*FREE* 4 Tickets to Renault World Series
Beretta replied to TriggerFish's topic in Non Automotive Items
I also have two spare tickets for this event, if anyone wants them, just let me know and I will gladly post them. Now gone................................ -
http://performance-suspension.eibach.de/cms/products_products_suspension_systems_pro_system Rather than let this drop to a slagging match, perhaps you can look for yourself at Eibach's latest up to date site and see for yourself if you can find a specific spring for the Mk1 Octy vRS? or

Click on the link in my sig to see that red does not always fade if you look after the paintwork with a decent polish.

Was at Castle Coombe last year, but not on the Brisky stand.

Castle Combe Summer Action Day! 11.09.10. our OWN TRACK session!

Yes, make sure Angie bakes another chocolate cake and saves me some...........................................LOL -
Click on the link in my sig, see the mods to my old Octy vRS add up the cost, and ask yourself one question, Is it worth it?????

Might be an idea to change the springs asap, as Eibach "DO NOT" make a specific spring for the Mk1 Octy vRS, and those as fitted will not be the correct poundage for the car. This has been discussed time and time again, and even tuners such as Awesome have confirmed it, as did Eibach themselves when I contacted them.
-
They are a great little car, "ER" indoors loves hers, its a 2000, "W" reg 1.3 collection, with a genuine 21,500 recorded miles from new, starts first time every time, no rust and apart from a broken front coil spring, and routine servicing, has not cost a penny to run. Tappets, so no cam belts to break or need replacing, great to drive around town and do not disgrace themselves on the motorway up to reasonable speeds.

How many Octavia vRS owners on this site???
Beretta replied to WrightyRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I bet if this list was updated to show how many now still have a Octy vRS, it would shrink by quite a bit?????? -
The RED DEVIL is about to rise again, faster than before, was fishing with Des in the week, and I think he is going to get in touch with you soon. I know how you feel about your car being written off, I had the same, owned it for over seven years, sold it, and it was wrecked within a short time by the new owner, so another RIP.
-
Funky, Yes that was the one, Andyrew bought it off Des after you sold it to him, he did a GT 28 conversion etc, and then letting a mate of his drive it in the rain , it had a difference of opinion with a tree, the tree won, and the car was broken and sold as parts by Andyrew, so its RIP for the black one.

Same as Mark above, just click on the link in my signature to see my old one.

Bad eggy smell engine shudder
Beretta replied to jonnymk1vrs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I had this when I had a coil pack go down, common problem with the Mk 1 Octy vRS. If it turns out to be the cat converter that is defective, then I have one that came off my old Mk 1 Octy vRS at 25K miles and is in perfect condition if your stuck. -
Pretty looking? I suppose its a bit like having the outside of the inlet manifolds and cam cover polished, but hey who looks under the bonnet all the time at things nobody sees and that do nothing?............................ Mark, could not resist it , but there again you know that everything on my old Octy vRS worked for a living, especially on the M25.........
-
I think the Eibach one may be a tube, but having fitted the Neuspeed one to both mine and Andyrews car, I can assure you they are solid bars, and worth every penny.
-
The Neuspeed rear ARB "IS" a solid bar and not a tube, and being solid is what makes it so good ........................
-
The Mk1 Octy vRS never had a rear ARB fitted as standard, and the rear beam is nothing to do with the ARB. The Neuspeed may be double the price, but you get what you pay for, and mine never ever rusted, unlike some, and yes, the Neuspeed 24mm would be ok for what you need. Get the best one you can afford and don't skimp, as they really do trasform the handling of the car. If your "ER" indoors thinks that £60 is ok to spend, then get the dearer one, and print a receipt on your PC for £60..... As for fitting, easy peasy, even in the street with ramps and a bottle jack.
-
What standard one, there is not one fitted as standard?? I had the Neuspeed 28mm adjustable one on my old Octy vRS and they totally transform the handling of the car

Police now use lorries to keep an eye lorry drivers
Beretta replied to matt_theforce's topic in General Automotive Chat
Lets just hope they use them to target the large number of foreign/continental lorry drivers that cause most of the accidents on our motorway systems. The officer driving is often seen on the television programmes that feature the police, and he has a passion for stopping lorry drivers. -
Click on the link in my signature and see what you have to spend to get a KO3s anywhere near the true figure of 240bhp. When on song my old Octy vRS would run a true 238bhp and 250 lb ft torque, and has run 233+bhp on numerous rollers, but never ever 240bhp. If you want an honest opinion based on seven years of Mk1 Octy vRS ownership, dont waste your money, just set the car up properly with brakes, rear arb and suspension, you will then realise its a quick handling car, and save yourself a load of ££££££££££££££'s. On reflection its what I should have done and saved a load of ££££, but..........................................

Octavia Upper Strut Brace (eBaY link inside)
Beretta replied to vRShafz's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
If fitted with the bottom brace, the top brace is not just for show, it completes what then becomes a square, as without it, its just a three sided set up that still allows the top stuts to flex. Word of warning though, have a front side shunt with the braces fitted and the impact is also transferred across the car to the other side of the car. Saw this when the new owner of my old Octy vRS had a shunt. -
Where to buy all the parts for a timing belt change?
Beretta replied to sake-bito's topic in General Maintenance
No, they upgraded the plastic ones to a better grade plastic, so there would not be any more problems..... -
Where to buy all the parts for a timing belt change?
Beretta replied to sake-bito's topic in General Maintenance
Skoda upgraded the plastic/abs impellors on the water pumps, so I think the earlier problem of breakage has now gone, I always used the genuine Skoda ones without any problem at all. The best place to get the belt, tensioner, water pump etc is a genuine Skoda dealer, I always used genuine parts without any faults. I know your north of the border, but don't skimp......
