Four years and four months on - a progress report of sorts
I do. Here you go. (https://www.protectionfilms24.com/article/2x-brotect-matte-screen-protectorskoda-karoq-amunds-sportline-2021-infotainment-system-1941804.html ) I got one and very please with it. It does have a semi matte finish but doesn't show fingerprints. I find the screen is easier to read under all light conditions (so far) and is still OK with fingers touching "buttons" Recommended. BTW, you get two screen protectors in a pack.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2025
A VERY silly thought when through my mind.... It would be fantastic if someone did a mod so that when the navigation system started, the default screen was a star map from Star Wars/Trek, Elite etc. I am sure some suitable audio could be added.

Change from 19 inch to 17 alloys
Fair point, but if the car is in reasonable condition the wheels should be too. You can make a judgment call. However, if it is reclaimed/reconditioned wheels, you have zero idea about the car, or cars, they came off

Auxilary Heaters
It is an additional hearing system that does not need the engine running. These are often used to remotely pre-heat a car before you get in and turn on the engine. The logic being that it is illegal to start the engine of an ICE car you are not in. Especially if it is in an enclosed space. The car could be in gear and/or you could put exhaust fumes into a confined space with other people in it. Of course, modern cars have additional safety features to stop you starting the car in gear, assuming they work, but you are not in the car and would not know. The other example is you are parked somewhere in the car and need heat, but it is an enclosed space, garage, tunnel etc The Auxiliary Heater will stop you gassing yourself. This sort of auxiliary heater has been fitted to many types of vehicles for decades. Electric vehicles (and Hybrids) are a different kettle of fish.

Change from 19 inch to 17 alloys
I was in Jaguar R&D at the time Ford owned them, looking at their commuter simulation system. They showed what the computer did if you added a crease or bulge to the bonnet. The computer did the lot... wind/drag analysis. Both externally and internally to the engine bay. All the finite stress analysis on the "new" bonnet, how that played into the crumple zone. This was apart from the weight change and weight distribution and how it affected the hinges. They do the same sort of thing on their wheels. Full stress analysis, they know all the weights of wheels, tyres, and the cars, speed, handling, loadings, tyre combinations etc even for Škoda aerodynamics and wind resistance (they all do that). How many third party wheel makers do this for their wheels? They do for F1 and some other classifications where there is money involved. I have seen people design wheels "artistically" and I am sure the software does have checks and rules so it should flag problems. That is, assuming you have told it precisely the parameters the wheel needs to meet. Do those doing refurbishment of wheels do a full analysis of them? Have they been over stressed at any point? Are there any fractures, visible or not? I forget what it is called but you can do a form of x-ray probing on them to look through the metal to look for problems, many of which will not be visible to the naked eye. Given, it is the wheels and tyres that keep you safe, it might be foolish to use refurbished/reclaimed wheels of un known or untested provenance.

Not surprised.

for wheels? It depends how much you value your life and that of the people in the car with you.

Auxilary Heaters
It is a Skoda GB web site so you would assume it is aimed at people in the UK who have Auxiliary heaters. Also my English/UK owners handbook (SE L 2024) mentions the Auxiliary Heaters (if fitted). Other vehicles do have Auxiliary heaters and the UK was part of the EU up until 2020. AFAIK automotive regs have not diverged since. These things run on 5+ years schedules. So any reason not to have auxiliary heaters in the UK would be a Skoda decision not down to government regulations.

Valet pro "black to the future"
You mentioned using it on engine bay plastics, have you tried the external trim and tyres?

Valet pro "black to the future"
How do you rate it a couple of months on? I have a ceramic coated velvet red Karoq that looks good (well paint and wheels) but I could do with something for the lower door trim and wheel arch trim. It seems to go a dull black.

