  1. First time having to call Skoda Assist for my 58 VRS CR TDi Went to fill up the car and got about 1/2 mile down the road and the glow plug light started flashing. I thought I had noticed the car's idle was a bit off and it tended to overrun a touch when you turned off the engine or it would turn off with a bit of a chug. Filled up and it cleared the fault which came back on after 1/2 mile again and I got back the yard at work. I phone Warrington Skoda who advised me not to drive it and to ring assist. A VW Assist van turned up after about 30mins and he took off the inlet manifold. He said the cogs can wear inside the gubbins that open and close the throttle. When he took it to bits the cogs had shattered so he couldn't fix it there and then. He ordered the parts and came back to fix it today took him about 20mins and its back to its best. Very impressed great quick service. Better than when my mate's 58 Insignia spunked its gearbox and he had no recovery at all. I didn't take them up on the courtesey car while it was just for a day although I did have to endure a 160k Mondeo Anyone else had this problem?
  2. Every now and again on SWMBO's Mk 1 RS when setting the alarm the passenger indicator will get stuck on it you unlock and lock it usually goes away. Is it trying to tell me something is wrong with the alarm? SWMBO ended up with a flat battery the other day at work because of it. Thanks, Ste
  3. They spread grit?? Not round here they don't Five have gone past our house and there isn't any grit outside and its an ambulance route
  4. Had 4 Subaru 17" 215/45/17 stood upright not sure if I took the shelf out or not though Bags of room you could live in there!
  5. Small family car???? Obviously they never went in the boot then They should at least let skoda have the same engines as Seat for the VRS though instead of playing second fiddle Although with the build quality would that overshadow VW
  6. I have the Skoda bluetooth module Rev. D (I think) connected up to my RNS510. One of the lads at work wants the BT kit for his Toureg but has an Iphone 3GS We tried it in mine and it work fine all phone book etc.
  7. 29 when I got my CR earlier this year 30 now. The boss took a bit of convincing to buy it (company car) He was bothered about the depreciation, which is better than most I would rather sell on a vrs than a mondeo or insignia. (Why do Vauxhall make everything out of that funny rubbery plastic!) A guy at work got a 130bhp SRi Nav Insignia and it is ok if you had a Vectra Fiesta Diesel Pugeot 205 Citroen AX Citroen Saxo VTR Citroen Saxo VTS Pug 306GTI (Mrs first car) Lexus IS200 (Built well but rubbish) Subaru Legacy B4 (Still Own > 5 years) Subaru Legacy B4 (Mrs 2nd Car) (Still Own > 3 years) Skoda VRS CR TDI I really do like the Legacy's but the VRS is so easy to enjoy as well and is much more ££££ friendly
  8. May be a stupid question but are the doors the same for the hatch and estate on an Octy Thanks Ste
  9. Do you mean +1 to the file name? I tried it leaving the filename th same but it said it was already updated
  10. I updated and lost the function of the stalk. What do I need to change on the image other than the table files then it will allow me to update again. Do I just need to +1 to the end of the image file name for it to recognise it as an update like on maps? Thanks Ste
  11. I ordered one from the dealer in Bolton it was buttons probably about £4 not worth shipping it
  12. Glad your enjoying it! Great colour when it is clean, same as mine I spent ages trying to find the one I wanted and luckily a dealer came up trumps for me. Was going to opt for the petrol but am loving the oil burner You were lucky to find a CR there were none when I was looking Admittedly I had a blast in one of the Legacy's and I still loved that but hey we all have to grow up!
  13. Here is the response from www.skodateile.cz (not the supplier) The 1Z0 035 729D works only with BAP enabled Maxidot displays in the facelift models Mohammed has stated that his car is a facelift version though? I assume that if you have the new BAP enabled Maxidot you should be able to get Phone in the Menu with a 729D. You can select BAP in VAG COM but on mine with the older Maxidot it turns off my RNS 510 functions. My 729 D bluetooth kit required no coding and worked with the RNS 510 straight away. Do you have a CD Changer if so did you take the blue connector out of the original loom and plug it into the new one otherwise it will not work.
