Inspect Cambelt
My 1.0 litre Karoq with engine code DLAA is coming up to 3 years old now. I know the cambelt has a long life but I would like to inspect it when I service the car later this year. How do I go about inspecting it please without taking half the engine apart? Is there an easy way to do this? Many thanks.

Outrageous Skoda Prices
Just re-checked my figures. The cost of the sump plug was £4.95 + VAT. The cost of the washer was around the same. The total cost on the invoice was £11.40 for what is essentially a bolt and a washer. Totally outrageous

Outrageous Skoda Prices
I have just been to my local Skoda dealer for a sump plug and washer for his 2017 Octavia S. I rang this morning and was told the plug was £4.75 plus VAT. I thought this was a bit pricey but then thought at least it will be the correct part. I also assumed the plug came with the washer. When I went to the dealer to pick it up, the parts chap said it was £11 something. I said no - you told me it was £4.75 plus VAT. He then said the washer was sold separately and was £4.50 plus VAT. I said I was not prepared to pay that for a simple washer. He went away and I had a look around the showroom whilst I was there. He came back with just the sump plug and an invoice for £4.75 plus VAT. I said this is useless without the washer isn't it? He said yes that's right. So I said I don't want it and he walked off. Just how can a dealer justify charging so much for a simple bolt and washer? I'm off to my local car parts shop and will avoid the dealer as much as I can.

'You have been selected...'
I have just received an invitation to a Skoda VIP event at a dealers in the north west. I can have a specific appointment time and a lanyard to show I am a VIP! I have had them before and binned them. What a load of twaddle. Call me a cynic but as far as I am concerned dealers can't shift their cars so invent these events to drum up sales. They are simply marketing ploys that some people fall for. For me, I will replace my car when it suits me provided the deal is acceptable at the time. Walk round the showroom wearing a lanyard to make me feel important indeed! Wouldn't it be better if dealers just reduced their prices to sensible levels to attract customers?

Fuel Gauge Problem
I drove home from London to the North West a few weeks ago. I filled up as I left London. After at least 60 or so miles of motoring, the range left on the display had actually gone up from the figure it was showing in London. I find the gauge anything but accurate but it was the same on the 5 other Skodas I had before the Karoq.

Skoda Finance Redemption
When I bought my Karoq in January 2024, I took out HP but only to get 2 free services. The dealer told me I had to take out a minimum of £2k and not pay it off for at least 6 months. I knew this wasn't correct so contacted Skoda Financial Services. They confirmed I could withdraw from the HP agreement within the first 14 days and keep the 2 free services. This is what I did and have used up 1 of the free services so far without any problem. I paid a few pounds in interest. Don't believe what dealers tell you where money is concerned. Always speak to the people who have no vested interest in your financial arrangements and who should give you correct and proper advice.

The need for an aircon service?
I found out my air con wasn't working a few weeks ago. I had the car in for some other warranty work so they re-gassed the air con system at the same time. The cost was £99 (I think this was some kind of promotion by Skoda). Works fine now. But I do ask myself why I had to pay for a re-gas when the car was under warranty.

Rear Seat Locking Mechanism
A friend has a problem with the rear seat locking mechanism on his Karoq. It is the one on the driver's side (the bigger of the 2 rear seat backs). It locks OK but the little red warning button doesn't go inside the mechanism as it should. You can buy the mechanisms and the fit seems simple enough. But it looks like the back of the rear seat needs to be removed to do the replacement. Does anyone know how to remove the back of the seat without damaging it please? All help appreciated.

Rear Seat Removal
Thank you. What does 'observe the following notes' say please for refitting? That bit is missing. It may not be that important but will be useful to know. Thank you.

Rear Seat Removal
I need to get at the seat belt buckle on the driver's side of the rear seat in my 2022 Karoq. Does anyone know how to remove the seat cushion please and refit it? Thank you.

Skoda Kamiq - £3500 Deposit Contribution PCP - Early Settlement
I would go back to Skoda Financial Services and ask them again. You'll probably speak to someone else in there anyway. Ask for a clear yes or no answer to your question and get the name of the person you spoke to. It worked for me..

Karoq 1.6 desiel automatic a belt replacement
If you write to Skoda customer services and quote your VIN, they will tell you when the cambelt needs changing. I did this when I had my Octavia and Skoda changed the intervals a few years ago.

Skoda Kamiq - £3500 Deposit Contribution PCP - Early Settlement
When i bought my Karoq just over a year ago, I asked the dealer about how long I would have to keep up the HP (which I didn't really want) payments to get 2 free services (which I did want). They told me a minimum of 6 months but I knew they were lying. I phoned Skoda Financial Services who told me I could cancel the agreement within a day or two of taking it out and could keep the free services. This is what I did and I paid a couple of pounds in interest. I appreciate your circumstances are different but the lesson is ask the people who know and not your dealer. They obviously will be worse off in some way so have no incentive to give you correct financial information.

