What’s the best mobile scanner and dongle for these cars as my VCDS seems to be not compatible with anything maybe later than 2019 me thinks as the person I bought it off told me. When I scanned the car at the dealership it did read some stuff but kept saying something about software or interface not compatible ?

Finance - 2nd year warranty. Want to buy in cash
Yep customer services told me I can cancel 14 day cool off before I got to dealer and so did salesman at dealer. It’s in paperwork regards cancelling agreement. Both of these also said you retain the benefits you got offered still ie warranty etc.

Finance - 2nd year warranty. Want to buy in cash
I was encouraged by the sales person to buy and cancel the PCP to get 2 years warranty +XYZ and pay <14 days interest at £6 a day. Well worth it to do that if you ask me. Thats going to be my plan now.

It’s got the reverse camera with lines. And traffic sign recognition. No seats down from the boot Is there a variable boot floor available, on these? Few things being sorted. New windscreen non genuine replaced and coded in. Paint touch ups. Wheels refurbed. Second umbrella supplied. Replaced drivers mat. Touch up pen supplied, wheel centre caps replaced. 2 year warranty's etc etc used approved extras with cancelable finance. The stitching on the drivers leather needs attention they won’t do this. Need someone around the midlands to look at that Was oil serviced. AC serviced/refreshed. Front disks and pads and 2 new rear tyres. Wipers replaced. Key fob batteries replaced. Brake fluid replaced. Have to wait to collect once ready price also reduced to 24k from 25k must be a timing thing.

Finance - 2nd year warranty. Want to buy in cash
Does anyone know if this finance thing is worth it to get 2 years warranty etc on a 3 year approved used Skoda what would I need to agree on a 25k car in terms so I could pay it off quickly with least interest as I have money anyway just wanted a longer warranty or will I get option to add another year warranty at a cost when approved used one ends in Mar 27?

Thanks, Yep they went long life,I think the computer tells you based on oil condition around 18k anyway, right? I will have to see to the DSG myself if I get it. Spec wise it’s an L&K, I wanted that. With stuff I do and don’t want. No sunroof or tow bar. It does have all standard L&K stuff not sure what’s extra is a reverse camera extra anymore? , it has that and 18” wheels thankfully It’s an estate if I didn’t say. The boot has no side rails and is lower than boot lip my mk2 has side rails and dividing frame, was that an option on mk3?

Thank you very much for this info What I discovered from the printed history April 23 car nearly 3 years old soon. At 46k and the one owner done about 15k a year on long life regime, any concerns? June 24 18k oil and inspection service July 25 34k oil and inspection inc Haldex 4x4 service and pollen filter March 26 46k oil and inspection. Brake fluid change Recommending spark plugs and Haldex in April 2027 I thought it was mileage based ? DSG they saying dec 27 again I thought it was miles based? I can’t see a dealer doing the DSG free as it’s not due in their eyes until 80k as we know Going to see it Monday anything else I need to be aware of what do you think of this. I don’t mind some opinions?

I may have finally found one in a blue an estate 2022 280 L&K with 47k. Anything I should be looking out for and insisting is done before handing over my money. My concern is the DCC shocks always mist up before failing and dealers won’t replace on misting knowing they are going to fail anytime soon? Spark plug should they be done officially and personally. Same with the DSG it’s 70k but people still suggest 40k on the 7 speed. I do wonder how to get 2 years warranty etc rather than 1 year offered by doing the whole finance thing and paying off within a month if it will works. Advice welcomed on the above

Heavy steering
My TDI superb is very heavy but our petrol Leon is very light. I would say it’s normal for me.

Octavia mk2 unstable swerving left to right at 60MPH+
Not an expert but is the rolling radius the same from old to new wheels, plus the offset how much they stick in or out of arches, maybe upset the handling?
-
New wheels
Did Skoda make a Vega alloy for Superb as I have only come across 16” Vega from a 2005 Octy. I did try mine on my S2 and the arches look very sorry as they sit more into the arches. If you want to make a switch 17” seems the best compromise size vs looks. Plus you can add a little more sidewall to those than factory for comfort/looks

New wheels
The risk is condition of those wheels and of course bead seal given age of purchased wheel.

New wheels
The issue with most VAG wheels after certain number of years the bead seal goes and you lose air. Have you thought of having your wheels powered coated grey?

Didn’t the 1.8 have oil consumption issues ?

Bonnet catches hard to unlatch using under bonnet lever common.

Sticky Gearchange
Start at the gearbox with the linkage. I did a thread on this when I had issues on my 2005 octy. Cleaned the part where the gear stick cables connect. Removed the device whose name I still forget from the gearbox, clean lubricate the shaft. Reinstall see how it goes. Never did an oil change in over 260k on my gearbox. My issue was selecting 5th and maybe one other gear. The give away was the gear stick would never centre quickly. Just slowly or not at all. Something similar in fabia selecting first sometimes. Same procedure helped

Turbo lifespan (buying my first Skoda)
Not personally into mark3 some things in my opinion. Annual or max 10k oil changes whichever came first. Manual gearbox some might say less risky than DSG auto. Check clutch okay on drive. Turbo depends on life it’s had and servicing all have influence, listen out for police siren whistling I am not sure if this car affected but the Golf GTD of similar era had what some class as high oil consumption. No mention of fuel filter and brake fluid changes. This car might have ad-blue they have been known to cause issues in general, plus inconvenience of refilling wherever they hid the filler cap Mileage although a little high, buy on condition. If you don’t really need a vRS get a 2lt 150bhp TDI they seem well respected. MOT history is really good IMO This car was up for sale somewhere with 118k for 7.5k April 2025. Held its value well.

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
Not doing too bad if that’s all that came up on the MOT. Suppose you have other non MOT challenges to be dealt with. Still a keeper this one.

Whats it worth?
No expert but it’s worth what someone willing to pay. It’s easily over 5-6k IMO

Replace handbrake cable
You found one of the best guides out there. It’s a real pain to replace plus one of my cable guide tubes was broken. That was really hard to replace.
