  1. yep, for this to happen at this stage is a kick in the ****. They were doing the final dyno runs when they noticed the power had dropped to about 230hp, so they did a compression test and then phoned me. My missus is going bonzai at me about it because she had all these things planned, so im now going to have to rent a car to keep her happy. This is exactly why she wants me to get a second car for trackdays instead. To be fair, this issue is a widely know problem on this engine, so i guess it was kind of expected, its why not many of us have faith in the engine and partly why ive been considering getting rid for a long time. Its happened now, so i might as well keep it i think.
  2. Well, im not going to be collecting the car tomorrow. The Fabia gremlins have jumped up and bit me in the arse. Lost compression cylinder 1. For obvious reasons warranty is off the cards, and now were looking into either replacing them with the newer revised pistons/rings ( my preference) or going to an aftermarket variant. My main concern with the current aftermarket options is that they will have been designed from the original outdated pistons/rings, so potentially could suffer the same problem. Not best chuffed tbh, but hey ho, not much we can do about it tbh.
  3. The right rear is slightly out(only 18 minutes different) which is something i will address but its not a huge difference, but its definitely not positive camber. Reference torque steer, its been present since stock and become more notable as the power has risen. In all honesty i hardly pay attention to it anymore anyway, so whether it became worse after fitting the springs i dont know. No doubt some geo work can alter it to a certain degree but its a fundamental problem with the chassis and can only be masked to a certain degree by the geo etc. I wouldnt pay much attention to the original castor settings either. They will not be reflective of the stock car. Im running the increased castor/anti lift Superpro front bushings which allow you to run higher castor. Cant remember how much extra it gives though. On my last car i the front wheels toed out and reduced understeer quite substantially. So much better when initially turning into a corner. It wasnt the best at higher speeds like that though, it got quite nervous. I ended up with zero toe was was a nice compromise. I dread to think how the Fabia would respond to toe out lol.
  4. Ive been getting cold feet with the Fabia for ages. My missus wants me to have a normal car and a cheap trackday car. So thats probably the route ill follow, but i cant just have a run of the mill normal car because it would bore me to death. I really like the Rapid and if the vRS looks anything like this id buy it. Thats provided it retains a decent petrol engine that is. If it stays 1.4TSi i could go straight to stage 3 and transfer all the chassis mods straight across.... then buy a track car lol. Not sure thats what the missus was after though
  5. The key is in the name. VWRacing are the people you need to speak to. APR UK also sell them, but as they are in the same workshop. 08456 80 50 88
  6. mine is a 100% out of the box setup. The OPs has two separate pipes, one of which has the breather pipe. Mine runs a single pipe which has a breather pipe built into it. It wont fit with a standard size battery either. The battery is only about £120 anyway.
  7. well the wheel alignment was pretty far out after the springs were fitted. Alex managed to get some more castor as well which is good. Ive not driven it yet, but Alex said he gave it a good testing today in the wet and its handling really well now and has loads of feel though the steering now.
  8. I dont have any of that to hand. The bhp gains were about 10Hp in the midrange and around 7 hp peak. Battery is 7kg iirc. Speak to ITG about the cleaning methods. iirc its soak it in petrol and massage out any debris and dust et. Once dry re-oil it with the supplied spray
  9. Same setup as me but i have the braille battery instead. Great intake.
  10. Ditto. I was originally going to get the estate but they wouldnt let me have it with a black roof. The estate is definitely better looking, and i think it would have been hilarious to have a 250hp+ 1.4 Fabia estate.
  11. it wont be to stiff, dont forget its only running progressive springs and its not exactly slammed. Apparently the rear bar fits REALLY snugly and required some blood and sweat. The front bar requires the exhaust to be removed to remove/replace the bar.
  12. Id imagine the back box is identical. Looking at the amount of space between this H&R bar and the back box im intrigued to see how the jabbasport (Mk2 vRS) bar is shaped because the jabba bar allegedly rubs on the Mk2 backbox
  13. Dont know yet mate. Only got back into the UK tomorrow. Plan on collecting the car on friday. The ARBs were fitted today. Originally i only planned for just the rear bar, but Alex had the front/rear kit in stock so rather than than wait for another single rear bar kit to be ordered i thought do the full kit. Alex is doing a fast road geometry check on the car next.
  14. I had the AP kit on my Octavia. It was great when I was living in Germany. When I moved back to the Uk I found them far too crashy so I took them off.
  15. Why coilovers? Id rather go for a very good spring damper combo than a budget coilover setup.
  16. I have the VWR springs and ride comfort is perfect, stance is a million times better but not to low either. There's a H&R group buy on at the moment in this forum ssaving you 25% on springs
  17. I'll let everyone know how it has all gone when i collect the car. The APR cooler isnt complete yet either. Not sure when that is done. As for 1/4 mile times, we'll have to wait until next year as all the strips are closed for winter i think. Sy
