Fastest car you have seen use its power on the road?
Rhoobarb replied to coursemyhorse's topic in General Automotive Chat
A couple of years ago I was on the M1 north bound, Luton-ish, when a black SLK (AMG or Brabus type thing, couldnt tell, too fast) was racing a yellow Lambo Murcielago, I was flat out at 70 in a C reg micra when they blew past me sounding like fighter jets more than cars. It was a bit of a struggle when the micra started to slide sideways from their draft  This was at around 3 on a Sunday afternoon, Ill bet if Id been doing 85, a copper would have appeared behind me :( The fastest Ive been in is my Brother in laws RS6 on the A12, I was offered a blast in the drivers seat but declined, lol. If I had had an accident.......... -
Once again Uncle B, you've come to my rescue. :smrbow: Thanks a Lot If the rain lets up, Im having a go at this today

Is there any way to easily remove one of the air vents from the rear of the Jumbo Box? One of the horizontal 'fins' has come loose (prob kicked as someone got out of the car) on one side and doesnt turn or lock with the thumb dial anymore. Many Thanks

PROLONG FUEL SYSTEM TREATMENT - Carnoisseur Direct > Performance car parts & accessories This the stuff?

Someone mentioned Cataclean in another thread and it reminded me to ask. Anyone able to recommend a good engine cleaner/conditioner/treatment like Cataclean, etc. Suitable for a VRS TFSI? Should this only be done as and when required, or on a monthly/yearly/etc basis? Ive never used these before:O and the internet seems a good place to get horror stories for these things (Voids Warranty, Engine Seized, etc) Cheers:thumbup:

Another colour-coded grille - DIY with pics
Rhoobarb replied to Brimma's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Nice, Im tempted to go DIY but just know Id bodge it. If I could get a spare already done in black........ -
Im sure they need to be special LEDs with resistors on them to fool the car into thinking its a bulb instead. The car is looking for a certain power drain from the bulbs, the LEDs use a lot less power, so the car thinks there is a fault. Lots of threads about this. Not sure if you can DIY the resistors tho.....

About to join the Mk2 group.....
Rhoobarb replied to All torque's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Nice. I wanted a yellow one, but SWMBO did not like the idea =( I think it would look a lot nicer with dark anthracite alloys like the old volvo 850 t5r http://www.com1.se/volvo/images/volvo1.jpg -

Octavia vRS Fuel Consumption
Rhoobarb replied to vRS Carl's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Yesterday I tested on a long journey and managed high 40s to low 50s in MPG from wirral to birmingham, I think thats good for a petrol turbo. But it was soooo boring. 50-60mph, low revs, freewheeling down hills, etc. Even miss daisy would have said 'dang this is boring!' On the way back I only managed 36-38mpg, I wanted a bit more enjoyment lol. Maybe my computer is just too generous -
I was thinking of maybe going anthracite with my zeniths, I think they would look nice in a matt charcoal, very sleeper car style. I really dont like the white ones on the octy. Maybe on a different design alloy? If you DO decide to go anthracite could you post some pics?

Rear washer jet not working
Rhoobarb replied to andymcpherson24's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Does it state in the manual anywhere to use VAG/Skoda/whatever approved wash fluid? Surely if it doesnt then thats a case of, 'well the manual didnt say so'. Maybe dealers are getting fed up with doing this on warranty work. -
I would expect a lot to say that you need to be over 25 and have x amount of license years to insure a VRS. Whoever you go with I think it will be very expensive. Saying that tho, it should poss be cheaper than a similar specced corsa/fiesta/saxo etc.

My local dealer had got a normal VRS in that grey, does look nice the grey with the zeniths. Would like to see it with matt charcoal zeniths.

Octavia vRS Fuel Consumption
Rhoobarb replied to vRS Carl's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Usually on Miss Daisy mode @ 60-70 I get 40-42mpg. Urban can be anywhere between 15-30mpg, depending on length of trips. I know the maxi can be a bit optimistic. I always reset to get more acurate figures (departure to motorway - reset - motorway to motorway end - reset - motorway end to destination. I like to know my average for each leg.
