  1. As above, I'd rather pop to B&Q and buy a dedicated sander, keep the DA for the car. cheers Chris
  2. I've always bought from http://www.bootsliners.co.uk/ cheers Chris
  3. Looks clean, time well spent  A couple of questions, did you rinse the snowfoam off before the actual wash stage? Any reason for hose rinsing not pressure rinsing after wash stage? Could save some time by skipping the Extra Gloss step - SRP + FK is a great combo when no machine polishing is involved. cheers Chris
  4. Ok, and are the lines visible when the panel is clean and dry?, difficult to say without seeing it in person but looks/sounds like quite severe clay marring - something an abrasive polish should rectify by hand - Meguiars Ultimate Compound in Halfords should do the trick. Please don't use T-cut - this is one of the most abrasive polishes available to joe public on the high street - you'll end up with dull cloudy patches where you've used it. I'd be happy to take a look if you fancied a run out to Somerset. cheers Chris
  5. Are these defects just on one panel or over the whole car? Do they correspond with the direction/action of your claying stage? When the panel is dry can you feel any difference when you run a finger across the line? cheers Chris
  6. Apologies, been away on hols... I've used them a couple of times now including a side2side test with the previous grit guard...in summary I think it does keep the 'sediment' below the guard better than the original version given the noticeable tide mark on the side of the bucket where the guard sat once I'd removed it. A couple of points - one being that you are relying on the sediment to be small enough to go through the cone filters and two it's not very good if you use it in the shampoo bucket as I did with the previous guard so now I use the new one in the rinse bucket, old one in the shampoo bucket as I did previously.....safety first! :nerd: Chris
  7. That's because they don't :peek: ...people expect way too much from snowfoam, a pre spray and rinse down before washing is far more effective...just doesn't look as good if the neighbours are watching you. cheers Chris
  8. I've not tried the Powermaxed products but use Autosmart Hazsafe which does the job for me....originally intended for use in the American sun on Harley Davidson's and their chrome. Pretty much all TFR's will degrade any wax you have on the car to varying degrees, not an issue if you have a coating applied. cheers Chris
  9. A Chip-ex kit should sort those out no problem. Unfortunately stone chips are just part of car ownership, too late to have PPF applied as you've already got some chips, and I've never seen a decent 'smart' repair so personally wouldn't recommend this option either. cheers Chris
  10. As above, a normal wash program at 40 or 50 degrees, whatever washing liquid you normally use but don't put conditioner in the drawer as this sticks the fibres in the cloth together making them effectively useless. Happy washing. Cheers Chris
  11. Some good comments above, I'd add the following products on the basis of their ease of use and durability - Gyeon CanCoat and Gyeon Wetcoat - good product usage/descriptions can be found on the Polished Bliss website. cheers Chris
  12. No worries. Yes they need to be re coated with a durable coating....Gtechniq, Gyeon etc cheers Chris
  13. If you are looking for a kit the Autoglym one is very good...also available from Halfords for added convenience. cheers Chris
  14. Took delivery of a couple yesterday, will be using them for the first time next week, the idea behind it makes sense when compared to the normal paddle style guards which we've all been using for years. On a side note if you haven't used Slim's before they come highly recommended - one of only 3 traders that I use - Slims, Polished Bliss and Dooka. cheers Chris
  15. Did you panel wipe before using either product? I've not used the Sonax products but from experience of some other brands of spray sealant they contain solvents/carriers/evaporators which in effect act as a gentle panel wipe as the product disappears so do any polishing oils which were left on the surface. Many waxes have a small masking effect so this may have temporarily hidden the true finish. 95% of the finish is in the prep :nerd: Cheers Chris
  16. Autosmart Hazsafe in a pump sprayer is also very good as a pre soak, very affordable in application too. cheers Chris
  17. Normal pads/polishes will make no visible difference...how much is windscreen excess nowadays £50/£75....crack on, in more ways than one. cheers Chris
  18. Cerium Oxide and ralon pads are what you require - messy and time consuming job. Pretty straight forward to use on a run of the mill car with a flat 'screen, can change the optical clarity of a curved 'screen - odd result and one that is hard to describe without seeing it in person - "yes sir, I've removed the wiper scratches from your 250swb but now you have a fuzzy windscreen" cheers Chris
  19. Aha ok, personally I'd use one or the other, the finish won't benefit from having hydro max under 5050 - they are probably about as durable as each other so toss a coin to decide...or if you are stuck for time hydro max as it should take less than 5mins to whizz round a car. cheers Chris
  20. You'll be fine OP, it's a decent enough filler heavy glaze which flies under the radar nowadays. It's a filler heavy glaze so won't be any use on deeper scratches and you'll remove any of the carrier (colour) when you buff the residue. cheers Chris
  21. I'd go with this kit over the ones you've posted on the basis of the polishes being far superior. All the 'entry level' machines are much of a muchness, especially if you've never used one before. http://www.slimsdetailing.co.uk/accessories-kits-and-tools/gifts-and-kits/slims-detailing-dual-action-das-6-machine-polisher-koch-chemie-polish-kit.html cheers Chris
  22. No worries. I use both the yellow detailer's preference from Costco (or ebay/amazon if you aren't a member) and the grey MF's from Autosmart. Brand new yellow's above get used for Gtechniq coating removal. The Polished Bliss deluxe towels are my preference for using with QD's...short pile also works fine for this too. cheers Chris
  23. The short pile MF's are preferable for wax removal regardless of brand of wax used...makes even the fussiest wax easy to remove..remember also to keep turning the MF so you are using a clean side, ideally for every panel. Deep pile MF's are only good for things like quick detailing sprays or spray sealants etc. cheers Chris
  24. Hello there! All is well thank you, you? Yes I've returned to the fold having bought an Octavia a few weeks ago after years away sampling other marques cheers Chris
