  1. ^^^ The UK / Westminster Government, Announcement relevant to England.
  2. @Graham Butcher Read it as you like. Make up your own story about Zero sympathy. I just said, that is how things are EV or ICE vehicle. My sympathy helps nobody, but when i can help someone here getting screwed over i do try to. Really what does it matter about EV,s and not yet where they need ro be technology wise to you? clearly are not getting one.
  3. @Graham Butcher I am a driver of EV,s just as i am a driver of ICE vehicles and was a driver of Offroaders and Modified cars. A Fan boy maybe. The Insurers were taking the P!th. Absolutely, and the vlogger was stuffed. As happens here. As i posted first after you posted the video, no revelations or anything different from as things happen very very often. Independent Engineers Reports can help, but if Main Dealer Technician is not supporting you or a Importer you can be stuffed. PS If the Dude could buy the Pickup up as part of the settlement then on the word of "his mechanic" then that would be a No Brainer to do. No Battery Pack damage. Someone might be getting a bargain...
  4. Maybe the Pickup in Canada will be repaired and not broken for parts, including the Battery Pack. Maybe the owner could buy it, or some buddy in the Motor Trade and do the cosmetic repairs. Maybe the Insurers will be OK insuring it. Like UK insurers are, not bothering about a Proper Electrical Check, replacement Seat Belts or Airbags being fitted, just put through a MOT or sometimes not even that. Leased / Rented BEV,s are going to be a different from ones people might own and that they can have repairs done on in any way that suits them.
  5. Are the CrossClimate 3 not available yet in the size required? There are Video Reviews posted in this section in the long running threads. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/520748-which-all-season-tyre/page/2 There are CrossClimate. CrossClimate + ,CrossClimate 2 CrossClimate 3, CrossClimate 3 Sport & CrossClimate SUV,s.
  6. ^^^ I understand fully. Mr Displeased of Chelmsford. Write to the Telegraph. An attitude like you have that got you no place. Still having to buy Insurance to be road legal and going on about injustice. Not prepared to go protest outside the Mother of all Parliaments. Have you even gone to see your MP about Car Insurance in the UK?
  7. I am not a Lloyds Name or a Hedge Fund Manager or an Insurance Broker, any more than you are. I bought and repaired damaged cars and worked in the trade. It is dafties that mump and moan yet buy the insurance, pay the tax, get ripped off ande can do nothing that is the problem. Buy your accident damaged cars back and repair them or have someone not charging vat and paying taxes and doing it on a nod and a wink do it. But they are busy doing it for themselves.
  8. @Graham Butcher I was a car sprayer and refinisher and did warranty assessments and repairs. My Journeyman became an Insurance Assessor back in the 1980,s. The trade moved on. its 45 years back and more when we went from cellulose paint. So what is going to come of all the mumping and grumping, you are decades late.
  9. Who is going to stop it then? The Finance Establishments / Insurers, Motor Trade / Repairers, Salvage industry> Maybe the UK Government or Agency that is going to look at EU Type Approved cars headlights as they are on UK roads. Just go back to the days pre AI. have it all done by a guy / gal who trained as a motor engineer / panel beater - painter.
  10. @ctoul Are you brimming the tank, or even 'Venting it'. Or do you stop filling after a couple of cut outs of the petrol pump? Venting a Fabia Mk2 vRS which had a 'Vent' Slide could get an extra 7 litres in to the tank. Handy for Oop North when wanting in as much Super Unleaded as i could, and not intending parking up before maybe 50 miles covered.
  11. Assessing, costing can be done & is very much these days done with the use of On-line Platforms. By 'Certified Professionals'. Makes for some crazy costs of repairs / estimates.
  12. There is that right enough. So best the OP does the running low when not in the far flung regions of the UK and gets that Fuel can and funnel and fills it up.
  13. If driving and actually getting 60 mpg (4.546 litres) and the reserve message came on showing 60 miles you might well get 70 miles even 80, or if your driving style changes or you then need to climb lots before the filling station maybe only 50 miles. No need to run out of fuel in the UK is there unless north of Inverness during the festive season.
  14. There are those that use more electric or fuel to negotiate up hills and get efficiency back with regening down hills. There are those that want AC in certain summer conditions, and winter temps can very much be about location location location. Getting the engine fired up and the engine / oil to efficient temps are just 'simply clever'.
