  1. Where do you get all the bits to add on, the chrome arches look very twee?
  2. Chasefreak; It is not just me then. Before I drove an A class with discs front/ drums rear annd it was a heavy car, but the brakes were comparable with my wifes Cooper which is discs all round. The Fabia reminds me of cars of yesteryear Viva's & Escorts with all round drums when sudden breaking was in the lap of the Gods. Do you still have the Fabia, after repair?
  3. This has been discussed at length before. I too have the 3 with this feature and the problem is that the panel is not effective. I have advised that anyone retro fitting should buy panels from a specialiet company and cut them to size. You will find the sound reduced more effectively than the existing panel.
  4. I have had mine over a year now and I agree the brakes seem weak. I have yet to use them in anger?
  5. Zebra; Not really bothered about the horn but perhaps you could post some pictures of what appear to be very attractive young ladies. PS And the new horn if you must.
  6. Mole ; Is that quote as safe as a bank quote. I fear neither is because your quote is against what they wish to sell you. It is all relative, the plus point is in the climate for the next 2-3 years new car values will remain dormant. Just listenning to the business news and all the gains of the week are almost gone.
  7. Very well done. It is good to remind the establishment of their role and demonstate as you have that you cannot get away with everything.
  8. Today, like yesterday and tomorrow is the wrong time to be selling or part exing a car. It probably is going to get a lot worse and the industry must have some real concerns.
  9. Case proved then Bassa. I do not think I120 car looks much different from the multitude of other makes around. At least the Fab looks too narrow and a bit geeky. That said the warranty does shade it. My wife also had a Getz and it was a great little car. As for retained values in the current climate you can deduct 10% from the figures quoted.
  10. I am sure you can purchase it but you may do better to buy a kit from Halfords/ Noise Killer which is far better quality. Just to add a little I have a Fab3 and the sound proofing is best decribed as minimilist. My last m/v an A160 CDI I bought a kit from Noise Killer for about £45 and cut the shapes myself. It was made from bonded type of carpet / underlay with a metalic surface that fronted the engine. It was far superior to that I have now.
  11. The appearence of this model with some additional kit on which costs nothing? Surely this is more to do with the parlous state of finance and the retail motor industry. I expect that we will see this and some more models with addons to try and shift the many new models that are taking up space. I am in the SE near LHR & Southend and it is a rare sighting a '58' plate. Showrooms around are chock full of cars that people cannot afford to buy.
  12. You can get those fancy inflaters that fill a deflated tyre in an emergency. I would not be that bothered on the spare wheel score. My wife is on her second Mini Cooper neither car has had a spare and in four years she has only had a slow puncture. Either way you have roadside cover for your first three years. I have to admit that I have not used a spare wheel on my last three cars and that covers about 10 years because I too have only experienced slow punctures twice. If what you want is a high mpg then it is the car to go for. If as I hope you have, you study the mpg thread it seems that the cars readings / claims are higher than that obtained by most of us users. PS. She only realised on the second Cooper that there was no spare wheel when she assumed that someone had knicked it.
  13. So it may well seem prudend to use the brim to brim if you want an accurate mpg figure. If not I could assume the figure might be as much as 10% out (manufacturers exageration), in other words @ 60mpg on maxidot the figure might likely be nearer 54mpg. It is dissapointing that the maxidot lacks accuracy as someone found out being short of the estimated distance to run before refuelling.
  14. Just refuelled mileage at 3700 57.8 mixed driving (1,4TDI)
  15. Thank you. That is what I call a picture, they do llok good and cover the area completely. Now get on and do the rest.
  16. Discs on the front only. I am usually wrong but the discs do seem on the small side in circumference. That said mine has 3700 miles so I doubt the brakes are going to get any better?
  17. Is there a picture of the taped on ones linda ?
  18. Then how can she be sure of which car did the deed?
  19. 1.4 TDI I am not that impressed I have to say. They are not as sharp as I am used too. That is with 3700ms so they should be run in now.
  20. The honeymoon seems to be over for some of us?
  21. I understand that there maybe a real difference of about 10-15% to the deterement of we drivers/owners. I would imagine that this is about right as on another thread someone stated that the speedo mph was also out by about 3-4 mph. Your observation reflects those figures often quoted by road test articles the cars never getting the makers claimed mpg. My 3 1.4 TDI on 3700 miles a year old seems to register 59.+ since I had the car (4 months). I must admit I have tried a number of styles / speeds / motorway @ 60mph and there has been no change. My point (at last) I too would question just how accurate the computer is?
  22. 1.4 TDI Fabia 3 . I am doing just under 60 mpg and I think that that return of 80 is really brilliant. Good luck and there is every chance that with increasing miles it may get even better. I wonder if you ever had recourse to put other types of rims / tyres what your return would be then i.e.would it be round about the 60 mark.
  23. It is a 20+ year old system and lends itself to the time caps were visible and proudly displayed as an exterior feature. I agree it is poor in this age. I cannot imagine many other makes in VAG group still use this system ?
  24. Fabia 3 1.4 TDI ; fit is a pleasing car however as you have one already it should not stop you looking at other makers cars as it is a buyers market and some other makers at this time do have better offers and cars that are equal to the Fabia and in some cases exceed it. Using this community website will tend to get you very biased advise and often far to much sentiment ?
  25. I tried to locate internet sales without success. Message to Skoda UK 'Why do you not seem to have an internet sales service for such items. I happen to be a reasonable distance from the local dealer and would be more than happy to pay for postage?' Grasmere Car spares do the Fabia mudflaps for about £19 front and £19 back including p & P Saturday 13 Sept Got the front ones and it takes about ten minutes to fit , best put stearing on full lock makes the task easier
