  1. Plenty big disused stone quarries around the UK, some that just need water pumped out of then lined.
  2. @mellis90 It is 2 years since @Skezza signed in to the forum.
  3. Does it not matter how big a battery a vehicles comes with people or some people will want to 'risk it for a biscuit' to save money, or spend more money to be sure they have additional possibilities to not just get to a charger?
  4. ^^^ Worth mentioning it is a 2.0 TDI so people need not look at your profile. Sounds very much like a regen. Better fans on than requiring to call 999.
  5. Nothing wrong with 0 % / Zero miles range meaning 0% left and Zero miles possible IMO. Actually 'Simply Clever' to save people from acting stupidly and pushing on regardless because they read or watched somebody telling them how far you can go beyond. #'One step beyond' Madness.
  6. Sensible. But sadly Spamming. EDIT. Post be new member has been removed by a Mod.
  7. Not mandatory in the UK to have DRL,s fitted as standard at the factory with Mk2 Fabia, or even Mk3 because there was no New Type Approval from the Regulation coming in February 2011. They do not need to be on with the ignition. PS, handy if posts / questions on the vehicles say which country they are in. Even just so that members might know if left or right hand drive.
  8. They have no idea if you live by the sea, up a mountain where there is snow each winter, if you cross fords or go through flood waters, and anything about how the vehicle is used. Testing for H2o in the Brake Fluid is just Simply Clever, and some do it, but testing at the Brake Fluid reservoir is not really that reliable.
  9. Today again there is talk of concerns over Energy Security and attacks on infrastructure in the UK by terrorists or enemies of the state. What seems to be an issue is Battery Storage and how easily that can be attacked physically or by Internet. Just like the Pipelines then for Oil / Gas / LNG / Aero fuel, marine fuel & road fuels and depots for these. But then it has always been so. Substations vulnerable also. But what very quickly would bring the UK or just London to it's knees would be attacks on drinking water and sewage infrastructure. All so much sh!te to deal with. Such a lot of the 4 countries infrastructure owned by other than the UK, and money out and not enough back in. On the horizon is El Nino. Brace yourself.
  10. Brake fluid used to be first @ 2 years then each 2. About 2010 changed to first @ 3 years then each 2. Since the VW Emissions Scandal things changed to First @ 2 years then every 2 years. Customers are the Goose that keep laying Golden Eggs.
  11. ^^^^ That is the guesstimate for the ambient temp and your recent efficiency. Can you go 174 miles of further. or using 50% of the battery 137 miles and showing 137 miles range?
  12. So i did 120 miles for £3. Then i put in £7 charging. Then another £19 and have done 170 miles. Now at 98%. Showing 175 mile range but in my 160 miles to get home i will put in a £5 charge on the way. So £34 for 330 miles and there will be maybe 30 miles range once home. No charging issues with last 2 chsrges @ 65 pence and 55 pence a kWh. Real life EV travel like this maybe half the time, or more when using familiar charging places. When it is crap experiences is often when in a hurry ,or during bad weather and when i lesst want the hsssle. A 300 mile plus range and home charging is obviously more sensible than a low range BEV. EDIT. Stopped for dogs to stretch legs, plugged in for 5 minutes and put in 4 kWh. £2.69. Got home with 30 miles range. (Average speed including stop 50 mph. Half was Motorway.)
  13. Peoples domastic gas usage has dropped through a warm for many May. So any increase in May, June or July on something not used is Zero increase. Food is still bought, fuel is still bought. Industrial gas and electric users mean cost of so much rising.
  14. Inflation was 2.8% in April. This is May which there is not an inflation figure for yet. But coming soon.
  15. An engine running ticking over and stopped is not normal operating temp. Likely not indicating 50*oC. But likely fine. But still check when up to 90*oC and stopped on the flat that not overfilled. PS, The worst Overfilled & also underfilled posts are there in the Fabia Mk2 section regarding vRS 1.4 TSI Twinchargers where the official oil quantity is 3.6 liter and 3.9 liter is actually required. Then Mk2 Fabia 1.2 TSI,s when the changes in 2011/12 had the quantity change from 3.6 litre to 3.9. Different filters as well. Dealerships fitted the wrong filters and under filled oil for a long time, and some still do. EDIT. For mk2 Fabia vRS oil checks there is the Zoomba check. Cold engine. Dip it. Then Start engine. A few seconds. Stop it. Dip it. If it is the Silver OEM fiter there is 0.5 litre oil in it. After a drive if you check you have the same dip stick level as from the engind start and oil circulating.
  16. And then not checked as the owners manuals show or tell owners too. Because they add a measured amount of oil. The journeyman never does. Road tests are not done then the oil checked again. But when i served my time my bossss were strict even though it was simpler days and engines and checked cold.
  17. You would think it is Rocket Science not Basic Car Maintenance or just vehicle checks.
  18. Nonesense. When cold it can be with oil filters on top of engines and the correct quantity of oil. Just go check. Too many cars leave oil services with low oil. PS. Go check Area A, dip stick. Owners manual. Cross hatch area and how to check oil and at normal opating temp VW engines.
  19. The issue is if on Flexible / variable servicing and Oil Service is at 24 months / 18,000 -20,000 miles and Inspection service has not been set to match. First at the PDI. Or since.
  20. Yes. Now before starting the engine the check cold means enough oil. As long as the at oporating temp is not above area A on the dip stick.
  21. And Skoda,s obviously
  22. As for steam cleaning engine bays. That can end up with horrible alloy, and rusty steel. Always recoat / grease or oil or use rust inhibitor after a steam clean. IMO.
  23. KIA / Hyundia are manufacturing perfect vehicles for all kinds of Police and Emergency vehicles Interceptor / pursuit vehicles. AWD included. As are BMW. This is why forces have these brends of BEV,s.
  24. Opening the bonnet can cancel the warning for 62 miles / 100 km.
  25. Where is the oil level when the engine is at normal operating temp and stopped a few minutes , 4 or 5. Compared to when all in the sump and cold. The owners manual way is a hot check for every engine but 1. The 1.2 44k engine with 2.8 litre capacity.