2025 Karoq reviewed
The review is: Basically it works. On all the reviews I saw for the Karoq were that it came consistently came 2nd across all the tests, but nothing else beat it more than once. The thing is, all the others that beat it in one thing were a long way back on other things. So whilst not exciting if you want a practical SUV, it does what you want but does not lack or fail markedly on anything. .

Darker privacy glass?
So you can have a 65% tint on rear-side? Only 30% tint on front windows and 25% tint on windscreen. I am not trying to look like a drug dealer or pimp, so only interested in the rear ones. :-) The problem now is to find a decent place that does it.

Window Cleaning.
Vertically or horizontally? serious window washers need to know.....

Darker privacy glass?
I have Karoq SE L with the tinted glass in the back. However, compared to my Nissan's the tint is not very dark. I noticed this when comparing to a friends Qashqai yesterday. It is easy to see inside the Karoq compared to the Qashqai. On my Nissan's with the back seats folded and gear in there all I had to do was put a black boot liner over the gear, and it was virtually invisible. Not so with the Karoq. Does anyone have any suggestions for darkening the glass on the rear windows (doors, quater-lights and back window)

Touch to open Karoq isn’t working
I have a feeling you can set it somewhere in the infotainment system but I can't remember where. I will see if I can find it tomorrow.

Putting the Key Fob 'to sleep'
Yes. Lock car with key-fob and within 2 seconds touch sensor on outside of door handle. This turns off Kessy (keyless entry) and you need to press the button on the key-fob to open door. Mine is set to only open drivers door unless two presses. However this does not save you from car-jackers with an a booster aerial so after locking car always put key-fob in an RFID pouch. Mine key-fob lives in one except when I am driving.

Curious Alert
I looked at the google map link you attached. Could it be the large "Old Rufford Rd" signs in each carriageway? I'll get me coat.... :-)

Karoq replacement key options?
As soon as you can (i.e. within the hour after getting the new key) delete all the users and primary user and create a new Primary, registering the two keys. Also get the My Škoda app and connect that to the car with a new password. This should ensure no one else can track the car.

Karoq replacement key options?
An UPDATE Seehttps://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/531031-opinion-on-potential-karoq-purchase-autotrader-link-contained/#findComment-5929708 Where it appears to be part of the insurance that if the car is stolen you have to produce BOTH keys. Unless the house was broken into to get the keys, or I assume you were mugged for the keys.

Opinion on potential Karoq purchase (AutoTrader Link contained)
Ouch! Though, that serves as a warning to us all. Both my keys (and a spare on for PN18 USJ :-) ) are kept in an RFID pouch all the time, except when driving. Once you get into the habit, it becomes second nature. Out of car, press lock, pres handle within 2s to turn off Kessy and keys in pouch in pocket. The Wife has the other key in an RFID pouch in her purse.

Sportline Edition
So it looks like it is ACC or nothing. A pity.
-
Sportline Edition
So if you deactivate the ACC on the driver assist section on the main central infotainment screen, you don't get a choice of Cruise Control or Speed Limiter on the drivers' selection from the spedo display with the steering wheel buttons? I would have expected you to still have that choice for Cruise control, just that the Adaptive part would have been disabled. That is the logic I would have expected.
-
Sportline Edition
I meant it would be very easy for the SW developers to set it up to be optional. There is a screen for selecting driver aids that would be the obvious place to have the option of selecting ACC or not. If it is available for the driver to select, if it isn't then it is a shame.
-
Sportline Edition
I don't see why you can't revert to normal CC. The software would just ignore the adaptive bits.

Opinion on potential Karoq purchase (AutoTrader Link contained)
The problem with the missing key, other than the expense getting a new one is security. If the previous owner (or some one connected) still has the key then they can open the car and drive it. Obviously, The other problem is the Users can use the Skoda app and track the car. If your car gets stolen will the insurance pay out if the thief could track, open and start the car with the app and key? I have no idea on this but it is worth checking. At the very least you will need to erase all users and start by re-registering the keys and and Primary User (deleting all others)
