  1. This happened to me. Bluetooth unit under drivers seat was faulty on delivery of car when new. Cured by unplugging and replugging the power lead to that unit under the seat. Twelve months later same again but unplugging did not cure and new unit required.
  2. 170 4x4 done 26000 miles averaged 42mpg calculated properly. Mixed driving, quite a few short runs. I don't push too hard but keep to speed limits including satnav 70 (equals speedo 74) on motorways. Maxidot is way optimistic compared with real figures.
  3. We bought one on fleabay and my wife strapped it in back seat on first service. I didn't notice and no comment from the dealer either.
  4. My wife left the warning beeps on one night when reversing. Unfortunately, in her mind reverse logic took hold (do excuse that pun) and the more phrenetic the beeping, the more confidently she continued to reverse. Result - one scraped bumper on wall. The other side was scraped identically soon afterwards by another vehicle exiting parking spot alongside. Near perfect match. Like you I ignored the bumper scrapes for a while. When in for attending two tiny scratches the excellent small time body shop repaired those bumper scratches matching the black and the texture perfectly.
  5. Just got back from a two hour walk on very rural country lanes around our house. None of the roads go from anywhere to anywhere in particular - simply local access between farms and villages. There was, as expected, very little traffic and to be honest I've not been aware of all that many Yetis locally. However out of the few cars which we saw on our Two hour walk, 5 of them were Yetis !! John
  6. For two years running I have had a puncture (neither repairable) soon after fitting winter wheels. Was able to use the spare to get me to tyre fitters and I also keep a 5th winter tyre just in case. So I have needed both, the car spare and a winter tyre spare (kept in shed) for two years running.

    Handbrake

Mine is like that but can't remember if it was like that from new. Would not have noticed it if I had not read this thread.
  8. Well my TPM came up trumps today. Must have picked up a screw in the edge of my winter tyres yesterday on the first long journey with them this season. About 1 mile into the paper run this morning the TPM warning light came on. Stopped immediately but could see nothing on quick inspection. So proceeded cautiously to collect paper and returned home where tyre pressure gauge indicated a loss of 3/4 bar on rear near side tyre and right on the edge of the tyre was a screw embedded. Now I always keep a spare winter tyre in my shed and this is the second time in three years that I have needed one as I knew immediately that it was not repairable. Went to the tyre fitter I trust who carefully jacked the vehicle where he was supposed to using jack plus hockey whatnot pad. Changed the tyre and torqued the nuts properly and asked me what pressures I wanted. As always with this place (not a national chain) I was very impressed. Charged me £8 for fitting and balancing. I have immediately put in an order with Mytyres for a replacement tyre to once again adorn my shed just in case. An annoying but satisfying morning and YES I WILL now order a TPM on my next vehicle.
  9. I am very surprised. When I telephoned Telfords Carlisle to make the booking they immediately informed me without me asking that the badge was to be replaced regardless of its condition. They said it was a Skoda requirement for them to do so.
  10. When I got a full blowout near home and not realising I drove that mile home quite quickly. One pleasant surprise was the stability of the vehicle while inadvertently driving at speed with a flat. The other surprise was no warning from the TPM. That is one reason that I did not stop, knowing that I might have damaged the tyre - which was indeed shredded after being massively kerbed. However with a slow puncture it did eventually tell me. I now know to stop immediately if I suspect major tyre damage and not wait for the TPM to warn me.
  11. I always use BP premium diesel or Shell equivalent when I can find a shell station (very few on my normal routes). My expensive choice proves absolutely nothing but as long as I can afford it, it puts my mind at rest.
  12. "The trip across the A69 / A75 was uneventful, though I was glad of the extra torque while making progress past the inevitable parade of trucks on the road up to Cairnryan." That is exactly why I like my 170 so much - fantastic for safe overtaking.
  13. And yes the people I used are also experts at on the spot mobile chip repairs but thankfully also have a proper paint shop which they insisted on using. It was an absolutely perfect job so I am well pleased.
  14. Last week I had two tiny scratches on each rear panel behind the rear door repaired. Not much bigger than stone chips. Complete re spray of panels required and costed £340. So with that door as well.............................
  15. Telford Carlisle sent me a reminder that my car is due for service. It went in for that service about a month ago. Anyway the letter quoted £129 for first minor service (what I paid on variable with 18000 miles) and £249 for a major service. Inclusive of all parts, labour and VAT.
  16. Did mine today as well. Summers awaitng cleaning when I get some energy back - got a bit of an energy sapping bug. Gets harder each half year cos I don't get any younger. Putting Summers back on should coincide with first MOT so my man down the road can do both.
  17. You can see from my name what instrument I play. Would be quite a good reg for me.

    regen

Well that is more long journeying than I do and I rarely notice a regen. Noticed about 3 in 20000 miles - only because I came to a halt and the engine was reving at 1000rpm and fans were going. Never had to do a forced regen or anything like that.
  19. No - she had no idea really. However a young Russian lass who was obviously impressed by anything looking vaguely like wood in a car. Made me smile. Skoda and Bentley were indeed connected with the Superb chassis being the basis of the Bentley chassis until recently. I told her that and she was duly impressed - unlike her usual attitude to my Skoda.
  20. And with that combination the wood effect dash trim looks very good. Lots of comments on mine. The best one being when a passenger whose last trip was in a Bentley immediately noticed the wood effect trim and made favourable comparisons with the Bentley. !!!
  21. I've been following this thread with interest with me using DRL and cornering fogs. Everybody has made valid points but the above quote, in my opinion, is the most sensible thing said so far. It should apply for all conditions (defensive driving has kept me alive on Crete for over 20 holidays there). A defensive driving attitude is essential for everybody's well being and the points raised in this thread, even if some think dubious, are worth being there in the back of ones mind while driving. However I do not feel the need to go as far as not using DRL and try to turn off cornering fogs.
  22. The Bluetooth phone connection bong as discussed above annoyed me so much that I could never be bothered to get my failed Bluetooth unit repaired for about 2 years until the first service came up just before I went on holiday. While on hol I pottered with the car and reconnected my phone. The first thing I notice is a complete absence of the boing when the phone connects every time I get into the car. Wondering if this might be a new feature of a new Bluetooth unit fitted to the car.
  23. I leave my air conditioning on all the time, summer and winter. Did a short test to see if turning it off helped the fuel consumption, saw no difference, so I keep it on. Climate control looks after the temperature and winter use clears steamed up windows fast.
  24. Today I selected reverse to exit a car park in the wilds of Mull and instead of the expected reversing sensor actuation bong I got a hearty jingle followed by a voice saying something like "the language settings have been reset to English" I sat there stunned and could see nothing on any display to indicate anything unusual. The reversing sensor display was on and sensors worked. Didn't know yeti was chatty. I had not been playing with anything and could not force a repeat performance. Also, until tonight my phone had not been connected to the Bluetooth. Tonight I connected my phone and of course could get voice control activated whereby Yeti chatted to me nicely about various phone options. However that retort when I selected reverse earlier today came as a big surprise. Any ideas anyone ? Apologies in advance if I delay in responding within this thread but my Internet connection is somewhat iffy in this remote location.
