  1. I replaced the EGR at a VAG specialist and I also had to replace the turbo. I drove on it after it went into limp mode quite a few miles. Cost about to £1700 to change both. I believe the EGR alone is about £700
  2. Some owners say it affected the drivability and maybe consumption of the car post fix. Some also say the car is performing DPF regens more often. That said I have a 2011 170CR superb and the EGR went without the fix being applied.
  3. The DPF has a life depends how it’s been driven. Also the EGR valve can go with out without the emissions fix. Regular oil and filter changes annually or 10k ideal.
  4. That’s a lovely motor. Yeah the L&K spec is very tempting. Plus you added some of the Sportline bits nicely. Just for me it’s a dark interior all the way. Black or even that brown one would sway me. If one came up the same as yours I would be tempted. Age would bring the price down also.
  5. I had set my heart on a sunroof, but hearing the horror stories I don’t want the hassle even if I don’t keep the car long. SWMBO has specifically asked for one on her next used car. So I may just take the punt on one of the family cars. advice appreciated. Feels like it’s going to be a very long search as these cars don’t come up in the price range much. I am swayed to a main dealer with proper warranty for 1-2 years for peace of mind also.
  6. Looks like a repair has been performed to a wire before. But based on symptoms I also experienced it’s likely the wires IMHO. You can repair the loom. Replace with a new official loom. Or get one of the repair lots off eBay. It replaces the pillar connector. Runs into the door itself and allows connection of every cable with plenty of slack as working in the door pillar inside that cover is tight. Have a good search on here, plenty write ups.
  7. You are putting me off the sunroof. I love the idea of one. Not had one since I had my Fabia which was retro fitted as a pop up glass one when I got it. I really don’t want leaks or problems especially when the stealers won’t be interested even if in warranty.
  8. So the 272 is more frugal than the 280? Are we talking pops and farts of a Golf R or noise without the fake noise Soundaktor thing, on the 280?
  9. I had my old faithful out recently to use the only working copy of VCDS I have. XP os. The battery is stuffed like most of my old kit., so needs constant power. Just for nostalgic purposes a picture. If anyone wants any of this old kit. I have a few n600/610c models if parts required.
  10. Some interesting facts I didn’t know. So the GPF is standard on all 272 models even a 2018/19? Is this something more to go wrong like a diesel DPF? I did forget to mention Apple car play would be nice, is this standard now ? Given estate/combi models are rare I settled on a hatch also.
  11. Long time member currently own a 260k mile Octy 2 1.9TDI manual and 150k S2 170 TDI DSG Elegance combi with L&K extras. Been looking for a while at something special and noticed a few cars come and go. Prices in general are really strong. Have followed the S3 forum for a while to get a feel of things. Memory does not serve so looking for advice. What’s the difference between the 272 and 280 except the obvious 8 horses? Does one have 7 speed vs 6 speed DSG? A 220 would be plenty for me but they are quite rare, plus I like the idea of a sleeper. I know this has likely been done to death Sportline or L&K, personally I like the look of the Sportline but some of the L&K toys? Things I personally do want Canton from people on here is a must Heated front screen, have one now DCC again from people on here, plenty to go wrong also though? I love the twin rear chrome tailpipes look of the Sportline Like the idea of a sunroof, just no leaks etc. I don’t do big miles anymore so can take the hit if I need to drive 200 miles once or twice a month, plus can use one of the existing diesels, because one will go. I have seen a grey 272 lurking on the trader, oddly it’s hanging around not sure why, it’s a nice spec maybe an ex demo. Any advice any issues to look for? I can see we have some expert members on here. Apologies didn’t leave anyone out on purpose and if I shout the wrong member out. @ColinD master of all things Brisky, did you ever make the plunge? @Esseesse200 @shyvrs245 I can’t tag you for some reason @Superb170 Thanks in advance all
  12. Maybe you need to check the loom in that rear door to make sure that has not suffered the same fate, don’t rule out the front door still as it controls the rears and others from the drivers door. Maybe take the door card off and check electrics are reaching the door controller before assuming it’s that again ?
  13. That one looks different to my one on the Octavia. The superb has a cloth jacket as opposed to plastic. The Octavia one separates mid way half way down the battery on both sides. The 096/100 are quite large batteries and they fit nice and snug with the casing/covering. 278x175mm approx I think will fit here but I am pre-fl octy. There are plenty of posts on this here I’m sure.
  14. Fitting is simple. You need a 8 or 10 mm spanner for the nuts on the battery posts. And I think a 13mm long reach socket for the battery securing bolt and plate. About halfway across the width of the battery down the gap to the left of the battery in your picture. When removing the battery the plastic casing can be unclipped as it’s in 2 parts. I have not had to do that myself as i did a swap on my Octavia 2 yesterday for a used battery to tide me over. Sometimes when lifting the old battery out, it catches in the wing end so you need to angle it a little or slide it left towards the engine just to get it to clear the retainer in the battery tray(best explanation I could think of ) The warning lights will all extinguish except the steering light until you actually drive to extinguish that one. You will lose the miles since last fill on the dash. Radios not usually an issue as coded to the car. This is all from my experience on Octy 2005 and Superb 2011.
  15. The biggest one to fit in an Octavia 2 is type 096 or type 100. Diesel especially get the largest capacity AH and CCA, you can such as below. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171524178659?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=skXrc9TbReq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=45o-tdWCRea&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I have purchased one recently from them for my S2 and used ABS batteries before. I also got a discount against the auction of about £6 bringing cost down to about £75 delivered. At the moment next day delivery would be Tuesday/Wednesday. Tanya batteries is also a forum favourite they have a dedicated website plus eBay listings for things like a Varta E44 if you want a branded product. Think they deliver even on Saturdays. Please double check.
  16. If you are getting vibration through cabin could be dual mass flywheel. Have you ever had a clutch and flywheel changed?
  17. How far down did you have to pull the bellows back to find this issue? Did you essentially have a dead drivers door no electronics whatsoever? Did you need to remove the door card ?
  18. Plus one for DSG stat. Plenty of write ups on the s2 forum. Plus part numbers.
  19. Are you not able to have said panel repaired? there are about 3 eBay auction tailgates for sale. Watch for the corrosion around the number plate lights
  20. That’s a petrol 1.8T, usually only see a diesel with that kind of miles
  21. Isn’t there a known problem fitting a non factory radio to anything pre 2007, will drain the battery or was that only when fitting a Columbus. A newer version of a component needed to be installed to prevent this. I forget the name of it. The OP has a 2005 car.
  22. I did not get this unfortunately, was beaten to it. Hopefully went to a good home.
  23. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165790829143?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=XHGDQlaMSRi&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=45o-tdWCRea&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY From a quick search warranty and all so you may get replacements if less than 3 years use ?
