  1. Yep that's correct. I went through the same exercise 4yrs back and measured the bar and both standard bush revisions.
  2. As said get some that are for the car. Tein are excellent as far as I'm aware. My mate has them on his Evo VI, with electronically adjustable damping from inside the car. Pretty awesome set-up.
  3. You need to remove the glovebox first and cunningly route all the wires to get it to fit perfectly. It will fit if you tuck the wires away neatly. I had the same problem when I changed mine years ago. Did you switch the perm and switched live wires over when fitting? Because this is another thing you have to do when mating VAG wiring to aftermarket HU's. You'll also need to wire in an aerial booster wire, if you want the same level of radio reception as the standard unit. I don't listen to the radio so never needed to.
  4. Nothing wrong with the standard set-up. You need excellent filtration to give the turbo a chance of surviving, so bear that in mind. The 1.8T TT Quattro Sport (240bhp) and 3.2 VR6 TT (250bhp) use the exact same standard MANN filter. I'd save the money for a good quality remap personally.
  5. The front LCA is deliberately designed to deform before anything else in exactly this situation (kerb strike). Unless it's something obvious, I'd go straight in for a FLCA change. It's an easy job and genuine arms (ZF Lemforder) are available from GSF for £40-50.
  6. I want one of those 240PS Quattro Sports! Friend at work had one and loved it. The wheel in the Quattro Sport looks like an RS wheel, just covered in alcantara instead. I've always thought about getting my wheel re-trimmed in black alcantara..... would be yummy.
  7. Yeah you can get it mapped out without having to touch any hardware. It'll just switch it all off with no ill effects. In theory you never have to remove it all, it just gives you loads more room in the engine bay once you have.
  8. You'll be OK with the standard DV. Especially if you've recently replaced it with a new OE unit. Mine runs 19psi fine. Plus the heavily tuned BAM engined demo Mk1 that Shark have has a standard DV fitted......
  9. In that case still go ahead with the flywheel, flywheel bolts and coverplate bolts. But instead of a standard VR6 clutch kit, get an uprated VR6 kit. Loads of options about.
  10. Here you are: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/150787-clutchflywheel-review/page__hl__%20flywheel%20%20g60 Full new genuine set-up cost me £178 3 years ago. Done over 32k miles on it with zero issues. Running 204hp and 354Nm before the new exhaust. Apparently the set-up is good for up to 250hp and 400Nm.
  11. Thanks for confirming buddy. I'm guessing the Bosch boxed ones come direct from assembly in mainland Europe, so they're assembled for LHD cars. Must say these wipers are great. Arms sit nice and close to the screen (much lower than the retro fit blades). Very sleek. Also wipe really nicely and silently. Not tested them at motorway speed yet. The Valeo ones I've always had had a tendency to not wipe the screen directly in front of the driver over 50mph. Which was irritating.
  12. Just bought some Bosch Super Plus wipers for the car. Model SP21/19AS. So spoiler on drivers wiper and the passengers wiper is curved. Never used curved blades before. I've always used the Valeo retrofit blades, but I can't get the good ones any more so I thought I'd give these a try. Now out of the box they fit with the spoiler on the top side of the blade and the curved blade makes a sad face. But on the bottom of the box there's a tiny little picture showing them both the opposite way up (spoiler on lower side and smiley face with the curved passenger one). To me the box is correct and they've not been assembled correctly for the UK market. Thankfully you can force off the clips and reverse them. Am I right?! If I am right then I'd image 90% of people fitting them will have them the wrong way up. Sorry for the randomness, having a weird Tuesday......
  13. Running OE spec Brembo HC discs and Pagid pads from GSF on mine. Been on there for 4 years now and they've been spot on. I'll be replacing it all again this year though. Going with the same discs as they're great. Thought about the DS's but can't justify the money. I'll just go for OE pads again I think.
  14. I got a genuine touch up kit from my local Skoda dealer. Comes with the paint, lacquer, bristle thing for removing rust and brush. Sorted out a big stone chip on my bonnet. I think it was quite cheap...
  15. Mine also gets a car-boner when hot! Grows by like 10-15mm by the look of it. Stainless steel is easily aroused! http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/4249/imag0719b.jpg Twin 3" slash cut pipes fit the standard cut out like a glove. You could just get a new tailpipe made if you don't like yours.
  16. Crack out the tape measure and see. Amazing what you can fit in the back of a Mk1 Hatch! I've done 6 house moves with mine and it's been great. I've squeezed a fridge/freezer in it before and a double futon frame.
  17. I rented a Rug Doctor a few months back from Homebase to do some carpets. Did the stairs with the hand attachment and after that decided not to touch the car with it. Thought it was a bit cack. Then again I think the machine they gave me had seen better days. Tempted to buy myself a small carpet cleaner at some point...
  18. Slightly better angle: Sound clip attached. Not sure if you can play it! Works on an Android phone. You'll probably need headphones or decent speakers to hear it properly (my phone speaker won't produce the low frequencies so it sounds weird!) Scrap that.... it won't let me!
  19. You're correct Billy, turbocharged petrol engines generally run far hotter exhaust temperatures than diesels.
  20. Yeah it's a different set-up on the MkI RS AUQ engine. Only the vacuum reservoir sits above the cam cover on our engine.
  21. Both wrong! The N249 sits on the underside of the Pierburg vacuum plate at the front of the inlet manifold, along with the N112. Try fitting a new standard DV instead of the Forge + yellow combo.
  22. Sweet! Cheers Clive. I was worried that the turbo support bracket would be too stiff if I didn't release it first, but sounds like there's enough flex there. Should be relatively straight forward then, as long as I don't drop bits of broken gasket into the turbine housing!
  23. Okay so it sounds like I need to pull my finger out and get a decent sound recording and photo of this bad boy! I'm driving up to Warwick on Friday so I'll try to do it then. Clive, don't suppose you've had a look at my thread about turbo to manifold gasket change? http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/259417-manifold-to-turbo-gasket-replacement-help/ You must have done of few of those by now!
