  1. I tried that but as mine was registered Sep 2004 it only came with a 10 year warranty and also, even though the paint is bubbling away, it's a perforation warranty and it's not perforated yet.
  2. Looking at my car I would say no. The sills are starting to rust, the hatch has some slight bubbling and the front wheel arches are bubbling up. My old Mk1 looked much better at the same age.
  3. If you unlock with the key you have around 15 seconds to turn on the ignition to prevent the alarm going off. At least that's what my manual says, I've not tried it out.
  4. The siren has it's own battery I believe which I'm sure it's mentioned somewhere should be changed every 6 years. Mine never has as far as I know and still works. Not sure if the battery is part of the siren and has to be ordered as a complete unit or if just the battery can be changed.
  5. Mine has been like that for the past 100,000 miles or so.
  6. I went from a 360 to a PS4 and the main reason was the wife got it for me. Free online gaming and another blue ray player are a bonus. The only reason I went from a PS2 and an Xbox to just an Xbox 360 was my love of Halo. That love has ended so now I'm quite happy with the PS4. I now get to play Gran Tourismo again! There isn't much to choose from in my mind other than some games are only available on one platform.
  7. I can't get on ebay on works computer (blocked site) but I'm sure someone will be able to confirm.
  8. No, it wasn't meant to be. It is a light in the mirror which illuminates the floor when you open the door. Mine only has the indicator in the mirror where some have a combined indicator repeater and puddle light. I have laser projectors in the door cards which light up the floor with a Skoda logo.
  9. I believe that when you open the door it shines down onto the floor from the mirror to show you the puddle your about to step in. I don't have them, I just get wet shoes and know it must have been a puddle i stepped in. I do have the very chav laser door lights which shine a nice Skoda logo onto the floor for me.
  10. They offered me £50 for my Scenic. They did point out they would waive the £49.99 admin fee. They can be generous like that. They offered £300 for my Octy1 which I sold within a day on eBay for £900. It went that quick and had so many calls I knew I had obviously under priced it.
  11. Done 600 miles now and got the exhaust control system light on, no loss of power as before, in fact, no noticeable difference at all. Came on after a little 'Italian Tune Up'.
  12. It's probably too early to tell but after 200 miles with Shell V-Power Nitro +, it's not happened on mine again other than when I started it up at the petrol station and went onto the duel carriageway. Pulled over at the next exit, turned it off and on again and then trouble free the rest of the journey. I have noticed a slight drop in mpg but that was probably me trying to get the fault to happen.
  13. IIRC the plug is attached to the underside of the centre console in a plastic clip.
  14. Any news yet? Mine is doing similar to what you describe.
  15. I didn't find it easy to get out when I had the centre console out of the car. The green bit holds the inner metal part with small plastic 'pins'. I found it a bit easier with the bulb holder removed from the side. The hole it goes in has a flat section so they only fit one way. You could just try bending the side contacts inwards a little to see if it will grip again. Careful not to short it out as it's always live not switched with the ignition.
  16. I had a 1.9 tdi GLX which had reasonable spec and is still going now with over 190,000 on the clock (not mine anymore though). When I sold it in 2011 I knew I'd underpriced it at £900 as the phone didn't stop ringing! That only had 90bhp and returned about 55mpg. It didn't have any problems while I had it apart from its electric windows. Seemed to be replacing the plastic clips at regular intervals. I sold it with 155,000 on the clock and still had all the original major components less the window regulators, and one shock absorber. Obviously it had the usual oil changes, brake pads/discs and cam belt changes but was still on it original exhaust, clutch etc. Best car I've ever had.
  17. My Mk 2 has got 166,000 on it and just started to have a lack of boost on occasions but generally running well (BJB engine no DPF). I still don't think it's as good as the Mk1 I had though. Both cars had/have been well maintained all their life and I think it's my current obsession with getting the maximum possible MPG from it that is causing the boost issue. I have a nice 165 mile trip tomorrow and just fuelled up with some V-Power Nitro + as a cheap way (clutching at straws) to solve my problem. Thinking it may be sticky turbo vanes. The Mk1 use to get around 55mpg and the Mk2 is currently returning a 65mpg average (or 73mpg according to the very optimistic trip computer).
  18. My Mk1 that I sold is still around. According to a quick check it had 190,925 miles at last MOT and is due again on the 25th of this month. Advisory notice item(s) at last MOT: offside sill seam damaged nearside front Shock absorber has a light misting of oil (2.7.3) nearside front Brake hose slightly deteriorated (3.6.B.4d) The sill wasn't damaged when I sold it and I'm sure it was the N/S/F shock I had to change one year. Got the part from Skoda as it was the cheapest place at the time. Maybe they eat N/S/F shock absorbers at the rate of one every 9 years/95,000 miles..... Probably only another 100,000 left in the car to be honest. Wish I had never had to get rid of it really as it was a very good car.
  19. My car has had two new tanks now as a mouse took a liking to the plastic for some reason. Apparently it is a nice warm place to sit on top of and make a nest due to the warm fuel that's returned to the tank. The second tank was made less comfortable for the mouse. This thread covers it well http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/343542-diesel-leak-when-filling-car/?fromsearch=1
  20. If using a catch can as is advised, you don't need the bung as the return from the catch can will go back to the inlet.
  21. You need 19mm or 3/4" hose (a washing machine waste pipe fitted mine perfectly putting the rubber end of it onto the PCV) and a 19mm or 3/4" internal diameter bung for the hole left in the inlet.
  22. I did a true budget version on my Octy 1 and used a washing machine waste pipe I cut off an old machine at the tip. Used a chair leg rubber (also from the tip) to bung up inlet which also fitted perfectly. Total cost £0.
  23. I felt I had to tell them my mileage had doubled, it's not hard for them to see how many I do a year. Happy it got me a reduction though which was the opposite to what I thought would happen.
  24. I like the idea of the Multimac seat but didn't find that site until I had bought the Scenic. They are expensive at over £1,600 with all the bits I'd want but the Scenic cost £3,500 and is rubbish compared to my old Octy1. I couldn't afford two cars so the Octy went. My son and daughter are tall enough to not require boosters but with my son, in the Octy2, the seatbelt goes across his neck. The Scenic is even worse as the rear seat belt mounting point is even higher up and it nearly goes across his cheek! The law may say he can travel without a booster seat but the parent in me makes him have one.
  25. They look better in some peoples opinion (including mine), less red. They look like this one... http://www.aliexpress.com/item/VW-Genuine-OE-Hazard-Light-Switch-Alarm-For-SKODA-OCTAVIA-1Z-2004-2014/2002998392.html
