  1. Has anyone considered silicon blades? I was looking at the PIAA blades.
  2. As above, I get these squeaks but have put it down to the seals moving over the flexing chassis as it only happens when the chassis contorts in certain situations. I had used a product to lube the seal which seems to fix it but will now look at the product suggested by silver1011.
  3. Per previous comment, the whole purpose of off-road or snow driving is to allow for slip be it when pulling away or braking. Otherwise when you are stuck in snow trying to get traction the car will brake essentially locking you in place. Switch off TCS and your wheel can slowly spin on idle and you can move the wheels to gradually gain traction and move. Equally when braking an over zealous ABS system will simply not stop you and you keep rolling. Allowing wheels to lock and build snow in front of them aids the slowing process. I belive the Haldex clutch engagement it adjusted too to drive the rear wheels without the need for so much wheel slip.
  4. Throttle response softened. DSG gear changes lower in the rev range. Steering input weighted. ABS relaxed. Traction control relaxed allowing wheels to slip a little. These are the things I perceived to change when I enabled snow mode in heavy snow last year in Hampshire!
  5. Funny, I have always called it the Nissan Puke as it offends me so. Just like the ****su****y Galant my friend owned! And a good friend referred to my Fabia as a ladies body part.
  6. I have never experienced this behaviour with the instrument cluster lights with the auto lights enabled at night. This does not seem normal to me. Personally I have never used anything but auto lights since I purchased the car and they have never failed to operate appropriately.
  7. It looks like a squatting dog trying to do its business .. !
  8. If I was going to push above the 40k tax bracket I'd be looking to jump into a nearly new premium vehicle. Something that I did consider. For the price of the Kodiaq VRS I'd be looking at a 2018 BMW X5 M 4.0D 7 seater with 10k on the clock at around £41500. Personal opinion I appreciate.
  9. Unfortunately my 3.5 year old isn't the best at following instructions. Containment measures are required. Probably gets it from his father!
  10. My wife was of the same opionion on the MPV which decided the Kodiaq for us. Personally I have found Broadspeed good, many rate Carwow too. Both do good discounts. The only options I would suggest, and this is a controversial one, is the heated steering wheel. Love it in the winter months. My view was only changed when I drove a mates Range Rover with the option.. Lastly the electronic child locks and blinds are good. I can select which child can leave the car based on age and trust. Blinds invaluable in the summer months.
  11. We have 3 kids. Seriously considered the Sharan as an option. You will get some pretty decent online discounts on the Sharan. Chose the Kodiaq due to the higher ride height, just felt there was more metal (or plastic) around the family in the event of an accident. My wife did not want an MPV. The 3rd row of seats in the Kodiaq are not really for regular use. The are more occasional and useful for kids and shorter adults on shorter runs. My 8 year old who sits in the last row more regularly feels sick there so end up on the back bench with my other two. If you want genuinely useful 3rd row seats the Sharan wins hands down. The Touran was just too small.
  12. 2.4 bar. Tried eco pressure of 2.7 bar and it made the ride terribly brittle and crashy.
  13. If you find you snag and break a protector I have just noticed this site sells them for £8.50 each. Not seen these for sale seperately before .. http://www.theskodashop.co.uk/category/Kodiaq/Body_Parts___Kodiaq,b.html Appreciate if they broke due to the mechanism itself then this is not the option for you.
  14. The issue I experienced was very similar. They mechanism would not fully retract. I believe the plastic nut on the actuator on the door hinge side can be screwed in and out to tension the return spring. At least that is what my dealer did to try to remediate mine. It solved the issue for a day or two before the mechanism would not retract again. I considered pursuing remediation however the next step was to replace the mechanisms. The act of popping off 4 door trim cards to replace them concerned me more with possible damage/fit/rattles when putting it all back. I decided to remove and forget them for now. Appreciate Skoda should remediate and may pursue a fix at next service. For now with my kids potentially catching them and the potential for them to cause some damage or marks to the door frame I have chosen to remove.
  15. Ah, my apologies, I had misunderstood. As everyone has suggested I think that is rather odd they would suggest it would affect warranty. I have hard wired in my Vicovation and had a warranty job and service since. Not a murmur of an issue from the dealer I go to. As mentioned above if they deemed the work to have directly caused a problem then maybe they might not honour the warranty job. More than happy to share the process and parts I used to do this if it would help you. If it would help you please message me and I will share what I did with pictures.
  16. I would imagine Halford are nervous due to reported incidents recently of them causing warning lights to illuminate that they have been unable to remediate. Personally I would not have Halfords touch my car at all for anything. With all due respect they are just kids playing with your 35 grand vehicle. You are brave. Stick to the dealer if you are not wanting to do it yourself.
  17. Install the app on your phone and choose the Kodiaq. All the canned changes are listed as well as guidance to code yourself. Bear in mind you need various hardware present to achieve some of these.
  18. As you suggest the 190 diesel will give you 230 odd brake and 500nm of torque when tinkerd with from most of the reputable tuning boxes or remaps. What you do lose are looks. I would prefer the 280ps engine out the superb with a little more fettling.
  19. These are utter rubbish. Day 1 my driver protector failed to retract fully. 3 months in the rest all failed to retract and scuffed the door. Been back to the dealer for adjustments. Still fail to work. P*** poor design and a waste of time. I have removed mine and forgotten about the ‘feature’. The only “simply stupid” feature of my Kodiaq unfortunately.
  20. It is not a myth unfortunately. It is very real. Have to say you are the first I have heard of to be rewarded with a premium reduction post claim. To add context I change my insurer most years to retain the most reasonable premium for the cover I need. https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/cars/1010722/car-insurance-car-crash-premium-increase-at-fault
  21. Love my Kodiaq however if you love a truck and want quick why not consider the Amarok. I seriously considered the V6. Quicker than a Kodiaq in any engine guise. Feels and drives like and SUV. It is a monster but rear seats are not overly accommodating.
  22. Very annoying however going through insurance will no doubt load your premiums for the next 5 years. Non fault claims, as far as I have been subjected to, will load your premium when you renew your insurance. This is because insurers statistically find those with non fault claims tend to make fault claims. May have changed in the last few years. Certainly in the past I have done what I can to avoid going through insurance for a small figure as it is likely it will cost you considerably more than that over the next 5 years of having to state a non fault claim. A real shame.
  23. There is a set on eBay at the minute. Skoda originals with seals included for £600 plus £30 delivery from a dealer. Obviously a fit yourself but doable from reading this thread.
  24. Not far from you, no DAB issues to be honest. Rarely lose a signal unless travelling a long distance and just lose reception. My first car DAB unit and have found it rather solid with reception.
