New brochure/pricelist eff 3.1.25
Spooky, my mother is also 95 and is thinking of moving from her flat, where she looks after herself, to a home of some sort where she does not have to cook. So the furniture isn't moving, just her other positions. She also has a GSOH. They tend to at that age. I think I got the best Karoq for me. Didn't want the ACC or road sigh recognition etc Might have liked the "Å koda" front door lights and red lights, but I can retro fit them. Likewise, the 2nd rear fog light. (there are threads on here for those things) I looked at front LED fog lights, but it isn't worth the hassle. Those are minor points and all fixable if I can be bothered. I have noted that cars improve until their last version when they throw everything at them and over do it. I believe the 2025 version of the Karoq will probably be the last one, as a 10-year life span for a modern car is about right, They tend to design new cars in 5-year cycles and the Electric and Hydrogen stuff has rather increased the change rate. Though the Karoq might go from petrol to hydrogen, skipping electric. Unless they bring out a new model completely.

I expect that is the case for most of us, or we would have bought an estate car or a van. However, like insurance, it is there when you need it. In my case I didn't have to pay extra for them and I will have times when they will be very useful. Helping children (and my mother) move. Also, we do video work and sometimes, but not often, need to put in multiple cameras and lights. The stands are 2 metres You only need to remove one or more of the seats half a dozen times for them to pay for themselves in cost and certainly in convenience. It is a pain going to hire a van.

OK... mine is a late 2023mfr. (Registered on a 24 plate) So I don't have the auto speed recognition. Fortunately. Looks like I got what I wanted with nothing I didn't want. 🙂

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2025
Agreed, the limiting factor may be VAG rather than the G4 network. The outlook for G4 being 25 years, rather than the minimum of 10, is because so many things like cars, and other equipment that has a long working life, have G4 systems in them that are not easy to replace. There is a lot more on the mobile network than consumer mobile phones. Also the number of cars with G3 is not large compared to the number that will have G4 in them. The chatter in tech circles is that things like cars don't need G5 bandwidth. Hence, keeping both going. So you may have MB4, 5 etc but it will be over G4

wheel bolts - good as original Skoda?
Thanks. Now I understand. So it is not that obvious. They pointed out the security driver and said, "Don't lose this" thus, I assume it does have security bolts. Not had to look yet. My point being that if the OP has nut covers, no one is going to know he doesn't have a locking nut. Which means there will be easier targets than his car. Unless they came prepared with a set of security nut drivers.

The varioflex seats were in it. Also mud flaps, 233GW dash cam hard-wired in and for some reason the table holders on the back of the front seats and 4, not 2, boot hooks. What speed monitoring?

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2025
Having and a look round, the G4 EOL is anything from 10 to 25 years in the UK. Most are saying the 10 years is VERY pessimistic. The G3 has to shut down to make way for G5 however G4 can co-exist with G5. and because so many things, like cars and many other embedded systems, have G4 it looks like it will be closer to 25 years. For me, 15 years will be fine.

Yes, the Canton sound system is excessive for me. Never mind the Jag set up!!! I am happy with the Amundsen set up in my 2023mfr Karoq SE L. as I don't often have music on in the car anyway. Re 2025 spec I don't want ACC, electric boot might have been nice if a freebie, but otherwise not. I bought an ex main dealer Demo 2024 reg SE L in November with 3K5 on the clock with various free bits they left in. Still very happy with it.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2025
Thanks for that It has confirmed 2 things 1 That it is MIB3. It doesn't seem to say anywhere. Updating maps is pure guesswork, as the instructions I found were on about an SD card slot I don't have! I eventually found MIB3 instructions 2 that it is 4G When I renewed my Å koda App/connect subscription when I got the car It went on about G3 stopping and over the air not being available from mid 25 which annoyed me. However, as the phasing out of G3 has been known about for many years I assumed (silly of me I know) that on a 2023mfr car Å koda would have had a G4 unit in it. Which it does appear to have.

I am happy with Amunson for screen size. It also has some gesture control that can be a pain. When I remember, I am going to turn it off. . It has two physical buttons, the rest are the touch type. I thought the Columbus system had more speakers. In the back? Though, as 90% of the time it is just two of us I think they would be superfluous.

I get in to trouble with the wife when I do that.....

ACC I don't want. Electric boot not fussed (wouldn't have said no but wouldn't have paid for one). What is the difference between the Amunson and Columbus other than scree size?

I hadn't noticed. Now I will have to go out and look 🙂

wheel bolts - good as original Skoda?
my 2 cents... the bolts are a critical safety feature. No point in buying cheap ones your life depends on them. I wouldn't be buying anything like that off Amazon. Only from a known reputable source. So go and get 4 standard Skoda wheel bolts. I am sure a main dealer will be able to help, that or a breakers yard. Besides, with nut covers no one is going to know if you do or don't have locking bolts. They will assume you do.

My NC500
Long ago when I was last up north of Perth. Last couple of years Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee for work. You mean it is all motor homes? They are only marginally better than caravans, but they all tend to be large white blobs. However, does this mean there is less pressure on B&B's?

My NC500
I suppose the problem is anything west of the great divide gets rammed as soon as the weather is reasonable. I do have to visit friends near Wick but an excursion from the NE250 up the east side for a day or two would make sense. After all the wife is looking for nice senary and my mountaineering days are over. I am not doing what a mate of mine did: climbing in Lewis and Skye during February so he didn't have to deal with lots of tourists!!

My NC500
A good idea, https://www.northeast250.com/ but that is the lowlands and I have been all over that before, and much of it with a girlfriend who did not become my wife.... Wife would like to see highlands and not somewhere I have been with a past girlfriend.

My NC500
Looking at doing (some of) the NC500 this year after the summer rush. Any advice or 2025 sit reps? Wife wants to see Scotland, well the highlands and not necessarily "do the NC500" as a route as it seems to be filled with tourists. We can be flexible. Any suggestions.
