  1. Picked up my vrs diesel burner today. Turned lots of heads on the way home Now I have to figure out the maxidot thingy!!
  2. Oh and I almost forgot. What should I get the dealer to do before I collect the car(set up etc), besides putting a bit of fuel in it
  3. Two yrs warranty here in the emerald isle. I'm waiting for a call from the dealers. I think it's in!! Race blue 2 litre diesel burner. I'm all excited
  4. +1 to everything you have said. We are getting fleased here. No escape. You guys in the UK are so lucky. Great prices on cars and great roads to boot!!
  5. We pay a lot more for cars in Ireland than you guys in the UK and europe for that matter. Our government load on big taxes for all cars. Then again we do have superb roads :(
  6. Thanks folks. A wealth of information as always.
  7. Excuse my ignorance but do these Iphone apps resemble a standard garmin or tom tom (european mapping)?
  8. Hi folks. This may not be the correct forum but hear goes. Has anyone bought a sat nav app for their Iphone that they san use a a regular sat nav and if so how do you fit the phone into the octavia(bracket)
  9. Me thinks I stetched tarrants to the last, but you never know. Waiting time is approx. 12 weeks even though I don't have it yet!!
  10. Banteer is near Kanturk in Cork. If you take the road from Mallow to killarney turn off left for banteer Tarrants will not be beaten. I bought a 1.9 4yrs ago there and I am awaiting the arrival of my new CR VRS Van Diesel Burner. She's at the docks in emden in the Fatherland awaiting shipment. UK Specs can differ form Irish. Mine is Race blue, 18 inch pegasus (like them, not the 17s but will last as long as I drive motorways only and keep off the other tracks!!) Leather, heated Homework done, cracking car.
  11. Sorry to hear about your missfortune but over here in ireland our potholed roads can be used to breed fish they're so deep. Our councils are also broke, so once a broke alloy always a broke alloy. I'm deading my driving on our roads as i've just ordered a vrs with 18 neptunes!!
  12. You're dead right on their price. They are better than deasy's and much better than Galvin's in Bandon. I'm in Ballincollig
  13. Yes I have priced around and it looks like race blue, leather with heating for the rear end. Looks like i'll be going over the hill and down again to one of the busist dealers in the country. Looks like a super car, but i'll have to keep off the country roads with those 18S
  14. The real capital like yourself!! I must have miss-read the brochure
  15. Hi Folks. I'm thinking of buying a new vrs and i'm wondering if Xenons are fitted as standard in the vrs in Ireland. It says they are standard in the brochure but i'm not sure if this correct.
  16. Try Colin at Angel Tuning. Northern Ireland based but will travel down south.
  17. Here in the emearald isle we get a massive 2 yr warranty!! But then again this country has gone down the tubes!!
  18. Thanks folks, keep them coming I'm bending towards the 18's alright, much better looking than than the 17's Race blue colour and the leather seats with the bum warmers!!
  19. Short commute to work but theres a motorway nearby
  20. Hi Folks. This topic has probably been discussed many times over, but I have finally decided to take the plunge and purchase a 2011 vrs tdi. I live in the emerald isle. I would be interested to find out the pros and cons of this particular model. I hope to purchase the car with the following options, depending on the squeeze I can put on the dealers!! Race blue colour leather seats Standard 17 instead of 18 inch wheels (Irish road susrfaces !!) Are there any other 'must haves'?
  21. Hi lads. I currently own a 07 1.9 tdi elegance with 40,000 miles on the clock. I own it from new and I have had it mapped to approx. 140-145 bhp for 18 months now. This car has been trouble free so far and goes very well with excellent fuel economy. I am now thinking of trading up to a new VRS tdi (love the look of the car and no, it's not the midlife thing!!) but I have a few questions that need answering. 1. Will there be much of a diference in performance with the VRS? 2. Will fuel consumption fall drastically? 3. Are the running costs for the VRS very excessive.? 4. Will the value of the VRS plummet? 5. Is the VRS comfortable (bigger wheels, low profile tyres and road noise)? 6. What toys should I have included if I buy new? 7. Am I missing anything else? The purchase will be infuenced by the price I get for my existing octy, which may be difficult as I live In the Emerald Isle where prices given for second hand cars can be quite miserable.
  22. I had my octy burner(07) done by Angel and i am very happy with it. Approx 40hp and 70 torque. I'm in the south of the emerald isle and they came from the north of the country to do the job. My mate did try to contact them lately to do a superb and golf but he got no reply. I hope they haven't disappeard. My car is going like a train though with the extra torque a real bonus. The fuel economy has stayed the same.
  23. I can definetly do that!! I have no dpf Thanks again folks. You're help is brilliant as always. I'm going to get Castrol edge oil 5w30...507, with oil and air filter and try and find that pollen filter thingy in the front passenger compartment . I do love smoking out the boy racers in their tin cans!!
  24. H Folks. I'm ready to change the oil and filter in my 2007 1.9 octavia tdi. How do I know for sure if the engine has a dpf fitted? What oil will I use in the change as I have heard that there is a diferent oil for engines with a Dpf fitted? Would it also be beneficial to change the air filter? 35k done from new with a sprinkling of dust from Angel Tuning!!
