  1. Hi Folks. This topic may have been covered on numerous occasions but here goes. What is the correct oil to use in a 2007 octavia 2 1.9tdi that has had a re-map to approx. 140/145bhp? My mileage is small, approx 20k per year. Also is it possible that the re-mapping is getting "tired/weak" and if so is there any way of reboosting this?
  2. Us lads in the emerald isle get ambient spec for our elegance money(07 1.9tdi). Tis a bit of a rip off!! Wish i had the UK elegance spec.
  3. I'm from the southern capital and Colin from Angel Tuning came down from the north and mapped my 07 octy 1.9 in january. Feels like a new car, 140bhp and an extra 60 of the torque stuff!! Fuel consumption is relatively the same . Would love to have changed for a VRS but my present 2 yr old octy was being laughed at by the dealers, so i'm going to drive the octy until she falls apart.
  4. Hi Folks. A good friend of mine(ex mechanic) is going to service my 07octy 1.9tdi 45k in the next few days. This car has been remapped up to approx 135-140hp about 5 months ago, no problems, running like a train. The question is, What oil do I put into the car? Synthetic or Semi-Synthetic. He seems to think that I need fully synthetic(to cope with extra power now) but having read previous posts i'm not sure. Would fully synthetic oil damage the engine? Or will the standard VW507.0 do the trick? Help would be welcome.
  5. As i'm from the emerald isle I got them from Micksgarage.ie. They cost 120 euro approx, ordered them online and arrived in 3 days. They're not skoda parts and they attach to the underside of the roof by the door openings. I think they're italian and called La Prealpina. Not too difficult to asemble and sturdy on the roof. I think the genuine skoda rails attach through a bolt hole above each door but I would have paid a lot more than 120 euros from the local dealership. They should also be relatively easy to detatch when not needed. They should be plenty strong enough to carry my fishing kayak which is getting dipped into the sea this coming weekend
  6. Done!! Thanks a mill Great help as usual
  7. I've just fitted roof bars to my octy 07(Hatch). These are to carry a fishing kayak. The problem is that the aerial at the end of the roof is going to be flattened by the kayak itself which will probably damage it. Is there any way of bending/detatching this aerial whilst the kayak is mounted onto the roof bars. Thanks
  8. wega3 is right. Over here in the emerald isle we get 2 yrs warranty and that's you're lot. We also have the benefit of huge diferences in car prices. we loose again. My octy will be with me for a long time. Great car though with little bit if tinkering! Thanks so far
  9. Hi Folks. I have a skoda octavia 07 1.9tdi and it is due for a service shortly. It is it's third service at 45k and a good friend of mine is going to do the necessary work(ex mechanic and the skoda is out of warranty). I know though that this famous spanner sign indicating service time is going to appear on the dash between the speedo and rev counter. Is there any way of getting rid of this spanner sign without having to go the dealers which is an eighty mile round trip. Thanks What a car by the way!!
  10. Hi folks. My better half collected me from the pub in my octy 07 elegance recently and unfortunately I think she has scratched the leather on the underside of the steering wheel with a ring that she was wearing. The wheel in scratched in long sections and I was wondering is there anyway of repairing it.
  11. I have recently remapped my 07 1.9 tdi. Angel tuning done the trick and the car is going very well. Fuel economy seems to be about the same, though I haven't taken the car for a good long burn on one of our few decent roads here in Eire. I have got 4.9-5 litres per 100km on 50 mile runs on B roads so that seems very good. The pickup and extra power in 4/5th gear is excellent for overtaking. I have gone from 105 to 140bhp
  12. Hi Lads. My octy 07 1.9tdi has 42000 km on the clock and is due a service soon. As i've had it remapped recenty, up to 140bhp(Angel Tuning) i am wondering what type of air filter would best suit this increase in hp.
  13. Could anybody tell me the correct/best engine oil to put into my 2007 1.9tdi pd octavia 2 and is it advisable to add any additives? This may have been discussed already but i'm not sure if there is a diference between 1.9/2.0 litre engines
  14. I'm thinking of getting it fitted. I've been on to the local dealer and they have quoted approx. 200 euros to supply and fit. Depends on the funds.
  15. I got my 07 1.9tdi elegance remapped recently (Angel Tuning). I'm not one for driving like a nutter but there is a great boost in power especially for safer overtaking in 4/5th gear. I'll be hanging onto this car for a long time. I'm looking into doing another few jobs,re cruise control and maxidot. This car is too good to give away to a dealer for a new one!!
  16. Yes. We are kph on speedos for the past two years in ireland. All the road speed signs are in kph. The big diference is that we pay bucket loads more for our cars in ireland and most of the roads are like mountain tracks!!
  17. They remapped my 07 octy tdi 3 weeks ago. I'm very happy so far. They arrived on time and the job was done in 1.5 hrs. 35 extra hp for a very reasonable price. (ireland and euros)
  18. Hi There. I have just got a reply from this web site (www.auto.asp2.cz ) regarding a maxidot pod and the price seems to be fairly reasonable at 180euros to buy and 25euros delivery to Ireland I'm just wondering if this is the correct pod for my 07tdi elegance re: Panel přístrojů s velkým MAXI DOt displejem and do I need any fiddly bits as well, cables etc ? I have since enquired to the availability of a cruise control stalk as on the web site as there are several and I don't know which one is right for my car. Finally could anybody tell me where I can get these fitted in Ireland as the main dealers are'nt keen on retro fitting a maxidot
  19. Hi there. I got my 07octy elegance 1.9tdi remapped last saturday by Angel Tuning(Colin) They came down to Cork from northern ireland (5hr drive), and had the job done in 1.5/2hrs. Colin went over the re-mapping procedure with me and when it was finished we went for a test drive. I'm very happy with the car now as it pulls very well in 4/5th gear. The car now has 35 extra horsepower 105-140bhp and from 184-240lbs/ft torque. This is all the power that I need at the moment and the extra grunt when overtaking in very welcome. As for fuel consumption it is too early to tell yet but Colin asures me that as long as I don't drive the nuts off the car there will be a slight inprovement. As for the insurance company, telling them or not, I'm undecided. I feel that I'm paying enough for driving in ireland at the moment. In regards to service and price, I would recommend Angel tuning
  20. Ho Folks. Just got my octy1.9 remapped by Angel Tuning on saturday. It's going beautifully with plenty of grunt in 4/5th gear. Has anyone views on the availability/issues of retro fitting Cruise control and Maxidot to my 07octy elegance. The car was bought new in ireland but does not have these features that are standard in the UK(Whats new!!)
  21. Hi Gaff. Sorry I missed your pm but my laptop threw a wobbly as I was reading it!! Could you send it again and i'll reply with details
  22. Thanks for the replies, but excuse my ignorance. How can maxidot be fitted and what benefit will I have from it?
  23. I've decided to remap my 07 octy elegance 1.9tdi. The lads from Angel tuning are coming down south to Cork on saturday to do a few jobs including my car. This will be the first stage in the pimping process for my octy. Next on the list will be a retro fit of cruise control and then a possible sat nav. hopefuly these parts can be sourced from ebay etc rather than getting mauled at the skoda dealers here in ireland Any other worthwhile ideas? or have I lost the plot and wasting money. I'd love to go across the water and buy a vrs tdi in the UK but there is the small problem of raising the cash from selling my excellent octy. The 2nd hand car market here has crashed!!