My Skoda - a cautionary tale
Rod. I fully agree with your comments regarding the technology, particularly the data use message. It, and others that I have seen on my car may well have been written in a foreign language as far as I am concerned as they mean absolutely nothing to me. Like you, I just want to get in the car and drive to where I want to go without all of this nonsense.

I looked at two Skodas in a showroom today .... Karoq and Kamiq.
I've had Skodas of one kind or another since 2009 and have always been happy with them. I changed from an Octavia MK3 to a Karoq a year ago. Car was a year old when I bought it. It's a Karoq SE Drive with the 1.0 litre engine. I'm in my seventies now so don't do as much motorway driving as when I was working. That said, the car will easily cruise at 70mph when I do go on the motorway. I find the Karoq an easy car to live with. It's easy to get in and out of and is probably the most comfortable Skoda I have owned. It is big enough (but the boot isn't as big as the Octavia's). Like all modern cars, there's too much technology on it for me but I just use what I need and ignore the rest. I bought a spacesaver spare wheel as those gunge kits are a waste of time in my view. In short, it does the job for me and I am happy with the purchase. The problem with asking about different models of car is you will get loads of different answers and opinions. For me, I'd stick with what I know and feel comfortable with and would keep well away from the £40k road tax threshold. That's far too much to pay for any car in my opinion.

Aero Wheel Covers
I did the same with the aero wheel covers on my Karoq. I picked the car up in January 2024 when it was a year old with around 6,000 miles on the clock. The alloys were filthy and needed a good clean off the car. Luckily they were unmarked. Whoever in Skoda designed these wheel covers has never had to clean his own wheels and needs shooting. They are anything but practical and cover what is a nice alloy although there are far too many nooks and crannies on the alloys to clean and keep them looking good. A bit of common sense at the design stage and the needs of the user would go down well.

Delete Old Destinations on Sat Nav
I can't delete old destinations from the Sat Nav. Looking on this forum, it says you touch the destination you want to delete and swipe it to the left. A delete bin then appears and you click on this to do the deletion. The trouble is that when I touch the old destination, the sat nav thinks I want to go there and displays the route. Am I doing something wrong? Better still, is there another simpler way to delete the old destinations? Thanks.

Bonnet Silencer ?
I think the clips just push into the holes around the edge of the bonnet, holding the sound deadening in place. If you have lost any clips, you can get them from your Skoda or VW dealer but they may need to order them in.

Juddering DQ200 DSG / 1.5TSi
I had judder in first gear on a new Fabia DSG with dry clutch a few years ago. The dealer dismissed it initially as 'they all do that' but I persevered and took it back whilst it was still under warranty. The afrersales manager drove the car with me in the passenger seat and agreed it wasn't right. He said it was either the clutch pack or the mechatronics unit. They replaced the clutch pack under warranty which fixed the problem. If it were me, I would take the car back to your main dealer and get them to drive it themselves with you in it whilst you still have warranty.

Correct Rear Wiper for Karoq Sportline 2023
I wish I had read this thread before ordering a rear wiper blade for my 2022 Karoq. The vast majority of on line sellers state the A 331H is the correct wiper but it is not. I ordered this and managed to get a refund from the seller but with some difficulty. I then went into my local independent motor factors who looked things up on their computer. They pulled off a picture of the correct blade (A335H) and checked it against the wiper fitted by Skoda. It is an exact fit and is much improved on the OEM part. So A335H is the correct wiper from around mid to late 2021 which is when the car was facelifted I believe. Part of the problem is that sellers quote a part number but show a picture of a different part. No wonder we all get confused.

A Pillar Trim Removal
I have broken the parking ticket holder on my 2022 Karoq. I know it is screwed in behind the A pillar trim but don't want to chance breaking the trim when removing it without some knowledge of how it comes off. Does anyone know how to safely remove and re-fit the trim piece without damaging it and anything else into the bargain? Thank you.

Rear Tailgate Trim. Removal
I fitted front and rear dashcams to my Karoq recently. Didn't need to remove the trim as I just pushed the cable into the roof lining at the rear. You probably need to pull the liner out of the rear door seal a little to get access. Should be simple enough though.

Skoda karoq seat panel
Looks like you are missing the aero wheel trims as well. They come as standard but are not to everyone's tastes. I took them off my 2022 Karoq so the wheels look like yours in the picture. Maybe the previous owner removed them and didn't offer them back when they traded in.

Changing Brake Pads
My son has a December 2017 Octavia S. We are looking at changing the front and rear brake pads. Can we simply wind the existing pads back into the brake caliper or do we need special software to wind them back electronically? Thank you.
