I was thinking about getting a VagCom lead as I just got a laptop, but there pricey (for the little use it would get).

I replied to your PM Bascially I had some clamps I bought in lidl, its actually these ones, Lidl Online I removed the wheel, put on the mudflap and lightly fixtured it. Then I used 4 clamps at different positions along the ridge to get the flap to sit in a tight position. Then I took the hair dryer and heated on the wheel side of the flap along the ridge and moved clamps one at a time to get it tight, I also tightened fixturing screws to find the sweet spot. Then while it was cooling down I pushed the bottom of the flap towards the back of the car to tighten the gap. Tbh I found this method better than the hot water and bucket as it cools too quick to fixture it tight.

IIRC on the left flap I actually tried to file a better groove. But on the right I mounted it, used a couple of clamps to clamp either side of where it attaches to the body along the length of the mudflap (hence why the wheel came off), then heated the inside and did a bit of moulding by hand to hold it in position while it cooled. I wouldn't go too mad with the heat or you might damage the paint on bumper.

Typical dumb a$$es in Eire, they are now bringing in all these and Privatising (just to make sure a company can shaft you even more). At a time when the UK are seeing the disadvantages and phasing out. Muppets. Although I have been told that Gatso vans will no longer be hiding behind bus shelters but easy to spot to encourage speed reductions. I'll believe it when I see it.
