  1. In my area the DVLA are around lots clamping cars. In the past the DVLA used to notify the Local Police Station of Untaxed vehicles and when the patrols were out at night they used to check for vehicles. The DVLA are sometimes not interested in vehicles with no VED in some regions and dead hot on them in others.. Fixed penalties are sent to Registered Keepers. That is a joke. As is the £1,000 penaltie they can threat even when you no longer are a Registered Keeper and they know you are not.
  2. I used my local Council website to report an abandoned van. Rather than just a call to the general council number as no idea which department has the van. It has VED & Insurance, through Council Group Insurance, because it is one of their vans that the employee leaves for days or weeks plugged into a Public Charger the Council provides. The lead locked in and the charging is completed & the general public are deprived of using the charger. At another charger during Covid it was left for 10 weeks plugged in and when reported to the council nothing was done. When there was a Royal Visit coming from Edward & Sophie it was reported as a suspicious vehicle and got moved.
  3. If parked on roads just check VED status & MOT on the DVLA web page.
  4. The dreadful Capri EV is lovely to drive, IMO and the last of the ICE were built nearly 40 years ago so many EV drivers were not even born then. I tried a dreadful MG4 XPower a few days ago. Like sh!t off shovel and all-wheel drive but really needs better tyres fitted. Both available at getting on for 'Much cheapness' used and will be getting cheaper by each month and quarter as plenty about for sale.
  5. The post is not about Trade Plates which allow the use of vehicles without any VED but not for private use. It is about legitimate Traders Insurance. Vehicles and business usage in the Motor Trade, the companies or customers.
  6. The actual 0-62 time is sometimes not accurate and they are faster than advertised / published, then the is the 'Lack of traction' Lack of acceleration!. Potential max Power / Torque and the acceleration speed of Stellantis or others EV,s, Family cars, Taxis, Vans etc really does not matter on real roads in towns / cities as there can be wet / slick roads and the ECO Bias tyres that are fitted. Ones to give max range. Also SPORTY ones on Sporty Models that might have Limited Slip Diffs as the Hot Hatch ones are now available with. Same with Hybrids or just ICE vehicles.
  7. Bargain running the prestige company car. All i can see on this here video is what it might of cost a private individual Leasing a car for their own use, and not tax breaks from HMRC / the general public.
  8. Now at 9 years old and how ever many miles it is best to have it checked underneath. Was nothing mentioned when it was serviced last?

  10. Many will have in classics. I did in V8,s. But a Euro 6 emissions TDI is hardly that & it has been 5w 30 FS III for 'Long time mister!'. .
  11. @this next service are the Spark Plugs going to be replaced & did the All In Plan get the Brake Fluid changed and the Pollen Filter? Has the Air Filter even been looked at?
  12. Maybe some help in previous threads on interior lights.. ? What headlight type has your Fabia?
  13. In 2016 the VW / Skoda recommended oil was still 5w 30 FS III VW504 00 / 507 00 & not yet 0w 30 FS III VW504 00 / 507 00.
  14. Not relevant with vehicles without e-brakes and Autohold, but there are drivers with these that have no idea if they might have one that has the Brake Lights on with 'Autohold' holding the car. There were older VW Group vehicles that did not all have the brake lights on with autohold working.
  15. @lol-lol £1 million is peanuts. But they have just advertised for Contractors and that is not including asbestos removal which could take years. Then you need local contractors because if you bring them from the South there is accommodation needed which in the Inverness / Highland region is in short supply. There are major construction projects worth £billions under way and with planning approval. Rig decommissioning, turbine fabricating, Green Free Port / Hydrogen, Dry Docks etc etc. Global Companies have big investments going into Nigg & Ardersier & elsewhere. There is a couple of major local based companies which can actually deal with the construction needs and employees. Some Civil Servants have as usual c-cked up big style. They should have looked at how long the Inverness Castle development project has taken.
  16. @lol-lol Re the Barracks in Inverness. Turns out needs £1 million spent, but asbestos needs removing, and boilers and much else. No planning applications made. Inverness Council or Scottish Government not part of discussions. There are asylum seekers already in hotels. The Council had workers remove flags put up near the barracks. There are Military Families live near the barracks that have voiced concerns about when the member of the armed forces is away on tour. Using Fort George would likely cause as much controversy.
  17. @lol-lol The nearest the NC500 is from this location in Aberdeen is over 100 miles by road. Handy for the North East 250. PS Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire Council Public EV chargers now about the most expensive Council Chargers in Scotland and still pathetic for provision and maintenance. At least there is TESLA Supercharging in Aberdeen. (Also Perth, Dundee, Inverness, & Aviemore.)
  18. @lol-lol The Grampian House Warehouse location is perfect for nipping off for a Thai Oil Massage.
  19. Maybe they are like the wealthy 'Retired' Fishermen in the North East of Scotland who like to keep their Tesla etc out of sight in the garage. No need to flash you have cash to the tax man.
  20. Many more EV,s towing in Scotland this past Summer. Caravans and Electric Vans or Pickups towing trailers.
  21. It will take me 2 nights to charge back up if i am using the 3 pin lead and getting 7 hours offpeak. I will charge some at the Standard tariff unless i am going far and i will stick it on the Instavolt during the cheap rate time. I was getting 3.3 - 3.7 miles a kWh on the 60 mph roads going then about 15 miles of motorway roadworks & crawling traffic then headed back the last 30 miles ASAP. Tried a GridServe charger @ Kinross Services, no App just a credit card, (3 card) in the p!thing rain and got no charging. Thankfully as it was 85 pence a kWh and by the time i had messed about for 5 minutes the person i was meeting arrived and i was off again.
  22. @Graham Butcher What is the well documented problems that EV,s pose? Documented by whom and where, and for which world regions or countries. I know of some infrastructure issues for charging and cost, but what other problems rather than those that some talk of that have never had experience of EV,s. Transportation & the risk of fire seems not to have reduced the number being shipped around the world.
  23. It is well reported that the take up of EV,s in Greece is not great for various reasons. Economics being the main thing. But really the relevance to the UK is lost as no longer in the EU. Different strokes for different folks.
  24. ? What are you taking apart, maybe other than taking the wheels off. Look at the wire / connection. Who fitted the discs & pads? At a Inspection Service the Main Dealers Technician can have the receptionist tell you your brakes are 80% worn and never have had the wheels off.
  25. Osprey Discount charging, Plunge pricing is quite something. Down to 72 pence if using the App. Full price. Even more of a p!th take.
