My previous insurer stated that I had to be 25+ and have license for 2+ years for my VRS, maybe 25 is a cut off point for high to low (as some wont touch you till your 25 as my previous), try the comparison sites again but put your age to 25 with 8 yrs ncd (as if it was this time next year), see if it makes any significant difference, might be worth holding out for a year (or till your 25) if you can, and yes postcode makes a big difference.

Was quoted just under 800 fully comp from my current insurer of 6 years to quote on my VRS (who stated that to drive it I MUST be over 25 and have a 2+ year license). Money supermarket got a quote for just over 300, which also included full legal cover, NCD protection and up to a grand in audio cover all of which my current insurer didnt include in their quote. It pays to shop around and not just take your renewal quote, insurers seem to be taking Sky's aproach to existing customers, there are no loyalty benefits to existing customers anymore. I didnt ask about breakdown, Ive got that on warranty.

Apologies if these have been asked before.... I just got my Octy and have a few questions about fitting external sources to it. 1, The Interface states 2 aux inputs (1 Audio, 1 A, V or A&V) does this mean it has 2 hardware inputs? or do they share 1 connector? or is it one source or the other? 2, Is there a simple way to enable video in motion? I have read about using the VAG.com cable, but Im not that brave. Before I have comments on dangerous driving with video, its for an external media player hard drive that I use as a mass music storage device, but it has its own GUI, hence need the video. I used it previously with a canabilised 7" screen, but as the MFD2 has a built in screen..... 3, Is there a decent supply to attach an inverter to (its a 600W inverter but wont be using anywhere near that), I would prefer it to be switched via the ignition rather than having to attach it directly to the battery and switch it on/off manually? I saw the black one mainly around oadby/wigston, seen it flying up the A6 in aodby with lights and sirens more than a couple of times.

Nope, spoke to the dealer, it does have the jumbo box but as posted before its only the newer (07- ?) jumbo boxes have the aux input.. Oh well . Christmas is coming up lol

Until recently I lived in Leics ans used to see their Octys all the time (passing me not chasing me mind) they have a nice black VRS with all the hidden lights (grill, bumper trim, etc.) It was the reason for me choosing a black VRS.

I havent received my car yet (55reg VRS), but it has this arm rest with the vents on, is this the jumbo box? or do they do one with vents that doesnt have the stereo connector in?:confused: (HU is MFD2)

A family member has an audi RS4 with a factory ICE system that has a nice slide-in ipod dock in the glove box and can be controlled via the stereo. Lovely system and prob does a hell of a lot more (Ive only been in it twice), but for the price of the car Id expect it as a minimum.

Thanks for the reply, it answers my question about the type fitted by the factory, but no the insurance company was quite happy with the factory spec alarm it was more of a 'piece of mind' thing as my experience of factory alarms (admittadely from older lesser specced cars) isnt brilliant. With the tracker, I was hoping for maybe an insurance reduction. Thanks for the info (glad I joined up )

Im getting soon a 55 reg black Octy VRS, and was wondering if anyone had any resonably priced suitable aftermarket alarms and/or trackers,?

After getting a decent quote from esure (nearly 400 quid cheaper than my current insurers Zurich) for the Octy VRS im getting soon, I saw the option for 'is a tracker fitted to your car' I tried the quote again with the same answers except the tick for the tracker to see if it would be worth getting one. The quote went up by £15, why would this be, surely its a deterent and a insurance recovery aid? Why would they charge to have it fitted??

Hi there, Im a first time (soon to be) Skoda owner. Ordered a lovely Black 55 reg Octy VRS from Mitchell Skoda of Cheshire Oaks. It will be my first decent (and certainly the newest) car Ive owned and I cant wait till my hopeful pickup day on Tuesday on Tues 28th (4 Days and counting!!!) I went to Mitchells to look at a 06 VRS in blue, but fell in love with the slightly cheaper and better specced 55 VRS in black. I had a large choice of car manufacturers and models to try and the Octy VRS came up as my first choice for cars under 12yo lol. (and third in my top 5 favourite cars of all time;) ) I always fancied the older yellow VRS's with the dark grey alloys, but have been told that resale values of yellow ones are so bad, just because of the colour :( and SWMBO wouldnt let me have a yellow one Was browsing the web for various things about the car and this site kept cropping up and seemed to have most of the useful information so here I am.
