  1. Johnson v HWM Ltd 17-3-1997 Kingston County Court Allows an indefinite delivery date for a new car and also change of specification of the car in between dealer order and manufacturer delivering the car to the dealer because both are out of control of the dealer. If a contract has been entered into between dealer and customer with a substantial deposit, then that contact remains binding and, unless specified in the original contract, an indefinite delivery date or change of specification are not breaches of contract.
  2. I found this the other day, whist musing over a Scout. Select a colour, and view it 360 degrees. http://www.skoda-auto.com/moss/model/octaviascout/360/
  3. Todays Telegraph is reporting that Skoda are to extend the VAT free offer on the Fabia, Octavia and Roomster until the end of March. In addition, the 0% finance will also continue against selected models, though they don't state which ones.
  4. With the black body parts, white looks good.
  5. At 85,000 miles in 5.5 years, I'm thinking about changing my brilliant Fabia vRS. I've had a test drive in a pre-FL Scout TDi, and liked it! I think I'm waiting for the CR engine.......... Ignoring recent snow events, my test drive was several months ago and I liked the feeling of solidity which the Fabia vRS lacks, although the Fabia vRS would disappear up the road far faster than the Scout. Also, Scout tyres are VERY expensive.
  6. I'm puzzled by this response, what harm would this possibly cause? If you were spinning the wheels on the ice and then deliberately drove the vehicle onto a surface where the wheels would immediately grip, then I guess you would risk damaging the drive shafts and gearbox, but I don't think the poster actually did this, he just revved the engine.
  7. In that brochure, the 4x4 and Scout TDi's are listed as being 160bhp. What do you think, a typo, or good news? 4x4 1.8 TSI 160bhp Manual 1.9 TDI PD 105bhp Manual 2.0 TDI PD 160bhp Manual Scout 1.8 TSI 160bhp Manual 2.0 TDI PD 160bhp Manual
  8. Bought Mother a new Fabia 2 1.6 16v Tiptronic from DtD in March 2009, no problems whatsoever. Came from Marlborough, who were more than excellent in every respect. My 54 Fabia vRS is now nudging 85,000 trouble free miles, and its replacement will be sourced from DtD.
  9. With 180mm ground clearance, cats can very easily walk underneath a Scout without having to crouch down.
  10. Facelift 09+ : Skoda Tuning = superskoda.com
  11. Fuego! Nah, Renault 15/17 was the business (unless you could afford a Ford Capri (a Black 2.0S with gold pin striped panels was boss!)). Did you know the Fuego's headlamps used to pop out if you applied the brakes too sharply?
  12. Is this Aqua Blue or Satin Grey?
  13. £17,083 at DTD for a new one. £22.995 at dealer for a second-hand hybrid one. That's a £5,912 difference
  14. It just seems weird to me that Skoda would want to produce such a hybrid. Imagine the disappointment if you ordered a new one expecting a FL, and got one of these! I wonder if there are ones out there with a FL front and un-FL backend? Is it a ??-09 model or a 09-?? model? Anyway, here's one with a FL at both ends! Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI PD Scout 5-Dr Estate
  15. Just having a quick look at Octavia Scouts on the Skoda website, and I noticed this oddity. Not only is the price completely breathtaking, but if you look closely you'll see that the backend has been facelifted, but the front end has not. What is this? Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI PD Scout 5-Dr Estate Is the pic of the interior new or old model? How odd.................
  16. All Skoda's are cool , it really doesn't matter how old they are.
  17. Back in March, bought my mother a Fabia 2 1.6 16v Tiptronic through DTD. No problems whatsoever, a 1st class service provided by the non-local Skoda dealership and I'd certainly recommend DTD to anyone. I was amazed how utterly useless and thoroughly lame the local dealership was as I'd have much preferred to have purchased from them to support the local enterprise and economy during these awful times. The car was driven to the delivery address rather than being transported, in my case about 60 miles, though I don't see this as a problem. I was offered the opportunity to collect the vehicle in person. My next car will be ordered from DTD as I really can't be arsed to argue over the odd £100 with an idiotic second-hand car salesman.
  18. The airfield is at Upper Heyford in Oxfordshire, it used to be a US Air Force Base hence the rather sturdy hangars in the background. The runway is now used to store 000's of new and used ex-fleet vehicles. Google Maps). I also found a low mileage Scout on the Skoda website, the dealership had about 6 on offer, went to the dealer and all they could ask is which colour I was interested in - all the vehicles were parked miles away on the runway! I would have liked to have seen the vehicle before making any commitment however, to wait to have it delivered to the dealership, unprepared, a week later (I assume) was too much hassle (they never offered to do this). Seems odd for a dealership to offer cars which are inaccessible to the viewing public.
  19. Hi, Second question tonight . Does anyone know how often a Scout's Haldex clutch needs its oil replacing? Is this a DIY job? Is it just an oil drain and fill, or are there any filters to replace? Also, does the Scout suffer from wind up if the front/rear tyres are newer/older and of a greater/smaller diameter? Many thanks,
  20. Hi, Anyone know if the MY 2010 Scout is a PD or CR?
  21. Hi, After 5 years and 80,000 miles of trouble free motoring from my Fabia vRS I'm considering a new Octavia Scout TDi as a replacement. I need something a bit bigger which will cope with my increasing and aged frame, and which can cope with the dreadful state of the roads. My question is, apart from the visible bits and 4x4, what's the real difference between a Scout and a normal Octavia TDi? The Scout is 4-wheel drive, with a higher ground clearance - but is it really tougher than a standard Octavia? Is the suspension, drive train, trim and occupant accommodation more robust to justify the higher price? I also assume that a Scout will reliably deliver 100,000 miles. Many thanks.
  22. Due to black ice, Mother fell off the road and crunched her beloved P-reg Polo against the roadside vegetation a couple of weeks ago . Mother OK, Polo severely wounded. So, I've ordered her a Fabia II '2' 1.6 16v Tiptronic from DTD. Local dealer wanted £12,375, then £11,750, and finally £11,250 before I ordered through DTD at £10,587 . A significant saving during these hard economic times (unfortunately we don't receive huge bonuses from our bank, even though we now own a significant part of it). I'll let you know how we get on.
  23. Just had a 60,000 mile service, MOT, Brake Fluid change, new Cam belt and Water Pump, total cost was £552 (inc. £53.10 for MOT ) at the dealers. They used..... 038198119A Repair Kit, contains timing belt, relay roller & tensioner roller - £88.83 +VAT 045121011HX Water Pump - £29.61 +VAT The labour charge was £290 (4.5 hours) for everything. They charge £55 per hour, and my local independent VAG specialist charges £45 per hour, so not a lot of difference in the price.
