
  16. Good luck then dude You can't beat watching it live. I've even got my fiancee into it by taking her along to the Brands Hatch final last year, got her hooked after the first lap
  17. OK, maybe it wasn't complete Seat dominance But after their run of bad luck at the moment, to win all three races must have been seen as a Godsend. There's still tickets going for Silverstone Cap'n if you can make it.
  18. Race 3 was the race of the day, Andy Jordan got his second podium and Darren Turner not only managed to finish a race but won it () Complete Seat domination of the weekend, just a shame it's almost too late in the season :( On a happier note my Silverstone tickets came through :woot: less than two weeks to go!
  19. Ahh! I didn't catch the cause for the flying Ibiza. I was surprised about the length of their bans, was expecting the usual 6mths-1year but 3-4 years is well deserved.
