  1. So... why don't we wait until seeing it in the flesh? We should talk about design, not about quality. It's only a picture
  2. It can also be a general setup mode (ECO, NORMAL, SPORT, INDIVIDUAL), already available in Octavia, Leon, Golf, etc. It changes the accelerator response, the steering, and so on.
  3. Well, I think those pics are not completely without camouflage... if you look carefully to them you can easily guess plastic covers on headlights and also in the back, I'd bet the final look will not be as seen in those photos. Also the front grille is partially covered. And talking about the rear wiper, it's not pretty but very practical. Anyway I'll wait for the combi
  4. And you are making the mechatronic mechanism to work, which at the end fails. Experience learned from hundreds of taxi drivers with DSG cars here in Spain: NEVER put the gear lever in position N in short stops if you make frequent urban driving. If you do so, do not expect the mechatronic to last too much. Tipically, around 100K km. Now forewarned...
  5. I completely agree with you. My previous Superb (2009 Twindoor 1.8 TSI DSG Elegance) was on 17" and, together with the engine, it's the only thing I miss from it when compared to my current car (2013 Combi 2.0 TDI Exclusive). I can't imagine how people like cars with 19 or 20" alloys, riding on that cars must be a torture.
  6. Chose it 14 months ago as company car. Right now 40 years old. Previous company car, Skoda Superb twindoor, when I was 35.
  7. It's funny see how Loki (Thor's brother) explains the design
  8. "the new ford kuga tit x" What's that? A new porn actress?
  9. So, answering hulahoop7 question, who started this topic: All in all, hulahoop7 should choose between manual or DSG depending on Australia and New Zealand hills, although you live in London. :wonder: :p Ask for a driving test on a DSG and decide yourself
  10. Can the automatic gearbox be manually operated? YES Can the manual gearbox be automatically operated? NO End of discussion IMHO, having a clutch pedal in the 21st century is completely out of date, it's the same as having manually operated windows or mirrors.
  11. I had a punscture a month ago and the TPS didn't work. It only showed a warning light when i put the spare wheel on. Fabolous I don't mind how it works, I don't mind if it's cheap or expensive, I don't mind anything about it EXCEPT I want it to work properly. If not, it's simply rubbish.
  12. How I wish my 170CR Diesel had the power of my previous 1.8 TSI. Both are DSG. I miss my petrol (except for fuel consumption... but anyway it's a company car, I don't pay the fuel)
  13. Hi everyone, Since a couple of months I have a Superb Combi. The previous car, a twindoor Superb (Elegance spec), was equipped with premium bluetooth and Bolero radio, and it worked perfectly with my old Nokia C5. My current car (Exclusive spec) have the standard factory-fitted bluetooth, and it also worked OK with the Nokia C5. But now the Nokia has died after more than 4 years, and I have replaced it with a Samsung Galaxy Ace. The synchronization between the phone and the car unit was done with no problems. But when I downloaded the phonebook, the SIM numbers were not downloaded into the car, only the numbers stored at the phone. I copied the SIM numbers into the telephone and it seemed to work, but... ... everytime I come into the car, the phonebook is updated and the message "new phonebook available" is displayed on the Bolero screen, but creating new inputs swapping name and surname and even adding an index. That's to say, if I have a contact called "John Smith (cousin)", the next time I'll go into the car it will display: John Smith (cousin) John Smith (cousin) 2 And the next one: John Smith (cousin) John Smith (cousin) 2 Smith (cousin) John And the next one: John Smith (cousin) John Smith (cousin) 2 Smith (cousin) John (cousin) John Smith And the next one: John Smith (cousin) John Smith (cousin) 2 John Smith (cousin) 3 Smith (cousin) John (cousin) John Smith So imagine every phonebook input stored in that way. When I have to search a name using the Bolero touchscreen, I don't know if it has been indexed using the name, the surname, the number or the planetary alignment of Jupiter and Saturn I have tried to reset both the car bluetooth and the mobile phone, but the problem persists: every time I connect the phone and the car and duplicated phonebook is created. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  14. It's horrible anyway, I hope it won't be neither the facelift nor the Superb III
  15. I've had a Superb with cloth ivory interior for 4 years. I bought it when my daughter was born. 20 months later my son was born. So it's possible to have two liitle children and an ivory interior, it's just a question of clean it regularly. Since a month I have another Superb with Ivory interior but leather instead of cloth, and now the floor and carpets are dark (right now there's no choice when ordering a brand new car). Leather is much easier to clean than cloth, so I'm happier with my current situation: it's smarter and easier to clean than my previous upholstery, so I recommend you, even if you have little devils
