  1. Can this be caused by rear brakes and pads being worn on an Octy vRS mk1? I know it’s a stupid question but if not I'm a tad worried. I'm experiencing the steering wheel shaking from side to side under semi heavy to heavy braking. When I bought the car the front pads didn't look touched (there is about 150mm on them at least), the discs look good too. The rear pads are worn with about 50-60mm of material left on them, the pads look a bit rough but it still stops Looking through the service history reports etc at the last service there was a warning on it saying the rears were scorched? ....I’d like to get rid of the steering wheel shake although it’s not a massive deal and is perfectly safe it is more of an annoyance than anything else. Thing is surly can the rears be causing it?
  2. .... that has to be one of the funniest things i've ever seen but now I want one! I love the bat mobile.
  3. It is weird.... i'm wondering if it may need a cleanup after the storms the other day. Hit a massive bit of surface water which absolutely drowned the car!
  4. I have no general issue with traffic cops or the police but there is no excuse for being arrogant. I've only ever had my wrists slapped once for going down a taxi and bus lane only.... in a massive traffic jam, with a bus in front of me and god know how many other various cars around! I genuinely couldn't see the signs (because they were located in the wrong places!) but I should apparently be able to read the writing on the road... having not moved for a good 20 minutes! Fair cop I'd done wrong without realising it but as in your case the guy in question was a complete a$$. Instead of telling me what I'd done and getting me out of the jam I was asked a series of retarded questions no one could answer without sounding cocky! Good on you anyway, well done for standing your ground!
  5. I have a 55 plate vRS with about 51k on it, I haven't noticed it before until I was pulling through the drive through this morning . I had my window down and when putting it into first upon pressing the clutch down a relatively loud springy noise could be heard from under the front of the car. You can't actually hear it when you're inside the car though. I understand how a clutch works but I just wouldn't expect it to be as audible as it is! Is it a problem anyone else has had? The spring isn't on its way out is it? Mileage wise what is the life expectancy of the clutch?
  6. The only changes i had to make to my pioneer deh-p700bt was to swap the bullet connectors for the red and yellow wires. All blue wires were already disconnected. So far i haven't had any issues with windows etc. edit: i presume if i was going to have issues i would have seen some by now (a month or so after installation)
  7. .... there was me hoping to have an excuse to give it a "gentle" drive down the motorway tomorrow
  8. I'm putting my stock 55 vRS through for its first MOT tomorrow, you've put the fear of god in me now!!!
  9. Well its all in now and seems to be working perfectly although you've worried me about this blue one again! There wasn't any single blue wire coming from the loom, just a blue and white one from either end of the head unit loom. Both had bullet connectors and weren't connected.
  10. Cheers Dan The new wiring loom that has come with the HU only has the blue(white) connection to the HU end, not the car end so it should be fine... in fact its just like this one (bar the inline fuses etc) http://images.andale.com/f2/120/119/28205648/2007/2/16/PC2_69_4.jpg
  11. Hijacking the thread i know but can you get anti corrosive discs? Mine seem to rust up pretty quickly?
  12. Thanks HTH, when you say disconnect the blue wire do you mean from the new loom that comes with the new head unit or from the cars blue line feed? I'm getting the aerial adapter off Dr Zoidberg which appears to have a blue wire attached to it (presumably for the fm amp?) So to recap.... SWAP the red and yellow around on the new loom fresh from the pioneer box! Disconnect the blue cable from the loom fresh from the pioneer box! Connect the aerials blue cable to the loom fresh from the pioneer box (presumably to the connection we've disconnected in the previous step?) EDIT -----> I've bottled not getting an adapter now... better safe than sorry etc I'm seriously confused though! As I’ve already said I have an mk1 Octavia vRS which is actually on a 55 plate (I think the fact it’s an mk1 from later 2005 is causing the confusion). Am I correct in thinking this wiring loom is correct? SKODA OCTAVIA FABIA PC2-69-4 CAR RADIO WIRING LOOM on eBay, also, Terminals Cabling, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 26-Jul-08 11:12:37 BST) what has confused me even more is the fact that the seller has provided this info...? .... So according to them I need the pc2754 as seen here... SKODA OCTAVIA SUPERB PC2-75-4 CAR RADIO WIRING LOOM on eBay, also, Terminals Cabling, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Jul-08 10:18:34 BST) In the 2nd one though it doesn't look like the blue cable is disconnected, do you have to do this regardless of whether you buy an adaptor or not? To confuse matters more the PC2-69-4 was the right way to go?! I don't want to go blowing anything up :( I'm starting to think I may just fork out to get it fitted somewhere! I've already bought the unit now though !!
  13. I'd much prefer to spend a tenner to ensure i don't fry the electrics! I hadn't heard about the Arial issue though?
  14. Does that look about right? Caraudioentertainment.co.uk – Car audio and in car entertainment. - Fitting Accessories :: Skoda :: PC2-69-4

  16. Does the steering wheel shake at all? Has it been parked up for any length of time?
  17. Hmm might get him one of them now instead bit bigger and a fiver isn't too bad... presume you can pull it off the stand?
  18. Another no here i'm afraid :(
  19. Hi John Thanks for the info. I suppose its everyones call here I'm only after the one and didn't want to go wasting cash on models i didn't want / need. If there is anyway of you processing a smaller order let me know. Cheers
  20. Max i've ever had out of my mk1 so far is just under 44..... constant 40mph all the way home :( god damn traffic.
  21. Don't think so no, there are a handful of rally printed ones but they're 1:43 and £16.
