  1. Sounds as this could be a system found on some BMW/Range Rovers that's able to preheat the engine/car prior to driving away, common in cold countries etc. Personally my car wars up quickly anyway and with Climate/Control heated seats I wouldn't worry about a pre-heater. I think the BMW stored heat from previous days driving with a ceramic clock, similar to storage heaters.
  2. Just wondering now if I will be liable for any after reading here. I own my own property and have done for the last 3 years. 50% of my Grans property got transferred to my name last year (April/May), unfortunately she died earlier this year and the house is now up for sale and I am due to receive 50% of the sale price. Will I be liable as I already own my home and this is effectively a 2nd property. Solicitor was of the opinion that as the house hasn't gained any value in the year I owned it then there would possibly be none if little tax for Capital Gains?
  3. yes I'd forgot about that, makes sense as you 'll then have 2 x allowance, but may not save that much as if you name is added now then your half of the house will gain little or no value so not much tax to pay if any
  4. Not an expert but in a similar situation As far as I know as its not her only property (she now owns one with you) she will be liable for tax on any of the gain in value from when she moves out will date of sale. I can't say how much the value will have gained by 18% is payable and expenses I'm sure can be deducted. Something like this Value in 2006 - £150k Value now is - £190k Gain is 40k Say you selling costs come to £3k that leave you with 37k You also have a personal allowance of I think £9,800 which would bring it down to £27,200 That would have a capital gains tax of £4,896 which isn't too bad. There is some other costs involved but not sure but it involved purchase price etc as well. Someone else may be better placed but thats roughly what my lawyer told me.
  5. any reason why you never went for the 1.8 and revo'd that? that aside I'll possibly be going for the 170 DSG myself
  6. As I have found out the current 4 page Superb brochure for the UK is crap hence I found this European one, exacts specs are different to the UK (no leather on Elegance for example). Certainly gives far more details on all the different options with pictures. Superb Euro Brochure Accessories
  7. well I am also considering the superb which I can't see at my dealer till mid september so hopefully things may be clearer by then
  8. thanks take that means the brochure I got from my dealer yesterday was out of date. So will any models ordered from factory from now be the facelift model and if so will the factory options change?
  9. As 2009 MY cars are most likely now starting production I'm guessing that the Octavia facelift won't now appear until the 2010 MY starts production. Which is a pity as I was hoping Bluetooth kit would make it to factory options for the new model year esp as it's available in the new Superb.
  10. Not aware of any price rises but the current offer of free upgrade to 18" Alloys, Jumbo Box and Dual Zone Air Con will end shortly so it may be in your best interest to sign up shortly. Other than that certainly don't pay list price, try and use some broker prices to knock them down a bit, for example the 2.0 petrol VRS list is £17,915 but can be had for approx £15,500.
  11. drivers in glasgow are a Revo dealer, they of any use?
  12. Revo is a good idea and should certainly overcome the low power problem, according to Revo it gets boosted to 220BHP from 160BHP and torque goes up to 275ftlb from 184ftlb.
  13. thanks, correct me if I'm wrong but does the Audi not use the 120BHP engine rather then the 160BHP in the Superb. If I'm wrong looks like I'll have to find some other cash to fund the diesel version.
  14. For those that have driven the car, is the 1.8 TSI powerful enough for this size of car?
  15. option prices ok I guess, though metallic at £400 is quite steep. Looks like my build with extras if I decide to proceed will be costing £18,884, thats for the 1.8 Elegance. Prob not too shabby given the spec. Not convinced the 1.8T will provide enough grunt though.
  16. that reminds me must phone my dealer and get an invite as it's next wed at my local (d)stealer
  17. will have to see one and hopefully test drive one, but the 1.8TSI in Elegance trim fulfills, my gadget addiction and may turn out to be a popular engine choice, don't think the diesel or 4x4 worth the extra for me. depending on price may get the self park as a show-off additional gadget hopefully my dealers gets one soon. now to measure up to see if I can squeeze it in the garage!
  18. thanks will prob give them a try for a quote at least
  19. After a wee accident at the weekend am looking for a reasonable priced good bodyshop in Edinburgh area. piccy Thanks