  16. Some months ago, when thinking to replace my company car (2009 Superb 1.8 TSI DSG), I was so pleased with it that I could not think on a better car. So I ordered another one, but only changing the things that could be an improvement. - From 5-door to Combi: boot volume is more or less the same but the electrically-operated door makes things easier - Leather upholstery - Fuel consumption: from TSI to TDI - DSG reliability: from 7-speed to 6-speed - From 17"" to 18" wheels - Panoramic sunroof - Front parking sensors Therefore my choice was a Superb Combi (state is called Combi here in Spain), TDI 170 DSG, Platinum Grey, Ivory leather with 18" Themisto alloys. Trim level is Exclusive, which is the top trim level for this market together with L&K; almost everything is included: leather, xenon, panoramic sunroof, park assist, 10 speaker sound system, electrically adjustable front seats with memory, 18" wheels, bluetooth GSM II, tyre pressure monitor, full size (16") spare wheel, hill hold assist, etc Ventilated front seats are not available, and IMHO I think is a stupid and nonsense decision for Spain. If you have leather seats and live in the South of Spain, you DO need ventilated seats. Last Friday was the great day. I finally picked it up from the dealer. But Murphy laws are always there, and it was raining a lot so I could not take any decent photos. I'm very pleased with all the new toys, specially the park assist and the panoramic sunroof . I have only done 300 km so the engine is not obviuosly at his peak performance, but the initial feeling is that the fuel consumption is better: it drinks less... but it also runs less, I think I have lost the punch of my previous 1.8 TSI. I would have liked a 2.0 TSI, but i know I can't have everything , and anyway I love my new car
  17. 106: 2013 Combi 2.0 TDI 170 DSG, Exclusive, Platinum Grey
  18. Telecommunications engineer, working for a medical devices company. 4 years with a Superb as company car, and now I have just ordered another one, Combi this time
  19. Almost 4 years and 130.000 km with a Superb. Only two failures, one minor and the other major: - the minor or stupid one is the filler cap door did not open sometimes some months ago, I usually had to make some attemps to open it. One day I forced it and never failed again. Problem solved. - the major one was the DSG-7, the entire gearbox was replaced with 100.000 km. That's a well known problem in VAG, and durability and reliability of DSG-7 are not good despite being used on Skoda, Audi, VW or Seat. So my next car will be DSG-6. Appart from that, the car is absolutely great: spacious, quiet, powerful and comfortable. My company is currently offering the Volvo XC60 to the employees. Instead of choosing a 136 CV manual Volvo farmer car with a horrendous cloth upholstery and and ridicolously poor equipment, I have just ordered a Superb Combi TDI 170 DSG Exclusive fully loaded for the next 4 years; and the monthly cost is 115 euros less for the Skoda. After 20 years with company cars and after Nissan, Saab, Seat, Audi, Volvo and Skoda... ... it's the first time I repeat a car. I think this means something ¿Problems with my current car? Fixed with the next: DSG-7 reliability > go for DSG-6 I would prefer leather > choose Exclusive I would like a bigger boot > choose Combi The rest of the car is just perfect for me
  20. I think fuel tanks are 70 in the Passat and 60 in the Superb.
  21. I finally picked my car up last wednesday. The dealer asked for a new gearbox, but the factory replied that an upgrade was needed before the replacement... an upgrade about the timing chain rollers So the car spent a whole week at the dealer waiting for the pieces After doing the upgrade, the gearbox could be finally ordered. After another week, the dealer even did not know the scheduled delivery date I made a very angry phone call to the Customer Service and "miracolously" :wonder: the following day the gearbox was sent from the factory. The local dealer recieved it two days after and it was mounted and checked. I drove for over 400 km and did not noticed any special improvement, but yesterday I received a phone call from the dealer asking me for going there because the new gearbox software had not been loaded. The did it in 10 minutes and now the gearbox is smoother, very close to the DSG6 behaviour So it seems to be related with the software. What do you think?
  22. Yes, of course. Some days ago I noticed a sound coming from the engine bay, left side. The sound was very similar to the one produced by a bad installed radio, that's to say, a whistling sound that increased with speed, and the frecuency also increased with speed (low velocity = low frequency or bass sound, high speed = high frequency or treble sound). It was independent of the selected gear, the sound at 120 km/h was the same in volume and frequency despite of being in 5th, 6th or 7th gear, and even in "N", so I presumed it did not come from the gearbox (but obviously I was wrong). I had a similar sound in my wife's Saab 95 SW two years ago and finally it was due to a damaged wheel bearing, so this time I thought it was the same. Even the technician at the local dealer, after going for a ride with my car, thought the same. But when I left the car at the garage last wednesday and they began to investigate, they realised it came from the gearbox. When I pick up the car next friday I will ask them which was the particular problem (clutch, electronics, ...), and also if the problem is supposed to be solved on the new gearbox. I'll keep you informed. P.S. Important: I did not suffer the vibrations in 2nd gear or anything else, the gearbox performed very well until a few days ago, 38 months and over 105.000 km.