  15. Very true @Graham Butcher you never ever pick up on every word in others posts and debate them endlessly even typos. Well not often, not yesterday. As to forced soon to have a new EV if you want a new car, we will see, there will be a General Election and it can be all change. Not that it should bother those that buy used cars normally. Advances in BEV,s over the past 5 years are really pretty good and that might well be even more so in the next 5. PS I have not a Downer on Vloggers / Youtubers, but since they are on a little earner it does help boost their income when there is a 'Crisis' or an 'Issue' to get out a vid about when everything else is just So so. Following their experiences of getting on just fine and getting cheap motoring does not get so many clicks maybe. Then there are those that just tell a story from the Media or someone else's experience.
  16. @Graham Butcher Why do you not get it? They will have been ICE owners and might still be. What they might find irksome is guff from those getting 2nd and 3rd info, and often just Anti-stuff. Are there many Canadian members on here? Plenty UK members who were not born yesterday. 'Poor Canadian owner'. Is that 'Unfortunate' Owner in Canada, or Financially POOR.? A Vlogger, another money maker Youtube poster. What a sad sad tale he tells about his Canadian Insurer, and the Postal Service. @Graham Butcher Are you an EV owner / user or did you mean to post you are not a EV owner / user ?
  17. A Manager, Service Person or a Technician can say anything. They are not the Warranty Provider. But if they are not going to report Software or Hardware not Factory Standard or Approved if there are Warranty Claims then that is good. Not likely they will put that in writing and with their name and job title next to it though.
  18. ? Is it a car built during the Covid years? So common that there are things that you might expect to be standard missing. (Not fitted) PS. What would Skoda Customer Services know about cars.?? They are Call Centre Workers. Obviously a glove compartment light could be fitted, it just needs a little bit of common sense. & Wires, switch, bulb, holder, fuse.
  19. Nothing new then. No revelations. Just the same old same old. & those that have issues with BEV,s like Just Get a Tesla or The MacMaster and the Guitar man will likely keep on getting EV,s. So the Truth of Ev,s is if you do not have one then that is a choice and if you do have one you might get more in the future.
  20. @Graham Butcher Actually i could only scan through the dudes vid as his greeting face ands voice did my head in like the Ausi / Brit does. Moaning like that got him no place and his video tells nothing not already known and that i expect he knew before getting a BEV. My point, are they not paying out on a car they are writing off because they say an Uneconomic Repair? Be it a BEV or an ICE that is maybe how they roll. Poor Estimating, assessing, loss adjusting. Yes they are paying out. Postal Strike has him including in his rant... The Sum of the parts of vehicles are far greater in cost than buying a complete car. As scrap that Pick Up will have a value Broken for parts including a totally usable battery pack for re-sale. Supposedly $60,000 Canadian or so if purchased New from Ford. INSURANCE COMPANIES. Europe / North America. Easy come easy go how they operate. Compulsory Insurance.
  21. @Graham Butcher Re the Ford BEV Pickup in Canada. Was the truck not fully insured including off road or off main highway use? Is he not getting a new truck out of it? How much are the trucks anyway new, for the sake of easily written off. It is like the Dudes in Edinburgh that had a Tesla in wet roads that needed a new battery supposedly, or the famous Fish & Chip eater that kept on about the price of new EV batteries even though one was not needed. Were they not insured properly for a BEV being written off due to weather / road conditions and new batteries required?
  22. Hardly a recent discovery or revelation. Well not in this section of Briskoda or on Social media. In the UK you often get those that are unhappy with insurers what ever the vehicle. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/512702-insurance-is-it-legal-robbery
  23. @skomaz Tongue in cheek or tongue out they are very easy to drive, but like some other cars with ICE,s the IT / Software can be total crap. Top candidates are from the VW Group / Brands.
  24. The DQ200 DSG is not actually 'Sealed for life', both oils can be changed, but there is no Service Regime, guidelines, advice or schedule from VW / Skoda. The Air filter should not be left till 6 years / 60,000 miles as per the Skoda / VW schedule. Checked at every service and replaced as required is 'Simple Clever'. No fuel filter schedule.
