  1. Paint takes a fair bit of work to get it properly machine polished and refined (3-stage) and I did use some rather expensive Wax on top as a treat to myself (£800 a pot) - Usually reserved for paying customers but thought I'd use it on my own for once haha. I know what you mean but I lost a plastic one and found these for about £3 on Ebay so thought they'd finish the wheels off nicely.
  2. Thanks, that's what I wanted - I like the look of them on Coilovers but it's just not practical for me. The ride is really good and yeah I just changed the springs!
  3. Thanks guys - I still smile when i look at the car now, so pleased with how it looks compared to when I got it! The colour of the wheels is an odd one, they're powdercoated but I believe they're done Black, and then a light misting of silver sprayed over the top
  4. There's a lot of Tar spots on those wheels, I can't really see anything to suggest they should be replaced by a Dealer.... If they had cracked or corroded like the BBS wheels did on the 25th Anni Golf's I would agree but they just look properly dirty to me with a couple of stone chips unfortunately.
  5. Thanks Wardy, really pleased with the colour I went for with the wheels, I think they suit it perfectly! The paint took a bit more work to get right but it's looking better then ever now, this Race Blue is such a great colour when prepared and waxed properly... Last night I popped to the Petrol Station and couldn't help but smile as I walked back out to see it there under the bright lights, it really stood out and almost looked like it was glowing.
  6. Sounds like common DPF related problems on the PD engine, have you had the injectors changed yet too?? My 2008 Leon FR TDI did this for a while, usually during a DPF Re-gen but not always, would almost feel like it was holding back, then it would suddenly go and cut again.... It's since been to Seat and had all new injectors and so far so good!
  7. I can't comment on the KW's but the ride on the Octavia is not massively different - Honestly it rides lovely, tiny bit firmer to be expected but not crashy, or too hard that it feels uncomfortable or strange... I was told Eibach did a lot of work with a VRS estate as they used one themselves to test various rates and a lot went into the set-up so not sure exactly what the truth is but I'm really happy I went for it. Haha thanks, just Meguiars Endurance Gel though so no paint! I use the same applicator all the time on all cars I do so it's pretty loaded up with product but I really like the glossy finish. Ahh sorry to hear you had yours taken, I am a bit concious that may happen but they were only £3 on Ebay, take a look as the guy had loads!
  8. Took the opportunity to give the car some TLC this afternoon and thought I'd get some pics of it since it's been lowered with the Eibach pro kit. Also fitted new VW nut covers and some Skoda valve caps just to finish it off. Certainly sits a lot better, not stupidly low but enough to just improve the looks more than anything although it also handles really nice now, slightly firmer ride but not uncomfortable! Here she is anyway...
  9. Having upgraded to the Eibach Pro Spring kit, I've got my standard VRS springs if there of use to anyone? The car has done 40k miles so they've not had a lot of use and cleaned up nice. Sensible offers, collection preferred due to the weight. (Based in Newbury, Berks). Thanks
  10. Not sure if it helps but I've just put the Eibach Pro Kit springs on my VRS Estate and it's absolutely transformed the ride, obviously the Dampers are important but just sitting that bit lower and stiffer has made it such a nice drive, highly recommended as a cheap / easy modification to the standard setup.
  11. Just emailed you Matt (Nick from Detail my car) Thanks!
  12. They're a rep of the Rotiforms looking at that pic, i love the originals when polished up though: I can imagine they'd look good on the Octavia too but just not sure on White... Interested to see it when it's done though. As for Red Cars, almost anything works:
  13. The 20's look good, but think they'd look good in any colour ;-) The thing with White is it can just look a bit plastic.... On a rally inspired car (Evo, RS, Impreza) they can look great, but you have to be careful I think... Best bet is to go for something you won't quickly get bored of or not so "out there" that you get sick of the sight of them either (Think Yellow or Bright green cars) Saying that the White Octavia with the Green centred splits looks amazing and Green wheels don't usually crop up outside of Ken Blocks Fiesta
  14. Haha, you say it's been done to death but there's a good reason for that.... Gloss Black is the one I've got bored of seeing, especially on White Vauxhalls! White wheels will look ok, not sure on a blue Octavia to be honest but on the right car they look good but that's usually Jap cars or Mini's to me.... As you say though, biggest problem is keeping them clean as they HAVE to be be clean all the time to look good in my opinion
  15. I'm pretty happy with how mine came out, had them all refurbed and powdercoated in a sort of metallic grey colour... They're all gloss black on the inside and I believe the way they get the finish is to spray the wheels completely black and then just dust the faces with silver so they have a black backing which gives this metallic sort of finish... Here's the pics anyway but this was done locally at a place called Headley Bodyshop for £50 per wheel!
  16. Hmm can't say that it looks like it's been lowered to be honest.... This is a similar pic to yours, with my standard wheels on (18's) and the arch gap looks about the same as yours??
  17. Sounds like it's definitely been lowered, surely you can tell looking at it? Mine sits pretty high and I can't imagine it bottoming out on anything to be honest.... Only other thing is if your shocks have gone, is it a bouncey ride but still sits low?
  18. Thanks guys, should be lowering it next week now so looking forward to it. Yeah gear know insert was removed by pushing up with a small flat blade
  19. Thanks mate! They're 18's running 225/40's Can't wait to get the springs on now but at least I'll appreciate them as I'm getting used to how it looks currently haha.
  20. Thanks mate, the Eibachs are here waiting to be fitted!! As above :-) Definitely, they have quite a low offset so stick out fairly far compared to standard so even less room for error but to be fair the standard 18's would have kerbed easily too so it's the same as usual, just have to tell the wife to be careful too! It's a bit of a cheat as in the boot are the original wheels and also the set of new springs so it's sat lower in that pic. Thanks mate, are you local too then? Yeah as above it has a load of stuff in the boot there. Haha thanks for the kind offer! Very nice of you to say, thanks!
  21. Finally got the chance to get my Tyres put on my new wheels, really happy with how they look on the car - especially the colour! There is also an Eibach Pro spring kit sat in my lounge now waiting to be fitted but here's the pics of the car as it stands :-) Also got a nice new gearknob insert from a mate which is a huge improvement in my eyes! Gearknob Before After
  22. Thanks for that, certainly looks miles better!!! I think 40mm may be called for though....
  23. I've used Headley for years, and book all of our company cars in whenever they need repair work doing no matter how big or small. They're based in Newbury, Berkshire (RG14 5UT) and the Owner (Frazer Phipps) is pretty much contactable 24x7 and is there til late most evenings if you ever want his opinion on something, or a quick quote! I've just had my wheels refurbed & powdercoated and they did a fantastic job (£50 per wheel):
  24. Thanks, but the FL car seems to sit a hell of a lot lower as standard! Mine is really high!!
