  1. I got mine form Superskoda. I am fairly sure they were cheaper than a dealer for the same thing.
  2. Round here the RRS are often driven by selfish idiots, often wearing Tweed and flat caps!
  3. Yeah, when my Passat was going off to the scrapyard in the sky, I had to pop the alloys with summer tyres back on as the steelies and winters were about two weeks old and went straight on to my Superb. I totally buggered up one of the locking nuts due to the overtightened nut. I now pay £10 to the garage to swap all 4 as frankly it saves me time and effort and the chances of having to have them drilled off. Also, I am off today to get the summers put back on. I bought the Superb and within 3 days had the winters on so cannot remember what the alloys even look like!
  4. A wage cap would have to be world wide or the top guys would just follow the money, a la the "brain drain". It is simple capitalist economics. Also, sociologically speaking football or rugby or other gladiatorial sport give the masses something to look forward to and talk about and live for in some cases. Fills the need for being part of a mob on a evolutionary scale. FWIW I also think £300k for running around kicking a ball is daft. When you hear commentators saying "wonderful shot" and it misses I always think if I was paying the sort of money they are on I would expect them to hit the target!
  5. The standard ice test is you run really fast then attempt a slide. If you do slide there is ice. If your feet dig in and you face plant at speed then you are safe to carry on. HTH
  6. Brilliant. I am always getting kids vernacular mixed up but even I know that one "pops" a caps in some cads arse.
  7. the width of wheel in inches
  8. Could be a faulty convenience module. I had the same thing happen after a visit to a dealer. After several hours of running the problem stopped. My interior lights did not come on and my indicators at he front just lit up and did not flash. The problem has not reoccurred so no idea what the fix might be.
  9. Not exactly on topic but according to my friend who teaches in Bangkok, it is good manners for the "ladies of negotiable affection" to lift their skirts to show no willy! Back on topic, it sounds like a great big scam but goodness knows how. Probably why I am not a criminal mastermind like Mr Grue!
  10. I was hoping for an idiot proof picture as I already tried to fit the square one and gave up! And to think 20 years ago I could change a head gasket! :(
  11. They are remarkably similar to mudflaps but they look much cooler!
  12. Oh joy, I just fitted fronts and back this morning as the wife works up muddy roads. Even a small difference will be better than without them on there. I can confirm that it is a simple job. It took me about 45 minutes including cleaning the area around where they were being fitted. I would also like to see the pics of the rally flaps please?
  13. Where does the third net go then? It is the 1.2 TSI so looks like an easy push on job. My Superb has the chromed tailpipes and they do look a lot smarter than standard.
  14. Well that is the Yeti been in the family for a week now. It has been going up a wee country road to my wife's work and the road is covered with mud most of the time. Also cow poo as I discovered when cleaning around the screws to get the flaps fitted. Hopefully they will make a difference as even after 4 commutes it was pretty mucky! Had a look at the unopened net system that was in the boot but could not make head nor tail of how it fits? I am now tempted to get the chrome tailpipe cover as the standard one looks a bit tatty with the rest of the car being nice and shiny! Anyone fitted one? Worth the money?
  15. In Scotland, the law is different but any maintenance falls to both parties with the cost shared. In your situation that could be really annoying! The grill should not e a legal problem as others have said, it is on your side and is not damaging in any way. Have you a mate who is a roofer or similar to just get a wee look and write you a letter saying it is a good idea? Then if her next door starts you can produce it.
  16. So annoying when this sort of thing happens! :(
  17. We have booked a hotel in Bowness on Windermere so we can climb Scafell Pike. Skye was an option but just a bit too far and quite expensive. Will maybe take the caravan when we have longer. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  18. I can see both sides on this one as my wife and I lived together a year before getting wed. We decided against a big family wedding as my family are North Scotland, hers are South of England. We did chat about wedding gifts and as we had most of the stuff we needed we had a tiny wedding with the 4 parents and my brother. We would not have felt comfortable asking for anything from a wedding list, let alone money but that is probably just our upbringing. I suppose it depends whether you love them and want to help them be happy or if it is a family obligation. My wife's cousin got married and they sent some form of invitation to us in which they asked for money. As they are grasping ******s and we have two small children we couldn't go so sent a card but SWMBO's parents were quite acerbic in their criticism. It may be a generational thing though, just because it is not traditional, in the sense that we did it for our weddings, does not make it wrong. If you are happy making a wedding list then you are asking for money in effect anyway. hundreds of years ago it was tradition for the Laird to bang your bride before the wedding. Traditions come and go. If you are uncomfortable giving money don't. Get them a lawn mower or something.
  19. George the enthusiastic man from "Restoration Man". He did "George Clarke's Amazing Spaces" during which he built an amazing three shape treehouse in Kielder National Park. http://www.visitkielder.com/news/2013/10/an-amazing-space I will look at the others tonight with he boss. We now have a two night pass from the in laws so probably looking at a nice mountain to climb or similar.
  20. No experience of TMC but a car allowance and mileage allowance do not cover wear and tear and tyres etc. Especially on a car that is depreciating heavily. Best thing is to run a pre DPF Modeo or similar that will cost £1200 and when it breaks just get another.
  21. 15% would cover all our childcare costs!
  22. Seriously??????????????? :wonder:
  23. Wow! :( Baby boomer by any chance?
  24. I live in the Scottish Borders and my in-laws have agreed to look after the kids overnight (although I have asked if that could be extended to 2 nights ). It will be our 12th Anniversary around the same time so am looking for somewhere nice and romantic, not sure about city or country or seaside etc but something unusual would be fantastic. Probably looking at a couple of hours maximum in the car so from Central Belt, Fife down to Lake District and Northumberland or thereabouts. Sadly the treehouse that George built is booked up till next year but something like that would be ace. Any ideas much appreciated.
