  1. This may seem a dumb question but if you have a Skoda Used Approved Warranty can you take your car to any Skoda dealer to have the work done or are there specific "approved used" repairers? Dan
  2. Id love a remap at some point as I think that would make it more exciting. That and a nicer clutch and flywheel.
  3. Not seen a SMF for the TFSi apart from the upgraded Sachs one (£1000!!!!)
  4. I recently went from a remapped mk1 Octy VRS to a standard mk2 octy VRS (petrol) and IMO the MK1 was more fun. I also found it better on fuel (could have been down to the remap) I do like my mk2 though. Its a much more modern car with much better gearbox, better chassis etc but Im still trying to get used to not having that little bit of lag under 1800 rpm and then the a nice "kick" of boost that the MK1 gave me.
  5. Thank Ethel. No problem with the gear selection and no stalling. Just a slight judder and fairly loud knock. Car has about 9 or 10 months warranty left. Have dropped Meadens an email.
  6. I've noticed that when holding the car at biting point ,or when pulling away on a slight slope or a hill , the clutch is making a metallic knocking sound. Im thinking most likely this is the DMF. Do they normally make this sound on the MK2? I dont remember my MK1 doing this when it still had the DMF fitted. The car is covered by the used approved warranty. Does this mean that I have to wait for the clutch and flywheel to fail before they will do anything? Dan
  7. Yep, defo a mk1. Just had a quick look at the VRM info: SH58 EBX REG - 01/12/08 CHASSIS - TMBDS41U598840780 (1U refers to mk1, 1Z is mk2) ENGINE CODE - AXR etc.

    BLURT !

Whats that my dear, you dont remember kerbing the offside front wheel? Oh, I guess it must have been the kerbed alloy fairy again!
  9. I used to park miles away from other cars but ,as others have said, I would come back to some **** having parked inches away from my drivers door in some scabby heap. I find that People movers (particularly picasso's, scenics and galaxy's) are the worst offenders for parking dings. You just have to look at the condition of most of these to see that the owner doesnt give a dam about where or how he/she parks.

    BLURT !

Oh dear, my leg appears to have fallen off. Oh wait, it was just pins and needles. Phew!
  12. To the OP, If you look under the boot carpet there should be a tag with the engine code on it. Should be able to work out which engine from that. Or failing that if you give me your reg no. I can look it up on my works computer.
  13. Anyone else care to post some pics for a comparison?
  14. This is how the door is at the moment. Looks worse from certain angles.
  15. Yep mine is yellow so it also shows quite clearly in the sunshine. BTW, Its lovely and sunny here currently. However, I am at work and the car is not. If its nice tomorrow then I will do a before and hopefully an after comparison in pictures.
  16. Just to add, I have just read a post on a golf gti forum (Mk6) that suggests that you can move the striker inwards slightly. Might try that this weekend.
  17. Is there any way of adjusting the rear doors on a mk2? I have noticed that my o/s rear door is not 100% flush with the bodywork. (i.e it sits just slightly proud) It looks like it needs "pulling in" slightly. Is this normal? Dan
  18. I just changed mine. I kept the hoover nearby just in case. As it happened some broken bits of leaves and what looked like seeds or pods (?) fell down into the footwell.
