  1. The dab antenna is in the rear windscreen
  2. Jesus, it was about £225 all in when I was fitting them a couple of years ago in the dealership.
  3. You can go all round the houses having folk mess with your infotainment system or just bite the bullet and have a dealer install it for around £150.
  4. Yes, it can block the DAB signal completely
  5. Power Supply Unit? It's not an acronym I'm familiar with.
  6. For the most part the motor trade is a stagnant pool of talentless mongs I'm afraid 🤷🏼‍♂️
  7. You get next to no warranty on trim rattles. The period is minimal.
  8. It's a service campaign, not a safety recall. Some folk label them as the same thing.
  9. That's the newer 7 speed DSG that does have wet clutches and a change interval.
  10. The issue with the filter can be when negligent people fail to remove the bottom seal off the oil filter they remove. The seal remains in the filter housing then ends up with another seal squashed on top of it. This restricts the oil pressure through the housing then the rest of the engine as a result. Pop the oil filter off and have a look. Just make sure you put a rag under the filter housing so it doesn't spill oil everywhere.
  11. Does it show you anything if you click on either of those options?
  12. In 20 years of working for VWG I can count on 1 hand the amount of DSG flywheels I've replaced. The same goes for DSG clutch packs.
  13. The screen part number should be 5E0919605B. It acts as a slave unit to the main controller in the glove box. What do you see when you press "Versions"? Is there any mention of "ABT"?
  14. The first service is essentially just an oil change with all the areas required within easy access. Unless you gave them the go ahead to carry out any updates (none of which I'm aware of on the petrol engines) they shouldn't have done any.
  15. It's usually the screen at fault rather than the entire system and that software version in the image is that of the control module in the glovebox. The screens are readily available for little money these days and they benefit from being plug and play. You'll have to buy the release tools though.
  16. These days the glow plug light can represent the presence of any engine related fault. When a plug fails it will log a fault code. The crankshaft and engine speed sensors are one and the same. It lives in a little hole on the front of the engine. Oddly enough on modern VWG diesel cars it will be the engine management light that indicates a glow plug issue.
  17. Probably because they can't make their mind up what they're calling the coolant these days.
  18. If there is resistance in the wiring then the current build up will give the ECU the impression that the pump is sticking or is stuck. Might be worth investigating the wiring next.
  19. It will adapt to your driving style (singular, not plural) over a period of time. It will drive with you in mind in the control logic. Should someone else jump in then it will begin to adapt to how they drive. The topic was in the self study learning documentation for DSG transmissions, it formed part of the master technician training program that I attended some years back and is regularly quoted by the technical team in MK when folk are suffering with driveability issues especially in an instance like I quoted above where two identical vehicles are compared because they appear to drive differently. I drive mine to death, the gears hold in corners and it will rev right up until it changes even in D rather than S. The throttle is also very responsive. I drive my Parents Kodiaq and it will shift up the box as fast as possible, it feels sluggish in comparison. Same engine, same gearbox and both AWD but I drive like a nob and my dad drives like a pensioner. I'm quoting what I've come across over the years and what's been said by those who know more than I do. If it sounds difficult to believe then feel free to ignore it 🤷🏼‍♂️
  20. The reason behind the fault is the liquid crystals in the display freeze and fail to melt in lower temps. This renders the screen unusable for a few minutes then it usually goes mental. An update will change the way it behaves or a replacement with a newer part will eradicate the issue altogether in most cases.
  21. Unwanted resistance on that particular part of the loom can cause all sorts of unusual issues.
  22. Replace the 3 wires from the ECU to the crankshaft sensor then reassess the fault.
  23. Non safety related systems will begin to close down if the battery reaches a critical level. If it were at that point then you'd get a warning and the infotainment system would close down completely. The screen concern is usually a software and or hardware related issue. Does it only happen when the weather is really cold?
  24. If the turbo was over boosting then the ECU would pick up on it and log a fault code.