  14. I have been trying to do the same with Mike's help There is a lot of conflicting and confuddling info on the subject muddled by Volkswagen Red and White display as well as Skoda displays Maxidot and some of the kits being sent out as plug and play and when you are using the RNS 510 the info on Stu's how to needs amending slightly. I have worked out that the 729D should work without any coding if you have the RNS 510 However I believe that there are new Maxidot displays used in the new facelift models that have something to do with BAP protocol. If you turn it on you loose the RNS510 in the Maxidot. My Nokia E51 downloads the phonebook fine I would imagine it is an incompatibility with the phone some Nokias had a problem a while back with accessing the phonebook.
  15. That will be it then! 1Z0 035 729 D is the part code Strange that newer version have less capability though  Seller said that version D did not work on Red Display not White Thanks for your help!!
  16. Me and Mike from Preston who was providing the VAGCOM have spent a while this afternoon trying various combinations of coding to no avail. Amendments to the Guide Telephone - Controller 77 The controller soft coding should be set to 0010422 if you have the RNS 510 or your phone button only mutes the radio. From the offset when the kit was installed I could access it through the RNS 510 so telephone was enabled as per the coding instructions and everything except maxidot is great. Does it have anything to do with BAP??? Thanks
  17. I have the RNS 510, Maxidot and the Premium Bluetooth in an 58 Octavia VRS CR The bluetooth kit is installed great and works with the RNS 510, however the Maxidot does not display the Phone option on the menu? I have looked in VAG COM but cannot find any info on it to show the phone option in Maxidot Thanks Ste
  18. I have sorted it Pushing it in and turning retracts two clips for you to then pull out, it mush have been too far in or sat funny with no trim on it and was a bit stiff. THanks
  19. I have taken it our a few times as shown on the site but now I really want it out it seems to be stuck
  20. I was fitting the bits of trim following the bt install. I had put my headlight switch in to use the car until I finished Now when I push in and turn through light assist to and side lights it gets stuck half way and wont go any more I need it out to get the trim back on I can see soem plastic tabs down the side of the switch as the trim is off but not sure what to do
  21. I have managed to get it in by fluke I think in the space on the right had side of the radio. It works great with the RNS 510 great straightaway but it needs coding for the MFD I think Can anyone give me 5 mins of VAG COM near Wigan???? Just need to refit the lower dash section and its finished, The loom you get is pre wired and plug and play only downside is they are a bit bulky but then they have to accommodate the oem one so not much they can do
  22. Are there issues with the plug and play looms? They are similar to the looms you get with the Video in motion kits I would imagine they are taking the three wires from the head unit and sending then to the BT and then the audio wires come back on the green plug and into the RNS 510 Shame I started it at the wrong end or I would have been fine hopefully
  23. I bought a Plug and Play Bluetooth kit from Ebay Rather than following the wiring details on octavia-vrs.com you get a connector that plugs into the existing loom then a new connector that plugs into the RNS 510 A word of warning i started at the Bluetooth box end and get to the radio and the holes are not big enough for one of the connectors to pass through :( My own stupid fault!!! I thin kthe options are 1.) Take out 3 or 4 pins from one of the connectors put behind the dash and reconnect (dont like taking stuff out of connector blocks though in case they break) 2.)Take out everything I have done (My fingers are red raw from threading cabling and looms) :( 3.) Make th hole at the back of the dash a bit bigger with a blade of some sort (Hmm maybe not)
  24. I have looked at Stu's site but the installation is not for a RNS 510 The guy is offering the kit plug and play no wire cutting here I assume the RNS 510 must have provision to install bluetooth without cutting into the loom Thanks
  25. Looking at getting the bluetooth kit for my RNS 510 On ebay the guy says it is plug and play so I assume there is no wire cutting like in Stu's how to, will it require Vag Com coding or work straight out of the box. I tried asking the guy but his English wasn't the best
