  1. The oil filter chamber might be full of oil. You could always do what I did once - forgot the oil filter then dumped 5L of GTX out of the fitting when I started the car D
  2. Why do you want to get some oil out ? D
  3. Citroen C2 1.4HDi - 150000 miles or 120000 under extreme conditions. D
  4. Just get the correct filter and fit it. Can be done fairly quickly and is easy to do, you don't want a manky filter in for too long. D
  5. I'd agree with Luke_A above. It's a lot of money for a well used car and the engine isn't the only thing to worry about, everything else will have had more wear. I wouldn't have a problem if it was significantly cheaper.. Walk away from it and look elsewhere. D
  6. My Skoda Octavia Technical Data booklet shows :- 2.0-ltr./110 kW FSI : 5.3 2.0-ltr./100 kW TDI PD : 3.8 2.0-ltr./103 kW TDI PD : 3.8 I'd say you need 3.8L. These figures include oil filter change. D
  7. Sounds like it may be a dodgy connection. I expect God will un-fix it in a few days time D
  8. If it's software upgradeable, can they do a software upgrade so that the stream will read MP3's ? D
  9. Thanks for all the replies. How much are the Bolero and Columbus units ? Though if a Stream MP3 will talk directly to a USB HDD, that will be more than adequate (Added with the edit) What about coding the radio ? If a second hand unit is bought, does it just get recognized or does it need enabling from to talk to the rest of the car ? Regards, D
  10. If it was a sudden failure, check the fuses as well as clearing the codes. D
  11. Thanks Simbo. I don't know why I couldn't work that out for myself - maybe it's been a long day :( Next questions :- 1) Where's the MDI input that the radio manual tells me about ? 2) Bolero, Columbus, MDI - what are these ? If I have to change the radio, I want to make an informed choice. D
  12. Just been out after browsing the forums and checked and my radio says "Stream" on it. Do I already have a "Stream" or do I need a different one ? D
  13. Come on guys, you'll have to help me here :S I got even more confused using the forum search facility :( Is a "Stream" a type of radio or is it an extra bit that goes in the boot ? It's a bit irritating that the radio or the disc changer won't recognise CD's with MP3's on and the 'MIX' feature only mixes the selected disc. TTFN D
  14. It may just be "one of those things" TM. If it happens regularly, worry about it. The problem with modern cars is that there's so much electronics and software in them that can go awry every now and then for no reason other than there's been a glitch on the data bus. This means that everybody will suffer unexplained problems from time to time. D
  15. Interesting suggestions thanks. What sort of financial damage am I looking at and how available is this sort of kit ? I can fit it myself, but do any of them require vag-com to fit ? +Edit. Any of them work with DAB or is it just a waste of time on the move ? Thanks D
  16. Hi, I I have a 55 plate Ambiente with the cd changer in the boot. I want to be able to play MP3's. Can I replace the disc changer in the boot with a hard disk unit that I can shove my MP3's on to or do I have to upgrade the whole thing, including the unit in the cockpit ? Regards, D
  17. Greatest Apologies !!!! I don't see any sigs - I'll get them enabled PDQ D
  18. What did you turn on to get every first letter capitalized ? D
  19. I'm sure she's too polite to suggest what the F will be for D
  20. No - you're not missing anything silly - it's the nature of the fault. It could be any of the things you've looked at but worst of all it's intermittent and you can't replicate it at will. Once you can replicate it, it stops being intermittent and then fault finding becomes more specific - though not necessarily easier :( Did you try my spare key suggestion ? D The editor's a bit broken too :(
  21. D2F - Designed To Fail DAF - Dangerous AND Flawed DBF - Damaged BIG-TIME Financially I won't go on - fortunately D ... must resist....
  22. If one injector is faulty, you'd probably feel rough running and would have error codes, if they were all faulty the engine would stop but I find it hard to believe that all four injectors would totally fail causing the car to stop then all start working again allowing you to restart it. I'm pretty certain it's not the injectors. It has to be a single component that is common to all the systems, e.g. fuel pump, ECU, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor etc. D
  23. It could be lots of things - it sounds intermittent :( I'd be tempted to try coasting in neutral at some point and see if it continues, this would rule out the engine. It's only 23K miles, if it's still under warranty, get it back to the dealer and get them to listen. D
