  1. Hello & welcome along. I felt compelled to do this as my post count was on "666" not that I am at all superstitious......
  2. I will never understand people who .........wear flippin sunglasses indoors....or on their head as a bloomin Alice band thingy for ages & ages cos it makes them look trendy dunnit. ....and relax...
  3. The Rapid Spaceback ad was on tv again yesterday.......is it really the same car that you can buy in the local Skoda showroom....?

No specification may vary. Looks raw without the tip top trims.

  4. "California Breed"...Glenn , Jason & some kid who can play a bit..!

  5. Hi Kyle, Not really answering your question but I owned a VW Bora sport with the 150 engine for 3 years from new. It remains one of my favourite ever cars, quick enough; comfortable and really reliable (the only visits to the dealer were for servicing). The " wood effect" dash is not too all tastes though ! at the time I also specced "sports" suspension so that could be something to look out for........? It was a bit smokey when you hoof it & for some reason I chose an odd mettallic gold colour  ...otherwise a great car. Good luck in your search.
  6. Seldom can a Ham, Cheese & Pickle sandwich been so anticipated....

  7. My elderly neighbour has been in the process of buying a new supermini size car for months. During that time he has sought out my opinion on just about every single make/model that fits his remit. We have run through the various merits of Fabias, Polos, Fiestas, Corsas, Rio, etc etc etc. .......and yesterday I am informed that he has a new.............. Mitsubishi Mirage arriving next week, just about the only one that has never cropped up. Anyone interested in a review....?? !!
  8. Sneaky old supermarket petrol stations...slip in a quick price hike & then announce a cut....! They are clearly far too clever for us lot ?

  9. Thanks all for taking the time to reply. As always, much appreciated.
  10. My wife has just taken delivery of a new Ford Fiesta, her model comes with (what appear to me...anyway...) hard to clean 15 spoke alloy wheels. As I would obviously like to keep them in as good condition as possible ...is there anything I should be doing now when the car is new & are there any expert tips/advice that will help me maintain them...? A lady down the road has a VW Up with even more intricate spokey wheel design and these are already looking pretty sad and spoiling the overall look of the car. Any advice welcome thanks.
  11. Just sent a "contact studio" message to my local radio station which the presenter read on air immediately............I sound like a complete and utter knob...

  12. Welcome along... .........and you would be surprised what we find interesting on here............a bagpipe playing greyhound rescuing tree surgeon (temp) is not the oddest combination by some way.......!
  13. Anybody "getting away from it all" for half term..? Big silver bird looks pretty appealing right now..!

  14. I was keen to give them my custom a couple of years ago, very pleasant & called back promptly..however they were precisely double my current insurer. Of course, they may have become more competetive recently ?
  15. I think the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross is a possible Yeti alternative...but boy does it look like the designers completely forgot about the front end until it was rolling down the production line..!

  16. My wife is awaiting delivery of a new Ford Fiesta with the Ecoboost 125 bhp (ish) engine so I will contribute constructively when we have some more experience. However, the 100 bhp version we tried was a bit of an eye opener ...so looking forward to it certainly.
  17. Still fitting nicely into my "San Marino Grand Prix 1997" T shirt, not too shabby...although the odd "Winnie the Pooh" has been heard from the nearest & dearest ..!

  18. I owned a Nissan Cherry ZX turbo......stop laughing,..it was a bit scary. Silver with a black bottom and "Turbo" in orange. The spoiler fell off. It terrified my workmates and was swopped so that my dear wife could have a Mini. Would I nominate it as an 80's hot hatch icon...probably not...but this thread has made me remember it....."fondly".
  19. Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. As I "feared" it is pretty obvious really when you know !
  20. Now I know this is a really stupid question; and as there are a few experts on here you have probably fell off your chair guffawing but........ If your dash cam does not have a built in screen how do you set it up correctly and ensure it is recording exactly what you want it too..? Please be gentle with me................ta !
  21. Just my opinions of course: What Car: How do they get away with £4.99 for about 100 "new" pages only; every month...! Autocar: If it ain't BMW there are not interested. Car: As above but glossier and boy do they love themselves..! Evo: Irrelevant unless you are a supercar owner or really really must read about them. Top Gear: Haven't read it for years....is it still for kids...? Auto Express: OK for news items, takes about 30 mins to read. ...and that is about the extent of my knowledge on "modern" car mags..... I enjoy reading Classic Cars myself but appreciate that it may not be of interest to all..oh & you do have to enjoy a lot of Quentin Wilson on a monthly basis.
  22. Currently experiencing 4 seasons in one day.....there is certainly some strange weather around at the moment..

  23. I was at probably the very first meeting when this type of kit was mooted for use with gas appliances... To clarify, I am no IT guru; but held a vital clipboard holding position ! The sales pitch was.... " Imagine flying back from your hols in sunny locales...you get off the plane , its really cold so.... hey presto I can turn on my boiler from here....!" We all guffawed loudly and moved on to the next agenda item. How times have changed in a few years..!
  24. We are shopping for a replacement for SWMBO's Fiesta, the salesman at our local Ford dealer mentioned 8 times..... that he could knock an extra

  25. I had a new Alfa 146ti as a company car back in the day....kept it for 12 months (we changed our cars annually) & did 30,000 + trouble free miles...loved it but oddly have never been back to the marque since.
