  1. You'll probably have to create an accout on Erwin and pay for an hours access to view the workshop manual for this procedure.
  2. No. The delivery date is first registration and commencement of warranty. The two are usually about 3 months apart. The example above was built at the end of September 2019 but it wasn't actually delivered to the new owner until mid 2020.
  3. Regarding dash cams - great idea, i have 2 in my car, they've paid for themselves 10 times over and we fit lots of them at work. However, when I'm presented with a vehicle that has one fitted I disconnect it. We live in a society where some folk like to pick faults in people and the way they do things under the most innocent of circumstances so they have some form of upper hand or ammo to lodge a complaint. We (the stealers) are continuously scrutinised by folk who, in actual fact have very little knowledge of the day to day running of said business and usually no experience other than that they can perform some basic tasks on their car. I fix cars, I can also fix my boiler, plumbing, electrics, brickwork, roofing etc but on the very rare occasion I have to pay someone to carry out a task that I'm incapable of doing I don't approach them with contempt, that's sadly the position that I'm in on a daily basis, on the other hand I've met some really nice people and it's been a genuine pleasure to help them out. GDPR is the main reason you'll be told you can't record whilst your vehicle is in a workshop. I'm sure that you also have to have permission from the land owner to film on private property. Regarding videos of your car sent by the dealer. A Citnow video is standard practice in most dealerships now. It was born off the back of AudiCam and basically involves a technician/yard ape/grease monkey/mechanic taking you through the condition of the mechanical components on your car. It creates transparency and helps remove the element of doubt that many folks have when they're told they need work doing on their car. Dealers have signed up to a duty of care agreement that means we have to carry out a brief inspection on every vehicle we have in our workshop, the video ties in nicely with that. The bare bones of it are that it's a selling tool and for the most part - it works.
  4. 30/09/2019 was the date it rolled off the production line.
  5. Smartlink+ allows for wireless android auto connection, presumably through the WiFi on newer infotainment systems. I dare say the dongle will be the same one I've mentioned
  6. If you want to do the things you've mentioned in your first post then the only 2 worth comparing are obdeleven and carista. I don't rate carista at all, numerous faults and bugs. Both less than £100 but updates are free from Obdeleven or there's an annual fee for carista. Obdeleven is a serious contender against VCDS. Even the enthusiast cable for 3 VINs will set you back over £200
  7. Your car doesn't have smartlink+ just standard smartlink. You'll only be able to have the use of Connect light/my skoda light which requires a dongle for the OBD port that is available online or from your local dealer.
  8. OBDeleven with the pro license. Less than £100 Works well on both apple and android Very user friendly
  9. The OEM camera has it's own Can bus connectivity so no need for an additional module. Once fitted it needs both coding and calibrating. I'd be surprised if the 2 year parts warranty remained valid if it wasn't calibrated.
  10. Those prices are set by the brand and form part of the fixed price service scheme, some of them have actually gone up since the start of 2021.
  11. A known concern would be that of the clutch itself and in cases of persistent customer concerns the next step is to replace it. God only knows why they opted for a release bearing first 🤷🏼‍♂️
  12. I'm afraid I'm not allowed to share them. I've been under my own car today and the propshaft coupling is cracked and looking a bit sorry for itself but it's not causing me any issues.
  13. There's a manufacturer bulletin on the subject that basically states that cracks don't necessarily render the coupling to have failed or be in need of replacement.
  14. If you have a part number then you should be able to request one from any dealer or TPS branch that deals with the public.
  15. It doesn't show any info on my browser? The CFHF engine looks to be the previous generation of CR TDI. If that's the case then it doesn't have the sleeved pump.
  16. I had a customer with a sleeveless coolant pump fitted by an independent garage. We replaced it with a genuine pump a month later. He wasn't happy with it at all. As a regular user of his vehicle up to 80k miles he noticed temperature related issues that didn't occur prior to fitting the pump. I fitted a genuine pump to my own vehicle, 2 years warranty and less than £200 for the entire timing belt/water pump kit. I'm not saying it's absolutely critical to fit a genuine pump, you fit whatever you like but I've never seen a repeat failure.
  17. The 6 speed filter is always changed with the oil during the service. On the 7 speed the filter is not as easily accessible and requires additional time to replace. It could be done during the service but for an extra cost.
  18. The DSG service main cost is generally the parts. The oil and filter are not cheap. The labour cost is minimal at half an hour or something like that. Basically there's not much room for massive savings regardless of where you choose to go. I'd strongly recommend a coolant pump replacement with the timing belt as they are a known issue. Whether you choose a dealer or not ideally you want to use genuine parts, genuine coolant, make sure the correct associated parts are replaced and the cooling system is bled correctly otherwise the 2 year parts warranty will be pointless and any claim likely rejected should you have an issue down the line. Avoid these aftermarket pumps that do away with the flow regulation sleeve. I've only come across one up to yet and it only lasted a month. The pumps are mechanically driven off the belt but they have an electronically operated sleeve.
  19. Coolant pump failure. Have a google of "VWG EA288 coolant pump failure"
  20. My apologies, it does say 2.0TSI in your last message, typo, worse things happen at sea. With it being a diesel there is no requirement for plugs (only replace them when they fail), it does have a fuel filter that I'd aim to replace at 40k miles. Cam belt is due at 5 years or 80k + depending on engine, that's engine code and build time specific. Water pump is best replaced along with it unless it fails beforehand. Diesel engines can be set to a variable regime whereby the time and distance has a maximum value of 18700 miles or 2 years. The vehicle will work out and count down to when it deams the service should be carried out. Yes you'll have the DQ381 transmission which VWG would have you believe will suffer no issues with the same oil slushing around for 80k, personally again I'd recommend it's changed at half that to prevent issues down the line.
  21. With that engine and gearbox combination you're looking at something like this: -an oil change every year or 15000km (9400miles ish) -pollen filter every 2 years -plugs every 40k miles (a must) -air filter every 60k miles (I'd do it with the plugs to be honest) -no fuel filter on the majority of MQB vehicles these days -brake fluid after the third year then every two years thereafter -air con every two years The DSG oil is 40k miles. The fixed price on this service (for god knows what reason) doesn't include a filter!?! Worth having it done with a dealer for support further down the line. The main cost is the parts. The labour cost is minimal. If you have an active front differential then the oil is due every 3 years. If you have all wheel drive then the haldex is due at 3 years, personally I believe it should be every 25k miles but VWG have decided that it's now going off age 🤷🏼‍♂️
