  1. Try a Bandit, very home mechanioc friendly, I do all my own servicing/repairs and no electronic gizmo's to worry about!, for your budget you should be able to get a 2000 600.
  2. Been on to Stealer, have to take car in for service indicator to be reset via VagCom, their error when resetting. As an engineer I have no problem in staying with the variable service schedule, dont forget that your gearbox oil is hardly ever changed over the life of the car and that has a hard life too!, same applies to rear axles on rear wheel drive veghicles. Dont forget that that the engine is set up for long life oil/variable servicing, car manufacturers wouldnt go down this route if there was any doubt as to its viablity, think it is one of the Cadillacs that had the engine sealed with the first oil change due at 100,000 miles:eek:
  3. Read the words again!!!, I know its nearly done 10k, but was given long life oil!!
  4. My 2004 mk1 vRS was serviced in July 06 @18491 mls, given 20k service + long life oil, service book stamped as next sevice 38k. Car has now done 27k (mainly motorway/dual carriageway driving), but service indicator is now showing as due in 1000 miles! Does this sound as though service interval has been reset (10k interval) incorrectly?, or could there be another problem? :( Car is still under warranty. Will be contacting offending dealer later today.
  5. Is the mk2 Octy vRS better than the mk1?, my car is now 2 1/2 years old so thoughts are turning to its future replacement (or not!). Does the high cost justify changing to the new model or should I just keep the mk1 and get it remapped?, the mileage is reasonably low and I do like the car:confused:
  6. Despite whats been said above, I find the Halfrauds touch up kit excellent, I also have a Skoda pen kit but the brush is far too big and the lacquer too gungy to use even when well shaken, my car is black magic.
  7. I know this has been covered previously but my searches havnt found the required threads! I have a ticking sound coming from the dashboard area on my mk 1 Octy vRS, believe that its something to do with the air-con? I t definately isnt the charcoal filter.
  8. Thanks for the info, the dirt is on the outside between the indicator lens and headlight, cant get in to clean it without removing the indicator lens, and it looks ubsightly as the dirt can be seen thro the lens.
  9. Does anybody know how to remove the front indicator lenses?, I need to clean behind the leading edges as there is a build up of dirt/algae that is visible, yet the gap is too small to get something in to clean the dirt away:rolleyes:
  10. I had this on my 54 reg, took it straight around to stealers as I thought a relay or switch had failed, turned out it WAS the bulbs that had failed almost simultaneously!!!, really strange:confused:
  11. When I went to Horners Manchester a couple of weeks ago the service reception had moved to the Mitsubishi reception across the plot, and the parts are located separately as well!
  12. Got them on my 2004 Octy vRS, no complaints about them really, and with 23k on the clock still plenty of tread left:thumbup:
  13. I found Horners (hear the groans on the background!) better than Claybank, I personally have no complaints, theres also a new dealership in Wigan, dont know the name tho.
  14. Come renewal time I tried Confused before the renewal arrived, after weeding out the high excess's etc 'More Than were about the best, however confused still quoted more than 'More Thans' renewal notice despite being given the 'new' business discount!
  15. Missed this:( what channel is it on?
  16. A friend who is a keen drag racer was telling me yesterday that if you put normal unleaded in a golf, therefore assuming Octy is same, that the ECU retards the timing to suit BUT doesnt reset when super unleaded is then used, this isnt what I thought, any comments?
  17. Had this happen twice now, first time lost the cap, hence @£7 to buy a new complete cap from stealers, second time found it hanging off so used araldite type adhesive, its still there, never thought about claiming on warranty tho and car is only just 2 years old:rolleyes:
  18. Amazingly the cheapest quote I had on my mk1 vRS was my renewal from More Than, by
  19. Try the Halfruads touch up kits, actually quite good - better than the Skoda kit
  20. Definate blue tint on my 54 plate, was very obviously tinted after my 1.6 Ambiente Octy.
  21. Tells you how in manual, however resets to fixed (10000 mile) servicing I believe, for variable you need Vagcom.
  22. Why not just fit aftermarket reversing sensors?, had mine done, looks and works well, I had the sensors located in the rubbing strip, but you could have them fitted below it as per the factory fit, cost was about £155 fitted, easy diy job for @£75.
  23. Not bad standard either, not much poorer than my
  24. Been there, done that, car was 2 weeks old!, luckily only chipped spoiler and was soon remedied with application of Halfrauds touch up kit, defy anyone to find it now!
