  1. Welcome from another GriffoVRS! Almost the same name. If your car is a Blackline it is a diesel, and it definitely sounds like your car was doing a DPF regen - clearing out the soot in the DPF. Another sign that this is happening is that the idle speed is raised (along with the fans running to keep things cool). If you switch off the car before the regen has completed, the fans will keep running for a bit.
  2. I agree the switch feels horrid. I recently had an Audi A3 hire car, and although the switch had basically the same in function, it felt sooooooo much nicer. The Audi switch is not located in the same place, otherwise I would have been tempted to change mine. I guess they have to have some differences between an Audi and a Skoda!
  3. Managed to get my fat fingers into the 'hole' and pull the switch out, which then clicked into place. I just hope that it stays there!
  4. Looks like I have knocked my electric mirror switch, and it has popped out of the housing and 'dropped' into the door trim. I can still get to the switch, but it is difficult to get much purchase on it with the size of the hole, and the size of the switch top/size of my fingers. I presume if I can get hold of it properly it will just click back into position? It doesn't look like the housing is that easy to remove as it includes the door handle. Any suggestions? Cheers.
  5. Had a Citigo when my Octavia was in for a service, and it was a great little car! Biggest disappointment to me was the two speaker radio/CD. It would have been interesting to try the full treble thing to see if it improved things.
  6. I started the Negative 'g' thread listed above a few years ago, not long after getting my CR vRS. My PD vRS never did it, and my CR vRS continues to do it on the same bit of road every time I drive it. I have also noticed the effect on a couple of other roads. The only way round it appears to be to accelerate as you go over the crest in the road, as this seems to stop it happening. This is fine on the road that I travel down most days as I know where it is going to happen, and can drive accordingly. It happens infrequently enough in normal use for it not to be a problem, and I have ended up accepting it.
  7. I wonder if they didn't reset your service indicator at the last service? I wouldn't of have expected a service so early with the driving type that you are doing. With regards to the alarm sensitivity, my car went back to the dealers about three times before they eventually sorted it. The first couple of times they adjusted the sensitivity, the third time they carried out a 'software update' (but for all I know it could have just been the sensitivity again). Anyway it is fine now. I see that you are in Lancashire - I have been taking mine to Simpsons of Preston.
  8. It used to be when adding parking sensors (rather than factory fit) meant that you got the audio, but not the display on the touchscreen. This was the same even if they were fitted by a Skoda dealer. Need to confirm this before you proceed to avoid disappointment. Car looks good though.
  9. Only a thousand miles or so to the 9999 999.9 shot!
  10. Simpsons in Preston, Lancashire have always been good for me.
  11. I have driven three XKRs including two of the latest 500+ hp ones. Awesome!
  12. If you follow the link, you can also get a list of your local participating dealers by entering your postcode.
  13. Should have said, but just go to www.michelin.co.uk ... but 999pooch has added the direct link to the form. I actually got the banner that made me aware of it when I was on Briskoda.
  14. Just put two new Michelin PS3s onto my vRS. I have put them on the back, and rotated the rear tyres to the front (also Michelin PS3s). Interestingly even though I replaced worn PS3s on the front, the turn-in is much better, the car is quieter and the ride seems improved. Michelin are doing an offer at the moment, and if you buy two 18 inch tyres (and above), send them your receipt, they will send you a fuel voucher for £50. For tyres 13" to 17" they will give you £25. The offer is valid from 1st June to 31st July. I paid £140 a tyre, so £25 a tyre off, making it £115 a tyre. Not bad at all for Michelins!
  15. Mine has done the 'hill thing' since I bought it. See: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/150025-negative-g/page__hl__negative However, it has not got any worse, or happened on the flat. Perhaps the 'sensor' or whatever it is that causes the effect is starting to fail. The problem is that no-one seems to have tracked down what causes the issue in the first place.
  16. Quite why they would link this sensor to the engine is not clear, unless it is something to do with the car 'thinking' of an impending accident and cutting the fuel. Thanks for some further info.
  17. I would be more worried if it started to do it much beyond the crest of the hill, or if it is starting to get worse as that would imply a developing problem. If I put my foot down as I go over the crest, then I can stop it happening completely.
  18. The only similar thing that I have experienced is going over a crest in the road, immediately afterward it feels like fuel starvation. It clears very soon after the crest in the road, and I have only experienced it on a couple of roads (although it is consistent every time I drive these roads). See the following link: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/150025-negative-g/page__hl__negative__fromsearch__1
  19. It is my recollection that the Dunlops are directional. I changed to asymmetric Michelin PS3s to avoid a re-occurance of the problem.
  20. 53 mpg at 90 mph seems overally optimistic. With the cruise set to an indicated 78 mph, on a good day I will probably get an average of 50 mpg on the trip computer over a run allowing for the usual speeding up/slowing down (more like 47 mpg actual). My overall average is about 44 mpg (calcuated) in mixed running.
  21. When I bought one for my 2007 vRS in 2008 (I wanted the leather covered one), I think that I only paid around £25 from a dealer. Surely they can't have gone up that much in price (though I appreciate you have quoted a Euro price).
