I am having Hybrid thoughts.... Golf GTE
Soot1e replied to James I's topic in General Automotive Chat
It's the best looking hybrid/electric car I have seen. Why do all the others have to look like Stevie Wonder designed. For instance the Prius wants the runner up prize for ugliest car on the road after the SsangYong Rodius. -
Paying up front for a car from a dealer?
Soot1e replied to richardsfavorit's topic in General Automotive Chat
I wouldn't even pay a deposit without seeing the car in the flesh. There has been some dealers that won't even refund the deposit if the cars not up to it. -
You're just jealous.

Audi now so dull their new A4 is literally photocopied
Soot1e replied to Girardi's topic in General Automotive Chat
The sit on the dash Nav unit is the same idea as on the Merc A class. Looks rather stealable, doesn't it? -
Could it be a -------------Radical?

-----------until you listen to it all day, every day, they do stick to a playlist which is what Radio Caroline never did.

Elvington runway 27/6/15 - Vulcan XH558 fly by
Soot1e replied to dbg400's topic in Photography and Photoshop
They manage it at Southend and that is quite a busy airport these days. -
one of the last vulcan bomber flights before retirement

Was a bit damp early afternoon, it's surprising how many people can shelter underneath the Vulcans wings. XH558 did a figure of 8 around Southend Airport so great to see. Couldn't get any decent photos as it was cloudy and wet, dbg400 photos do the plane justice. -
It's the hub/upright itself I was referring to.

Merc's new A class, all grown up with an AMG twist.
Soot1e replied to ColinD's topic in General Automotive Chat
Not for me, They seemed ok for people with slim narrow shoulders but not definitely man sized. I bought an older Audi S4 with the Recaros, proper man sized seats in that. -

They've added led lights and done some trivial trim changes I guess. It's the same shape to me. -
GB sticker should go on the lefthand side of the car, as you look at the rear, near the number plate. All the stuff mentioned above should be carried plus your driving license and V5. I have to admit that I have never done any of this when driving in France myself for the last 40 years and never been pulled. Just lucky I guess.

Yes, that's true as well.
-
All car hubs seem to do that now.

They have been around for two years now, are we in a time warp? -
It's a strange situation with Cabrios in this country, I don't understand the owners of them either. The only reason I can think off is. it's too hot sometimes when you're stuck in traffic, wouldn't want to get sunburnt would we?

I'll be at Southend too, it's their Vulcan open day and a fly past from the visiting XH558. Hope the old gal is up to it. -
Brochures for downloading----yes but not a hard glossy version. As you mentioned the fuel cap rest position, Audis and VW all have it.

Operating your car from your phone . . . . . here soon!
Soot1e replied to jlwah's topic in General Automotive Chat
Takes all the skill out of driving a car IMO. However Nissan owners can control the charging of their Leaf and switch on the screen heater remotely with a Smartphone. That is a good idea however. -
No, they won't help. All car dealer brochures handbooks etc. are re cycled as soon as they are out of date. Ebay is the only way to buy one.

Would you buy Skoda/ VAG based car again?
Soot1e replied to Doofy's topic in General Automotive Chat
Petrol cars, yes but no more Derv's for me. To much emission equipment on them now seems to make them less reliable and diesel is fast becoming demonized by some authorities. Well I've damned them all and bought an Audi S4, petrol of course. The A3 derv will be ditched next time it starts throwing a wobbly. -
