  1. according to this thread the parts are: Nut covers: 000071215P UZ7 (Glossy grey) Centre caps: 5E0601151 FOD mine were supplied by the dealer on delivery as I asked for the covers to be removed.
  2. I assume this applies only to facelifted Mark 4.5 cars. Certain VAG models with the EA888 evo4 have what is described as the “emotive” start up procedure as an option. I know it applies to 8.5 Golf GTI & R and also the Cupra Formentor with the 333PS engine. I hadn’t heard anything about it and Skoda so gave it a try and hey presto it works! For the normal start as you know, you depress the brake pedal and push the start button. For emotive start you do the opposite. You press and hold the start button for a second or so then put your foot on the brake pedal. Emotive start will occur with revs flaring to 2,500rpm and a few exhaust pops and burbles as it settles down to idle. Ita a bit silly but fun to try now and again.
  3. You should keep it. It would be needed if you needed new keys I’d expect.
  4. My NZ car also has the light. I learnt that spec can be very different for each market. For example I have KESSY on all 4 doors but have read complaints from some they only have it on the front.
  5. Just received my new facelifted RS here in New Zealand and learnt that we don’t have any of these features. No app or profiles available. I had been hoping to use them so my wife and I could more easily drive the car. Still luckily at least we can set the seats and mirrors to the memory settings on the seats. Amazing that you can’t even code the keys to these. My 2012 Subaru had that feature!
  6. Picked up my first ever Skoda yesterday and promptly took it for a drive where I normally ride my motorcycles. Very impressed so far but obviously early days. Only negative is the widely reported excess road noise on some roads. I even tried the emotive start up procedure figuring it wouldn't work because I hadn't heard of it on a Skoda but even that works too. DCC is great for bumpy roads letting you tune in to the road conditions where sport mode would be too firm. The engine sound and character is pretty good considering the EA888 isn't the most sonorous power plant but ditching the sound actuator for an actual sports exhaust was a good move. Compared to the Mark 4 RS I drove the car feels much snappier probably more due to the DSG re-turning in this face lift. The revised, larger screen and software is snappy and responsive and you can configure it quite well with the shortcuts etc.. that you need to have. The Suede / leather electric seats with the thigh support look fantastic (very Audi-esque) and are very comfy. So far the Canton system is good rather than great to my ear (not as good as the Harmon Kardon systems I've had in BMWs before) but I haven't had much time to fiddle with the settings yet. My wife and I were considering many more expensive vehicles in our search, ironically all VAQ from an RSQ3 Sportback to RS3 / S3. Didn't really gel with the Golf R so gave that a miss but were very keen on a facelifted Formentor VZ but something about the Skoda even though far less impressive on paper just felt right. It was a car I wanted to just drive. It reminds be very much of my old Audi A4 Turbo Quattro Avant from back in the day albeit more powerful, front wheel drive only and DSG instead of manual. It is also available in colours rather than the different shades of depressed that so many modern cars come in.
  7. Can’t you just hit the fresh air button? if you have a temp selected higher than the ambient temperature then that it is always going to result in warm air coming in auto or not. Compressor on or not. The fresh air is just that, bring in outside air unaltered in temp
  8. Haven’t driven a car with a dial like that for 30 years. Climate control in a car is a long solved issue.
  9. I admit to not knowing that much about the mark 3 but these days I’d tend to go for the 4 it is so much more modern. EA888 engines don’t go forever without work (plastic water pumps etc..) so lower mileage is a factor too. From watching YouTube videos it does appear that the software problems were finally fixed sometime during the model cycle so assuming everything is up to date that shouldn’t be the issue it once was? in case you haven’t seen it this guy provides a very dry but interesting comparison between a 3 and a 4 https://youtu.be/LlOtYATihe8?si=RUDqpU32YbwwQjHM
  10. I thought the OP was surprised that the car blew warm air when he set it to 17°C but it was 5°C outside. Myself and others pointed out the challenges with that approach.
  11. I just set my climates control to 22ºC all year round pretty much. You could try Turing the air con off and just have the fan on low and blowing in some cool air from the outside - go all old school?
  12. Certainly looking like NZ Mark4 models at least the earlier ones were evo3 judging by the engine shots in YouTube videos. The facelift seems to be evo4. So Garrett turbo instead of IHI, higher fuel pressure, variable valve lift on the exhaust side and steel instead of plastic oil pan. There may be more changes.
  13. I don’t know but I’d like to find out. As as I can tell the evo3 stopped being used around 2020 or so. From memory the gen 4 motor switch from IHI turbos to Garrett for the GTI engines or Continental for the higher outpost engines. It also gain variable valve lift on the exhaust cam to go along with the variable intake and exhaust cam timing. as I said I would have thought the mark 4 onwards would be evo4 and certainly your 4.5. I’ll take a look at my 4.5 when I pick it up.
  14. So according to the other poster that means evo3
  15. All good buddy. It does seem like a rabbit warren these EA888 specs. Now I’m trying to understand what the difference is between the DNPA and DLBA models is!
  16. Which is why I said golf GTI mk8 which is the 245PS engine same as the mark 4 Skoda
  17. I’d always assumed they were evo4 like the golf gti mk8. The mk8.5 GTI is also evo4 with the same 195kW (265PS) as the mark 4.5 Octavia RS. https://media.vw.com/en-us/releases/1615 https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/2020-volkswagen-audi-skoda-cupra-seat-2-0l-ea888-engine/
  18. Don’t think so but you can get directions from Apple Maps to display the left hand part of the virtual cockpit (google maps for android auto
  19. If you have navigation then no. I think all vRS have it. One cool feature that isn’t on many cars is that Apple Maps for Apple CarPlay or Google maps for Android auto will display on the left hand side of the virtual cockpit. On most VAG vehicles the virtual cockpit only displays the cars own built in navigation
  20. I think what is happening is that the facelifted cars are different with the new software the controls for this are in the main 13” screen. I’ll check to be sure once I pick my new car up.
  21. Not sure about the breather mod from memory but definitely got the oil spray jet update. I just have a monthly reminder to check the oil and top it up these days. It’s a fun little engine but to give you a context I bought the Polo and my Subaru Legacy GT Premium wagon (Liberty in Oz) a month or so apart in 2012. The Subaru has done 135,000km and the Polo about 75k. The turbo Subaru doesn’t use a drop of oil and the only issues it has ever had were the sat nav system needing resetting when it was a few weeks old and a gearbox sensor failing at about 100,000km that was a few hundred dollars to get sorted. The polo was in and out of vw for oil consumption and just from memory has had a water pump failure and a cracked PCV pipe and a few other things I can’t recall just now. still we are keeping the Polo as it’s a fun city car and the kids drive it too. I’m getting a new face lifted Octavia vRS to replace the Subaru hence being new here in this forum.
  22. My wife has a 2012 VW Polo GTI. She loves it despite it not being the most reliable of vehicles and the engine liking a drink of oil.
  23. One of the issues is vehicle size. My wife wanted a smaller car (our other car is a Polo GTI) so the Octavia was as big as wanted to go anyway.
  24. Made the deal today, get the car in around a week. Race Blue with the suede / leather seats and Canton system. Will post my review once I get it.
  25. New member here. Considering a face lifted combi. Can confirm the facelifted vehicle sounds significantly better than the old one and the sound actuator is gone. I wondered whether the pops in sport mode on the overrun might have been synthetic because I thought you couldn’t get stock cars anymore with that because of particulate filters etc.. turns out you can. I know the EA888 is seen as a good engine but not a very sonorous one but I have test driven a bunch of them in different vehicles and the new Škoda sounds by far the best to me ears.
